  • NFL Injury Updates: Burrow, Richardson, Barkley, Thomas

    Headshot for Saquon Barkley

Bengals fans have been plenty frustrated with the team’s return on investment from quarterback Joe Burrow‘s record-breaking extension. Through two games, Burrow has averaged 152 yards per game while throwing two touchdowns and an interception. People were concerned about the calf injury that forced him out of practice early in training camp this summer and […]

  • Offseason In Review: Indianapolis Colts

    Headshot for Mo Alie-Cox

The Colts’ stunning 2021 season-ender in Jacksonville seems does not exactly seem like it occurred 20 months ago. So much has changed since. Although the batch of Pro Bowlers (minus one well-documented exception) from that talented team remains ahead of the 2023 season, they have observed a chaotic overhaul in the time since that crushing […]

  • Gardner Minshew To Be Indy's Backup QB

    Headshot for Gardner Minshew

The Indianapolis Colts named rookie first-round quarterback Anthony Richardson as their starting QB on Tuesday, leaving veteran Gardner Minshew in the backup role. There was a chance that the Colts would go with the more experienced option in Minshew if they felt that Richardson needed a bit more development (mostly as a passer) before jumping into the starting role in his first NFL season. But apparently the Colts have liked what they've seen from the fourth overall pick during training camp and after one preseason game. The 27-year-old Minshew is a very capable backup should Richardson miss any time with an injury in 2023, but he's off the fantasy radar for now with the regular season quickly approaching.

  • Anthony Richardson, Gardner Minshew Listed As Co-Starters On Depth Chart

    Headshot for Gardner Minshew

Indianapolis Colts rookie first-round quarterback Anthony Richardson and veteran Gardner Minshew are listed as co-starters on the team's first unofficial depth chart of training camp. It shouldn't come as much of a surprise with both Richardson and Minshew still in competition for the starting gig under center while flip-flopping work with the first-team offense at camp. However, Richardson is starting to see more work with the first team and is showing a solid understanding of the offense. Most pundits expect the Colts to roll with Richardson in Week 1 of the regular season unless he has a bad preseason. The 21-year-old is a physical specimen and has plenty of upside because of his rushing ability, but fantasy managers should expect growing pains for him as a passer. If he's starting immediately, he'll be in play as an upside QB2 in fantasy.

  • Jim Irsay Discusses Anthony Richardson, Quarterback Depth Chart

    Headshot for Sam Ehlinger

It’s uncertain if Anthony Richardson will be under center for the Colts come Week 1, but the quarterback will undoubtedly be thrown into the fire during his rookie season. During an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Colts owner Jim Irsay said that the fourth-overall pick will see plenty of playing time during the 2023 […]

  • Gardner Minshew Could Play Over Anthony Richardson Early On

    Headshot for Anthony Richardson

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay hinted that quarterback Gardner Minshew could start over rookie Anthony Richardson early in the 2023 season, although Irsay also stressed the importance of getting Richardson on the field in his rookie campaign. "For Anthony, we know it's going to be tough. But he has to play to get better. There's no question. Gardner could play better early on, him just being a veteran. But we have to get Anthony on the field. That's Shane's call when he decides," Irsay said. Richardson, the No. 4 overall pick in this year's draft, is expected to need plenty of development before he reaches his ceiling. Playing time might not come right away, but it's expected to come eventually in 2023. The 21-year-old is a physical freak, but he's probably not worth a redraft selection as a QB2 in his first NFL season.
