  • Rams Optimistic Darrell Henderson Jr. Will Be Ready This Week

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay said that running back Darrell Henderson Jr. (rib) is dealing with a rib-cartilage injury, but the Rams are optimistic that he will be ready for Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Don't expect Henderson to practice much, but it sounds as though he avoided a major injury in the Week 2 win over the Indianapolis Colts. The 24-year-old lead back had 13 carries for 53 yards and a touchdown and caught three of five targets for an additional 29 yards on Sunday before leaving with his injury. Sony Michel finished the game in LA's backfield and had 10 rushing attempts for 46 yards. He was not targeted in the passing game. Henderson could be questionable this week and has a tough matchup on tap in the Bucs strong defensive line. If Henderson sits out, Michel would likely share backfield work with rookie Jake Funk.

  • Darrell Henderson Jr. Finds The End Zone In Week 2

Los Angeles Rams running back Darrell Henderson Jr. was splitting the touches a bit more in Week 2, but he was still the leading man on the day against the Indianapolis Colts. Henderson finished the day with 13 carries for 53 yards and a score to go with three receptions on five targets for 29 yards. After seeing nearly all of the running back touches in Week 1, Henderson had 16 of the 26 opportunities with teammate Sony Michel getting 10 carries of his own. With Henderson getting injured in the second half, though, this could be Michel's backfield in Week 3 if Henderson is unable to play. Stay tuned.

  • Darrell Henderson Jr. Goes To Locker Room

Los Angeles Rams running back Darrell Henderson Jr. has gone to the locker room with what appears to be an upper-body injury. Considering it's the fourth quarter of this game, it wouldn't be a shock to see Henderson ruled out, even if the injury doesn't wind up being serious. Henderson has 13 carries for 53 yards and a touchdown, as well as three catches for 29 yards. If he's unable to return, Sony Michel will tote the rock. Michel is a solid back, but doesn't have the upside that Henderson does.

  • Darrell Henderson Jr. Should See Large Workload In Week 2

Los Angeles Rams running back Darrell Henderson Jr. should continue to see a significant workload against the Colts in Week 2. While Sony Michel remains present on the depth chart, he logged just one carry last week. Henderson, meanwhile, rushed 16 times and was on the field for 94 percent of offensive snaps. Head coach Sean McVay noted that Michel could garner some carries if the offense is clicking and moving down the field, but the clear lead-back role belongs to Henderson. "Darrell's a guy that's done a really nice job," explained McVay. "I was really pleased with how he got stronger as the [Week 1] game went on." This week, Henderson represents a high-end FLEX player who has upside given his workload and a potentially positive game script.

  • Darrell Henderson Jr. Finishes Strong In Week 1

Los Angeles Rams running back Darrell Henderson Jr. didn't have the greatest game as the team's starter, but he was able to finish strong for a solid fantasy day against the Chicago Bears in Week 1. Henderson finished the game with 16 carries for 70 yards and a touchdown. He also caught his lone target for 17 yards. Sony Michel will likely be more of a factor moving forward as he gets more integrated into the offense, but Michel had just one carry for two yards on the night. Until Michel gets himself integrated into the offense, Henderson will likely be a consistent RB2 each week in this strong offense.

  • Darrell Henderson Jr. Isn't A Top Option In Week 1

Los Angeles Rams running back Darrell Henderson Jr. is the team's starting running back after the season-ending injury to teammate Cam Akers, but he's not going to be a top fantasy option in Week 1 against the Chicago Bears. The Bears defensive strength this season is going to be up front against the run with the healthy returns of Akiem Hicks and Eddie Goldman, along with the other names in their front seven. Meanwhile, the Rams have the pass-catchers to exploit the back end for Chicago. The Rams also have Sony Michel in the backfield to spell Henderson and keep him healthy throughout the year. Henderson likely sneaks into back-end RB2 category, but he's not going to be an RB1 this week.

  • Darrell Henderson Fully Recovered From Thumb Injury

Los Angeles Rams running back Darrell Henderson (thumb) wasn't listed on the injury report Wednesday. He sustained a sprained left thumb during practice on August 23. The 24-year-old is fully recovered from the issue and wasn't listed on the latest injury report. Henderson will still have a "huge role" despite the team recently trading for former New England Patriots running back Sony Michel. He rushed for 624 yards and five touchdowns while catching 16 passes for 159 yards and one touchdown over 15 games in 2020. Henderson is a solid flex play and a borderline RB2 Week 1 against the Chicago Bears.

  • Darrell Henderson Jr. Still Expected To Have A Big Role

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay said that running back Darrell Henderson Jr. is "still going to have a very big role" despite the team recently trading for former New England Patriots running back Sony Michel. Henderson recently suffered a thumb injury, but he appears to be on track for the Week 1 start and the lead role in the backfield after Cam Akers' (Achilles) season-ending injury. The bad news for Henderson is that Michel is an upgrade over both Xavier Jones and Jake Funk, and while Michel isn't really a threat for pass-catching work, he could steal valuable goal-line touches. On top of it, Henderson has had three significant lower-body injuries in two seasons in the NFL. A three-down role is possible, but his injury history and the addition of Michel make him more of a low-end RB2/high-end RB3 target now.

  • Darrell Henderson Jr. Expected To Be Ready For Week 1

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Rams running back Darrell Henderson Jr. (thumb) suffered a mildly sprained thumb in practice on Monday and is expected to be ready for the regular season opener against the Chicago Bears, according to a source. As the clear-cut lead running back with Cam Akers (Achilles) done for the year, this is excellent news for the Rams and fantasy managers. The 24-year-old has yet to see action in the preseason, though, and injury issues are a real concern for him as a low-end RB2/high-end RB3 this season. Henderson's fantasy managers would love to see him play before Week 1, but it remains to be seen if that happens. If anything were to happen to Henderson during the regular season, Xavier Jones, Jake Funk and Otis Anderson would see more opportunities behind him.

  • Darrell Henderson Jr. Injures Thumb On Monday

Los Angeles Rams running back Darrell Henderson Jr. (thumb) had been dealing with a small injury a week ago, but he suffered another injury on Monday during practice when he hurt his thumb. When asked about the severity of the injury, head coach Sean McVay said, "I'm not sure. He got his thumb. Don't have any updates on that." The Rams backfield is already thin, and they can't afford to lose Henderson for any period of time. With Henderson banged up, it's highly unlikely that he'll be playing in the team's final preseason matchup. This also opens the door for players such as Xavier Jones and Jake Funk to take on a larger role if Henderson misses extended time. If either of those players were to become the starter, they would have flex value for fantasy managers.

  • Darrell Henderson Jr. Dealing A With Hand Injury

Los Angeles Rams running back Darrell Henderson Jr. (hand) was injured during Tuesday's practice. During drills, the 23-year-old suffered what appeared to be a minor hand injury, although he didn't participate much afterward. While the ailment doesn't seem significant, it is still worth monitoring moving ahead, primarily since he is on tap to be the team's workhorse out of the backfield with Cam Akers (Achilles) out for the year.

  • Xavier Jones Receiving High Praise In Training Camp

Los Angeles Rams running back Xavier Jones was thrust into a bigger role when teammate Cam Akers (Achilles) was lost for the season, but he has been thriving through the first week of training camp. After Monday's practice, head coach Sean McVay said the room as a whole was doing well to make up for Akers' absence, but he specifically mentioned that Jones was a player that was standing out to him. The team is likely to go with Darrell Henderson as the lead option, but Jones is clearly the primary option off of the bench that is worth stashing on your bench as a potential sleeper.

  • Rams Have Faith In Darrell Henderson Jr.

The Los Angeles Rams don't have any immediate plans to pursue a free-agent running back now that Cam Akers (Achilles) is out for the entire 2021 season. The Rams believe in Darrell Henderson Jr., have high hopes for last year's undrafted free-agent running back Xavier Jones and also drafted Jake Funk in the seventh round this year. This stance could certainly change if the team isn't happy with Henderson or their other options in training camp and the preseason. Regardless, Henderson's fantasy value will skyrocket with the injury to Akers, as he'll now become an RB2 target with potential RB1 upside in LA's rising offense with Matthew Stafford under center. In 15 games (11 starts) in 2020, Henderson had 624 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 138 carries, while adding 16 catches for 159 yards and an additional score.

  • Darrell Henderson Jr. Should Be Ready For Training Camp

Los Angeles Rams running back Darrell Henderson Jr. missed some time during the offseason training program with an undisclosed injury, but it doesn't appear to be anything that should keep him on the sidelines for too long. Head coach Sean McVay stated, "He's feeling better and better. We expect him to be full speed by the time training camp rolls around." Henderson has yet to play all 16 games in either of his first two seasons, and the Rams will need him to be more available in Year 3 to avoid wearing down starter Cam Akers by the time the season comes to an end.
