  • DK Metcalf Active For Week 3

    Headshot for DK Metcalf

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf (ribs) will play in Sunday's Week 3 matchup against the Carolina Panthers. He missed the first two practices to open the week, but was able to get in a full session on Friday. That appears to be enough for Metcalf as he'll suit up this weekend. Last week, Metcalf caught five of his 10 targets for 71 yards and a touchdown in the win over the Lions. Fantasy managers can safely pencil Metcalf back in their lineups for Week 3.

  • DK Metcalf Returns To Practice On Friday

    Headshot for DK Metcalf

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf (ribs) practiced in full on Friday after missing the previous two days. He was on the receiving end of a hard shot to the ribs on Seattle's opening drive against the Lions in Week 2. He is listed as questionable for Seattle's Week 3 game against the Carolina Panthers but is expected to play. Sunday's game is a rematch of their Week 14 showdown last season, which the Panthers won 30-24. Metcalf caught five of 10 targets for 71 yards and a touchdown in that game. Metcalf should be in starting lineups if he is active on Sunday. If he has any setbacks, Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba stand to benefit the most.

  • DK Metcalf Questionable For Week 3

    Headshot for DK Metcalf

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf (ribs) is listed as questionable to face the visiting Carolina Panthers in Week 3 on Sunday. Metcalf missed practice time this week, as expected, after taking a hard shot to the ribs in the Week 2 overtime win over the Detroit Lions. Despite the injury, he managed to haul in all six of his targets last week for 75 yards after scoring in the season opener. All signs point to Metcalf toughing it out this weekend and suiting up, so he should remain locked into all starting fantasy lineups as a WR2. If for any reason he doesn't see his normal allotment of snaps this Sunday, Tyler Lockett and rookie first-rounder Jaxon Smith-Njigba would benefit from some extra looks against Carolina.

  • DK Metcalf Misses Another Practice

    Headshot for DK Metcalf

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf (ribs) missed practice for the second straight day on Thursday. Metcalf took a hard shot to his ribs in the Week 2 overtime win over the Detroit Lions, and head coach Pete Carroll said earlier this week that the team would likely need to give him some time to recover this week. As long as the 25-year-old returns to practice in some form on Friday, he should at least attempt to suit up for Sunday's contest against the Carolina Panthers. Through two games this year, Metcalf has nine receptions on 11 targets for 122 yards and a touchdown, so as long as he's active, he needs to be in starting fantasy lineups. If Metcalf is limited or out this week, it will open up more looks for both Tyler Lockett and rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

  • DK Metcalf Expected To Play In Week 3

    Headshot for DK Metcalf

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf (ribs) is "going to make it through the week, he'll be alright," but the team "will take care of him" while he deals with sore ribs, according to head coach Pete Carroll. Metcalf might miss some practice time this week as the team looks to give him some rest after he took a hard shot to his ribs in the Week 2 overtime win over the Detroit Lions. The stud wideout still played 83% of the offensive snaps on Sunday and caught all six of his targets for 75 yards, although he was unable to find paydirt for the second straight week. The 25-year-old should be able to suit up in Week 3 against the Carolina Panthers and remains a must-start in fantasy lineups as long as he's on the field.

  • DK Metcalf Could Miss Practice Time This Week

    Headshot for DK Metcalf

It sounds as though Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf (ribs) might miss or be limited in some practices this week after taking a hard shot to the ribs in the Week 2 overtime win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday. "He's going to need a couple days" of recuperation, according to head coach Pete Carroll. Despite his injury on Sunday, the 25-year-old caught all six of his targets for a team-high 75 yards to help beat Detroit. Fantasy managers will want to keep an eye on his status this week, but this isn't doesn't sound like it will end up keeping Metcalf off the field in Week 3 against the Carolina Panthers. It will most likely be a pain-tolerance issue. If he's active next Sunday, Metcalf should be in all starting fantasy lineups.

  • DK Metcalf Leads Seahawks With 75 Receiving Yards

    Headshot for DK Metcalf

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf caught all six of his targets for 75 yards in Week 2 against the Detroit Lions. Metcalf's yardage led the team for the second week in a row despite him missing most of the first half. On the Seahawks' first drive of the game, Metcalf took an awkward hit to the ribs while making a catch just short of the goal line. He stayed on to finish the drive, but the Seahawks held the receiver out until the second half. The red zone target hog did not make it into the endzone on Sunday but that was likely a symptom of his missed time. Fantasy managers can expect more from a healthy Metcalf in a functional Seahawks offense in Week 3 when Seattle hosts the Carolina Panthers.

  • DK Metcalf Returns In Week 2

    Headshot for DK Metcalf

Updating a previous report, Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf (ribs) returned to the field in Week 2 on Sunday against the Detroit Lions after taking a hard shot to the ribs early in the game. Metcalf was initially ruled questionable to return, but he's now back for the Seahawks and fantasy managers. Before getting hurt, Metcalf caught both of his targets for 34 yards, but it remains to be seen how effective he'll be for the rest of this game. The good news here for fantasy managers is that Metcalf's injury doesn't appear to be too serious, so hopefully he won't be questionable to play in Week 3 against the Carolina Panthers.

  • DK Metcalf Questionable To Return With Ribs Injury

    Headshot for DK Metcalf

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf (ribs) took a big hit on the opening series of the Week 2 contest against the Detroit Lions on Sunday and is questionable to return to the game with a ribs injury. Before leaving the game, Metcalf caught both of his targets for 34 yards, so at least he was able to put up something before getting injured if he doesn't end up returning to this game. With Metcalf out, Tyler Lockett and rookie first-rounder Jaxon Smith-Njigba will operate as quarterback Geno Smith's top two pass-catchers if Metcalf ends up being ruled out. Tight end Will Dissly could also get more involved through the air. Check back for updates on Metcalf's condition.

  • DK Metcalf - Week 2 Outlook for Fantasy Football

    Headshot for DK Metcalf

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf's 47 receiving yards led the team in their Week 1 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. The fifth-year veteran scored a touchdown in the first half, but his biggest impact in the second half came on his 15-yard taunting penalty in the fourth quarter. In comments to the media this week, Metcalf alluded to his opponents being more competitive and playing harder, something that would have to change in Seattle's next game. In Week 2, the Seahawks travel to Detroit to face the Lions. In Week 1, the Lions held the Chiefs to 226 passing yards, though Kansas City's offense was missing Travis Kelce and further hindered by the poor play of Kadarius Toney. Expect a refocused Metcalf to carry WR2 value as the Seahawks look to avoid an 0-2 start to the season.

  • Carroll, Metcalf have 'serious' talk about penalties

    Headshot for DK Metcalf

  • DK Metcalf Leads Seahawks With 47 Receiving Yards

    Headshot for DK Metcalf

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf led his team in receiving yards with 47 on three catches in the team's Week 1 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. The fifth-year veteran also caught one touchdown. The score came in the second quarter from the Rams 10-yard line, when Metcalf deked cornerback Derion Kendrick at the line and sent him in the wrong direction, leaving the receiver wide open in the end zone. Unfortunately, Metcalf's fantasy production was done by halftime, as the Rams dominated the time of possession so thoroughly in the second half that Seattle's offense held the ball for little more than five minutes. Metcalf is still a must-start in Week 2 when the Seahawks fly to Detroit to take on the Lions.

  • DK Metcalf Looking For Big Game Against Rams

    Headshot for DK Metcalf

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf set career highs in targets (141) and catches (90) last season. Jaxon Smith-Njigba's arrival will cut into the number of targets Metcalf sees, but the rookie will also draw some defensive attention away from the fifth-year veteran. Metcalf has an inviting Week 1 matchup against a Los Angeles Rams defense that lost defensive back Jalen Ramsey in the offseason. One of Metcalf's best games of 2022 against the Rams, when he caught seven passes for 127 yards and a touchdown in their Week 12 showdown. The red zone target hog will flirt with the line between WR1 and WR2 depending on what he can do with the looks he gets inside the 20-yard line on Sunday.

  • DK Metcalf Remains Geno Smith's Go-To Target

    Headshot for Geno Smith

The Athletic's Michael-Shawn Dugar writes that Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf remains quarterback Geno Smith's go-to target after Metcalf accounted for 25.5 percent of Seattle's targets last year. The fifth-year wideout started his career as mostly an outside receiver, but he's evolved into a player who can stress defenses from the slot as well. Smith and Metcalf weren't all that efficient in 2022, but Dugar believes that should change in 2023. The 25-year-old is one of the NFL's best all-around receivers and has 900-plus receiving yards in each of his first four seasons in the league. The addition of rookie first-rounder Jaxon Smith-Njigba could take some valuable targets away from Metcalf this year, but he remains a strong WR2 target with game-changing abilities in Seattle.

  • DK Metcalf Looking Good At Training Camp

    Headshot for DK Metcalf

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf had an amazing day at training camp practice on Thursday and made several catches, ranging from deep receptions to short passes that featured impressive footwork and route-running, and he also scored touchdowns multiple times. Rookie first-rounder Jaxon Smith-Njigba has been getting most of the headlines at Seahawks camp so far this summer with everyone being extremely impressed with him, but Metcalf is quietly going about his work as the top receiver in Seattle. The 25-year-old has had 1,000-yard seasons in two of his four NFL seasons, but he scored a career-low six TDs in 2022. Metcalf remains one of the best all-around receivers in the game, but Smith-Njigba could take valuable targets away. Consider Metcalf a low-end WR1/high-end WR2 on draft day.

  • DK Metcalf Thinks Seahawks Have Scary Offense

    Headshot for DK Metcalf

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf is excited about what the offense will be able to do in 2023 after the team added receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba in the first round of this year's draft and running back Zach Charbonnet in the second round. "I mean, just the type of person he is, first," Metcalf said when asked about JSN. "He's a great dude. And on the field, he's a great route runner, excellent hands. So, I think he's going to open the offense even more. Him and Zach Charbonnet is going to do, you know, amazing things at the running back position along with Kenneth Walker III. We got a whole arsenal of weapons on offense, adding Bobby (Wagner) back on defense, you know, a leader for not only the defense but the whole team." The biggest winner is quarterback Geno Smith, who got paid after a career year in 2022. He's not quite a QB1, but he's a solid target as a high-end backup in fantasy.
