Damien Harris A Barely-There RB4 In Week 3

Running back Damien Harris managed to find the end zone amid Week 2's smackdown of the Las Vegas Raiders for the first touchdown of his Buffalo Bills career. The 26-year-old finds himself in an intimidating matchup on deck against the Washington Commanders' stud nose-tackle combination of Jonathan Allen and Daron Payne. Harris has played behind Latavius Murray for scraps behind lead back James Cook in the opening two weeks, so fantasy managers would really be grasping at straws by inserting Harris into Week 3 lineups. Murray has siphoned five of Buffalo's nine red-zone touches among the three RBs. The power back, Harris, is at least a better bet to hit paydirt than Cook after out-touching him in the red zone 4-0 to this point. Harris probably needs Sunday's meeting to get out of hand in favor of Buffalo to return value as a TD-or-bust RB4/FLEX.

Damien Harris Chips In 33 Yards, Scores In Sunday's Win

Buffalo Bills running back Damien Harris ran seven times for 33 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 38-10 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. The 26-year-old most notably plowed into the end zone with the Bills sitting on the ball in the fourth quarter amidst the blowout victory. Harris also continues to see his fair share of high-value touches, keeping him on the fantasy map in games Buffalo is projecting for positive game script. That particular setup was ripe for the picking in this one, and the power back hit paydirt to save an otherwise middling display for "zero-RB" fantasy managers who took the leap of faith in starting him. With Harris well behind James Cook for base work and also sharing red zone totes with incumbent veteran Latavius Murray, he once again resides on the TD-dependent RB3/4 fringe for Week 3's favorable draw against the Washington Commanders.

Damien Harris - Week 2 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Buffalo Bills running back Damien Harris played a lesser role than some may have perhaps anticipated after he got one carry for three yards and two catches for 16 yards in Week 1. The 26-year-old participated in a concerning 14.7% of Buffalo's Week 1 offensive snaps. Though he didn't see a touch until late in the game, incumbent veteran Latavius Murray took a chunk of Week 1's fourth-quarter snaps for a 20.6% share overall. This caveat especially doesn't bode well for Harris' prospects as Buffalo's preferred grinder to salt the game away if they are sitting on a late lead in Week 2. The Las Vegas Raiders spilled out the third-highest fantasy points per game (25.44), however, to opposing RBs a season ago. While it's a favorable matchup on paper for Harris' bruising play-style, it's unreasonable to rank him any greater than on the touchdown-or-bust RB3/4 borderline considering his scant Week 1 workload.

Damien Harris Barely Involved In Week 1 Loss

Buffalo Bills running back Damien Harris took one carry for three yards and caught both of his targets for 13 yards in Monday's 22-16 defeat to the New York Jets. The 26-year-old's lone tote came inside New York's 10-yard line during the second quarter, but that was ultimately the main positive takeaway from an otherwise nondescript Bills debut for the power back. James Cook resoundingly out-touched Harris 16-3, and Latavius Murray didn't check in until the fourth period. Buffalo didn't get a lot of action in goal-to-go situations in Week 1, so it remains to be seen which tailback consistently handles those high-value touches. Harris should at least signify a better bet to hit paydirt at home in Week 2's soft matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Damien Harris A Shaky RB3 At Best In Road Date

Buffalo Bills running back Damien Harris figures to work in a timeshare with teammates James Cook and Latavius Murray in Week 1 against the New York Jets. Harris jumped ship from the New England Patriots to Buffalo on a one-year deal likely to be the squad's preferred goal-line back after Cook didn't receive one carry inside the five-yard line in Year 1. There could be future matchups more befitting to Harris' early-down skill set when the Bills are positioned to play with a lead (perhaps at home in Week 2 versus the Las Vegas Raiders), but Monday's tilt may not be one of those instances. In what projects to be a neutral scoring environment, the 26-year-old power back adds up to a low-floor, touchdown-dependent RB3, who's more attractive in standard leagues in the opener.

Offseason In Review: Buffalo Bills

The preseason favorites last season endured major injury problems and saw a frightening scene alter their playoff route. Rather than earning a first-round bye, the Bills saw the Damar Hamlin sequence lead to a postponement-turned-cancellation and a No. 2 seed. Buffalo’s poor showing as the second seed exposed some foundational cracks, and the team spent […]

Buffalo Bills running back Damien Harris handled seven carries for 25 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 24-21 preseason win over the Chicago Bears. Making his preseason debut following a knee injury, the 26-year-old power back plunged into the end zone from two yards out on Buffalo's opening drive. Harris played into the second quarter, operating under the secondary role that Latavius Murray held during his absence the last two weeks. James Cook should ultimately lead the Bills in backfield touches this season, but it remains to be seen who will consistently embrace red-zone opportunities out of this trio. Harris figures to be the favorite in short-yardage/goal-line scenarios while Cook takes on base work and passing-down snaps.

Bills To Sign RB Ty Johnson

The Bills are thin at offensive tackle at the moment, but they are still tinkering with other areas of their roster. That will include a depth addition to their backfield. Buffalo is set to sign running back Ty Johnson, reports ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler (Twitter link). The deal will allow Johnson to remain in the AFC East […]

Buffalo Bills running back Damien Harris (knee) was able to return to the practice field on Wednesday. The 26-year-old was held out of practice on Tuesday after suffering a minor knee injury last week. Despite that, head coach Sean McDermott has said that Harris is trending in the right direction. The fact he was able to get back on the practice field is a good sign. The expectation is that Harris is going to split the workload with James Cook to begin the season.

Damien Harris Doing Side Work On Tuesday

Buffalo Bills running back Damien Harris (knee) remains out of practice on Tuesday but is doing side work with athletic trainers. Harris suffered a minor knee injury early last week, but head coach Sean McDermott said he's trending in the "right direction". For now, there is no reason to panic about his injury status, but fantasy managers should stay tuned for further updates. He should have plenty of touchdown upside as the primary goal line rusher for one of the league's best offenses in 2023.

Damien Harris Heading In Right Direction

Buffalo Bills running back Damien Harris (knee) was unable to practice on Sunday. However, head coach Sean McDermott said that Harris is heading in the right direction. Harris continues to deal with a lingering knee issue that held him out of the preseason opener on Saturday. Despite the injury, McDermott doesn't seem too worried about the running back's availability for Week 1 of the regular season. Harris is expected to be in a timeshare with James Cook to begin the season.

Latest On Bills' RB Situation

The season-ending injury suffered by Nyheim Hines last month left the Bills shorthanded in the backfield. His absence has led to increased clarity with respect to who should make the team’s 53-man roster, though, along with the pecking order at the position. James Cook was already in line to handle starting duties with Devin Singletary having departed in free agency, […]

Buffalo Bills running back Damien Harris (knee) is being held out of the team's preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts. Buffalo's new addition sat out a few practices this week due to a knee injury. The ex-Patriot is in a training camp battle with Latavius Murray for the short-yardage back role. If he can return to the practice field this week, we may see Harris next Saturday against Pittsburgh. Consider the veteran an RB4 option for the 2023 season, if he wins the job over Murray.

Damien Harris Has Sore Knee, Won't Practice Thursday

Buffalo Bills running back Damien Harris (right knee) is feeling sore and will not practice on Thursday, according to Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic. However, head coach Sean McDermott told the media that "he thinks Harris is headed in the right direction with the injury." While Buffalo is likely to incorporate James Cook quite often this season, Harris' presence cannot be ignored. He scored 15 touchdowns with the Patriots in 2021 and was specifically signed by Buffalo to take some of the work off Josh Allen's plate and reduce the quarterback's injury susceptibility by giving his short-yardage touches to a running back. Consider Harris a viable RB3/FLEX option heading into the 2023 campaign.

Damien Harris Slowed By Knee Injury

Buffalo Bills running back Damien Harris (knee), who has missed a combined 14 regular season games over the last three years due to injuries, was walking carefully around the sidelines at training camp on Monday with his helmet in his hands while not taking any repetitions in team drills due to a right knee injury. It allowed Latavius Murray to operate as the second RB. Harris and Murray are currently competing for the short-yardage/goal-line role in Buffalo's backfield behind starter James Cook, so any missed time from Harris could give Murray the advantage in the competition early in the regular season. It doesn't sound like too serious of an injury for Harris, though, so he should be considered day-to-day for now.

Damien Harris, Latavius Murray Competing In Short-Yardage Situations

Buffalo Bills running backs Damien Harris and Latavius Murray have been competing at training camp in short-yardage situations. Murray remains the more accomplished and better receiver of the two backups to James Cook, but Harris has consistently been the second back to get snaps after Cook throughout training camp. It will be interesting to see where the competition goes during the preseason, given that Murray is the more productive pass-catcher and has shown short-yardage ability. The Bills could go back and forth between Harris and Murray behind Cook, which will make it hard to endorse either back as an RB4/flex in fantasy drafts. If we had to pick, we'd favor the 26-year-old Harris.

Damien Harris Taking Reps Behind James Cook

Buffalo Bills running back Damien Harris is reportedly taking reps right behind James Cook in training camp. Many expected Harris to have the lead over Latavius Murray to be the Bills' bruiser, so this does not come as a surprise. While Harris will have very few pass-catching opportunities, his touchdown upside could be significant as the lead goal line rusher in a top offense. The 215-pound back has a 15-touchdown season on his resume from his time with the New England Patriots, so he's proven he can do the dirty work in short-yardage situations. He has RB1 upside in standard formats.
