  • Darius Slayton Works With Third-Team Offense

New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton was working with the third-team offense in training camp practice on Friday. Rookie Wan'Dale Robinson, Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney worked with the first team, while Richie James, Collin Johnson and C.J. Board worked with the second team. Slayton worked with Keelan Doss, Austin Proehl and Alex Bachman. It continues to look like it will be an uphill battle for Slayton, a fourth-year pro, to make the final roster out of training camp. It's especially disappointing since Sterling Shepard (Achilles) still isn't practicing with the team. Slayton, who caught a career-low 26 passes (58 targets) for 339 yards and two touchdowns in 13 games (five starts) last year, is well off the fantasy radar for obvious reasons.

  • Darius Slayton Future With Giants "Uncertain"

New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton may not get a spot on the roster, according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN. The wideout was involved in trade discussions last season, and as he enters the final year of his rookie deal, he is in jeopardy of not making the team. Slayton had a horrendous spring, routinely working with the second team while dropping several wide-open passes. The 25-year-old finished his inaugural campaign by amassing 48 catches for 740 yards and eight touchdowns. However, his production has gone downhill since. If he does end up securing a role for the Giants, he'll likely have one more shot to prove his worth, which could be difficult considering the team's depth at the position.

  • Darius Slayton Has A Rough Spring

New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton had a rough spring and dropped a bunch of passes in the practices open to the media. He also wasn't getting much work with the first-string offense, although head coach Brian Daboll downplayed the importance of starting units in the spring. It was especially disappointing with Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney sitting out due to injuries from last season. It's entirely possible that Slayton could be traded or released before training camp and the preseason. He's entering the final year of his rookie contract, and cutting him would free up $2.5 million in salary cap space with just $58,000 in dead money attached. The presence of second-round rookie Wan'Dale Robinson doesn't help Slayton's cause either.
