  • Seahawks To Add Charles London To Staff

    Headshot for Drew Lock

New Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald and offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb have their new quarterbacks coach in former Titans assistant Charles London, according to Jonathan Jones of NFL on CBS. It’s a nice get for Seattle after seeing London interview for offensive coordinator jobs is the past few offseasons. London’s coaching experience in the NFL […]

  • Seahawks Plan On Retaining Geno Smith?

    Headshot for Drew Lock

The Seahawks’ QB situation faces plenty of uncertainty entering the 2024 league year. Geno Smith is set to pass an important checkpoint on the way to retaining his starter’s role, however. Smith was informed by the team on Thursday that he will remain on the roster through February 16, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports. That is important because […]

  • Latest On Geno Smith's Future With Seahawks

    Headshot for Drew Lock

According to ESPN’s Brady Henderson, it is not certain that quarterback Geno Smith will be back with the Seahawks in 2024. After all, longtime head coach Pete Carroll — who was one of Smith’s biggest champions and who frequently deflected blame away from the veteran passer — has been shifted to an advisory role. GM […]

  • Drew Lock Upsets Eagles On MNF

    Headshot for Drew Lock

Quarterback Drew Lock was tabbed for his second consecutive start after it was determined in pregame warmups that Geno Smith (groin) was better off sitting for another week. Lock went 22-for-33 for 203 passing yards in what was an underwhelming effort until Seattle's final drive of Seattle's eventual 20-17 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. With just under two minutes left on the clock in the fourth quarter, Lock led the Seahawks 92 yards downfield and threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba with 28 seconds left on the clock. While it was an impressive finish, Lock looked gunshy for most of the night, sticking to short and intermediate routes and completing only three passes that went for more than eight yards before the fourth quarter. Even with the late-game heroics, the starter job is expected to go back to Smith once he is fully healed, which may be as soon as Week 16's contest against the Tennessee Titans.

  • Drew Lock Expected To Start On Monday Night

    Headshot for Drew Lock

Updating a previous report, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Drew Lock, not Geno Smith (groin), is expected to start on Monday night against the Philadelphia Eagles. Smith came into this game as questionable after missing last week's loss to the San Francisco 49ers. He is active for this game but will cede starting duties to Lock, who is now making his second straight start. If Lock gets injured on Monday night, Smith would be forced into action at less than 100 percent. It's a downgrade for receivers DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba, but the Eagles secondary has also been a great matchup for opposing QBs and receivers, so perhaps Lock can put together a nice performance through the air in a game in which the Seahawks could have to take to the air often.

  • Drew Lock To Start Against Eagles?

    Headshot for Drew Lock

Signs continue to point to Seattle Seahawks quarterback Drew Lock being the team's starter under center on Monday night against the Philadelphia Eagles despite the fact that Geno Smith (groin) is officially active for this game. There apparently won't be official word on the starter before the kickoff, so fantasy managers that have Smith in their starting lineup would be wise to throw Lock in there now. Lock has been taking the first-team repetitions at QB during pre-game warmups. If Smith doesn't start, which is the way things appear to be headed, he'll be available in a pinch in case Lock gets injured on Monday night. If Lock gets the start, it will be his second straight after Smith was inactive for the Week 14 loss to the division-rival San Francisco 49ers.

  • Drew Lock May Draw Start Monday Night

    Headshot for Drew Lock

There is a real possibility that quarterback Drew Lock will draw a second consecutive start for the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night. Geno Smith (groin) is still feeling the effects of the groin injury that kept him out of Week 14 and will be a game time decision. Lock turned in a serviceable fantasy line of 269 yards with two touchdowns but also threw two interceptions in the 28-16 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Lock getting the start on Monday would downgrade the potential upside of receivers DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. There is still room for optimism as the Philadelphia Eagles defense allows the second-most passing touchdowns per game and has given up 299.3 passing yards per game in their last three contests. Against the Eagles' generous defense, Lock could put up mid-range QB2 numbers in Week 15.

  • Real Chance Drew Lock Starts Over Geno Smith Monday Night

    Headshot for Geno Smith

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith (groin) is listed as questionable to play on Monday night against the Philadelphia Eagles, and there's a real chance that backup Drew Lock will make his second straight start this week, according to sources. Smith is going to be a true game-time decision on Monday night, so any fantasy managers deciding between him and another QB that plays on Sunday will probably want to play this one safe and put Smith on their bench. Lock made his first start of the year in the Week 14 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, going 22-for-31 for 269 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in what was a respectable showing against one of the league's best defenses. Lock will have a much better matchup against a shaky Philly secondary if he starts again on Monday night, although we still wouldn't recommend him as anything more than a midrange QB2, at best.

  • Drew Lock Throws Two Picks In Spot Start

    Headshot for Drew Lock

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Drew Lock got the start against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, filling in for an injured Geno Smith (groin). Lock completed 22 of his 31 pass attempts for 269 yards and threw two touchdowns and two interceptions in the process. Overall, it was a decent fantasy performance considering he was facing the same defense that held Seattle to just 220 total yards back on Thanksgiving. Lock did a good job of keeping the Seahawks close in the first half, but his pair of interceptions in the fourth quarter interrupted the team's attempts at a comeback. It is not yet known if Smith will be ready for Seattle's next game so Lock may be tapped again for the start against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 15.

  • Geno Smith Inactive Sunday, Drew Lock To Start At Quarterback

    Headshot for Geno Smith

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith (groin) has been ruled out for Week 14 versus the San Francisco 49ers. He had been listed as questionable and was trending in the wrong direction as gameday drew nearer. Drew Lock will start in his place but lacks fantasy appeal given his previous struggles and a very tough matchup against the Niners. DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba will all see their fantasy values take a hit, too.

  • Geno Smith Trending In Wrong Direction, Drew Lock Could Start

    Headshot for Geno Smith

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith (groin) is trending in the wrong direction for Week 14, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. He described the quarterback's injury as relatively serious and noted that Drew Lock practiced this week in preparation to start. It's unlikely that the Seahawks make an official decision on their quarterback situation until 90 minutes before kickoff. Regardless, neither Smith or Lock have much fantasy appeal given the difficult matchup.

  • Drew Lock May Start Against 49ers

    Headshot for Drew Lock

Backup quarterback Drew Lock may get the start for the Seattle Seahawks when they take on the San Francisco 49ers in Week 14. Geno Smith (groin) is shaping up to be a game-time decision on Sunday after injuring his groin in practice on Thursday. The Seahawks elevated Sean Mannion from the practice squad on Saturday, indicating that Smith is trending in the wrong direction and that it will be Lock under center and in need of a backup himself. Lock has made only two appearances in the regular season going a combined 4-for-12 for 66 yards and throwing one interception. Should he be Seattle's signal-caller against the 49ers, he should be avoided in fantasy. Furthermore, DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba owners should expect those receivers to take a step back in production.
