  • Packers Defense Give Up 40 Points In Week 12

The Green Bay Packers defense yielded 40 points, generated two sacks, and recovered a forced fumble during the team's 40-33 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. It was the most points Green Bay has allowed all season. The Eagles gashed the Packers, gaining 500 total yards, with 363 of them coming on the ground. Green Bay had no answers for quarterback Jalen Hurts, who set the record for most rushing yards by an Eagles quarterback in a single game. The team lost safety Darnell Savage early in the contest and had multiple players go down for brief periods. Next week's matchup against Chicago is intriguing, as quarterback Justin Fields (shoulder) could miss the game after sitting out this week. However, the Packer defense is more of a floor play, considering they have one of the lowest turnover totals in the league.

  • Packers Defense Not A Recommended Fantasy Option In Week 12

The Green Bay Packers defense will go on the road to face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night. The Packers have given up 27 or more points in five of the past seven games and have averaged just 1.6 sacks and 1.1 turnovers per game during that time. Ravaged by injuries at all levels, Green Bay's defense has struggled to stop opposing offenses from scoring. The matchup with Philadelphia is not great, as the Eagles have scored the sixth-most points and committed the second-fewest turnovers. With such a stiff matchup and no team on a bye this week, Green Bay's defense is far off of the streaming radar. Better options are sitting on the waiver wire in Week 12, so leave the Packers' defense out of your starting lineups this week if possible.

  • Packers Defense Underwhelms During Week 11 Loss

The Green Bay Packers defense gave up 27 points, generated three sacks, and intercepted quarterback Ryan Tannehill once during the team's 27-17 loss to the Tennessee Titans. It will go down as the third time in four weeks that Green Bay has allowed 27 or more points to be scored. It was encouraging to see a defense missing some key pieces sack the quarterback three times, but with only one turnover in the game, the Packers let up too many points to have a solid fantasy outing. With a road matchup against Philadelphia scheduled for Week 12, the Packers' defense will be well off the streaming radar. The team will hope to have LB De'Vondre Campbell back to help generate pressure against Jalen Hurts and the Eagles.

  • Packers Defense A Lower-Tier Streaming Option

The Green Bay Packers defense will take on the Tennessee Titans on Thursday night. The defense let up the most points so far this season last week against Dallas but forced two interceptions for the second time this year. Tennessee has quarterback Ryan Tannehill back under center, making the offense a bit more palatable, but running back Derrick Henry is going to be the Packers' biggest issue. Green Bay has given up the league's fifth-most rushing yards and is missing some key defensive pieces this week. Couple this with the fact that the Packers are struggling to get to the quarterback, and Green Bay shakes out to be an uninspiring streaming option at best for fantasy in Week 11. They are not a terrible start in 14-16 team leagues, but there are likely better options on the waiver wire.

  • Packers Defense Tallies Two Interceptions In Week 10

The Green Bay Packers defense surrendered 28 points, recorded two sacks, and forced two interceptions during the team's 31-28 overtime victory over the Dallas Cowboys. While the 28 points allowed were the highest of the season, it was the second time the team had forced two interceptions in three weeks. It was a much better outcome than expected for a team that was a home underdog for the first time in a long time. It was not the greatest outing for fantasy purposes, but it was encouraging to see Green Bay force multiple turnovers, something they have struggled to do all season. With a much less potent offense coming into town next week in the form of the Titans, the Packers' defense will be on the streaming radar for Week 11.

  • Packers Defense Off The Streaming Radar In Week 10

The Green Bay Packers defense will face the Dallas Cowboys in Week 10. The Packers' defense has given up an average of 23.8 points to opposing offenses in the past five weeks and has averaged fewer than two sacks per game. They have also generated just eight turnovers on the season, one of the lowest totals in the league. To be blunt, the Green Bay defense is not an exciting fantasy option, even in plus matchups. Dallas just put up 49 points on the Chicago Bears last week and should face little resistance this week. Unless the Packers can generate a high number of turnovers, something they have failed to do all season, they will finish outside the top 15 this week. They should be left on the waiver wire in favor of a better option in Week 10.

  • Packers Defense Generates One Turnover Against Detroit

The Green Bay Packers defense surrendered 15 points and recorded one interception during the team's 15-9 loss to the Detroit Lions. With De'Vondre Campbell (knee) out this week, the pass rush for Green Bay was lacking as they failed to generate a single sack. They held a Lions offense that was one of the most explosive to start the season to only 15 points, but it was not enough for the Packers to secure a victory. Green Bay is ranked at the bottom of the league in total turnovers and has recorded more than one sack in two of its last five games. With Dallas up next, Green Bay's defense will be off the streaming radar in Week 10, even if Campbell can return to the field.

  • Packers Defense A Low-Ceiling Streaming Option

The Green Bay Packers defense will take on the Detroit Lions in Week 9. The Packers posted their highest turnover total of the season last week against the Buffalo Bills, interception quarterback Josh Allen twice. However, the Packers have generated the fourth-fewest turnovers this season and are ranked 19th in total sacks. Detroit has allowed only 13 sacks so far this season but have turned the ball over 11 times, the 12th most. The Lions scored just six total points in Weeks 5 and 7 but got back on track last week against Miami and put up 27 in their shootout with the Dolphins. Unless the Packers can generate more turnovers, the defense will likely put up another mediocre fantasy performance. However, with Dallas, San Francisco, Denver, and the New York Giants on a bye, they are in the streaming conversation this week.

  • Packers Defense Forces Two Interceptions During Week 8 Loss

The Green Bay Packers defense surrendered 27 points, recorded two sacks, and forced two interceptions during the team's 27-17 loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 8. Green Bay actually did a decent job against quarterback Josh Allen, holding him a season-low 13 completions. Unfortunately, they had a hard time stopping the big play and had trouble keeping wide receiver Stefon Diggs in check. The team may have also lost pass rusher De'Vondre Campbell (knee), who is an every-down player and key piece for the defense. It will be tough to trust Green Bay against a Detroit offense that is starting to get healthy next week, even with six teams slated to go on bye. Consider the Packers a low-tier streaming option in Week 9.

  • Packers Defense Can Be Left On Waivers For Week 8

The Green Bay Packers defense will travel to Buffalo to play the Bills on Sunday night. The Packers' defense has struggled to generate sacks and turnovers this season, ranking 29th in total turnovers and 16th in sacks. With Buffalo's offense scoring the third-most points so far this season, Green Bay is in for a rough night on the road. The Bills will have no trouble scoring against an underperforming defense, and there is little chance that the Packers will generate turnovers. With so many other viable streaming options available on the waiver wire this week, leaving the Green Bay defense out of your starting lineup is a no-brainer. The Packers likely will not be a great option next week against a Detroit Lions offense that is starting to get healthy.

  • Packers Defense Records A Pick-Six During Week 7 Loss

The Green Bay Packers defense allowed 23 points, recorded one sack, and took their one interception for a 61-yard touchdown during the team's 23-21 loss to the Washington Commanders. Overall, it was a disappointing fantasy performance for those who chose to stream Green Bay against the Commanders' offense led by backup quarterback Taylor Heinicke. The pick-six was the team's first of the season, but the lack of sacks and 23 points allowed led to a less-than-stellar fantasy outing. With just one instance of the team generating multiple turnovers through seven weeks, the Packers defense is nothing more than a low-end streaming option in plus matchups moving forward. Green Bay's defense can be left on the waiver wire with a road matchup against the Buffalo Bills next on the schedule.

  • Packers Defense A Streaming Option Despite Recent Rough Patch

The Green Bay Packers defense will go on the road to face the Washington Commanders in Week 7. After allowing an average of only 15.8 points and generating four turnovers through the first four weeks of the season, Green Bay has allowed 27 points each of the past two weeks and has failed to take the ball away against the New York Giants and Jets. Washington is 27th in total scoring and is a favorable matchup for the Green Bay defense with starter Carson Wentz (finger) out. It is a bounce-back spot for the Packers, but they will need to generate pressure on backup Taylor Heinicke if they are to capitalize for fantasy managers that decide to stream them. Because they are middle of the pack in sacks and are ranked 30th in total turnovers, Green Bay has a low floor for fantasy, but they remain an intriguing streaming option in Week 7.

  • Packers Defense Give Up 27 Points During Week 6 Loss

The Green Bay Packers' defense allowed 27 points and only recorded two sacks during their Week 6 loss to the New York Jets. It was a massively disappointing performance, as the team continues to struggle to generate any turnovers and get to the quarterback. Green Bay was able to shut the passing attack down, holding quarterback Zach Wilson to 110 yards, but they were gashed on the ground for 178 total rushing yards. They have become tough to trust for fantasy purposes but will be a potential streaming option next week against the Carson Wentz-less Washington Commanders. Do not expect a high fantasy point total if you do fire them up in Week 7, but they do have upside against a backup quarterback.

  • Packers Defense Not A Lock For Fantasy Success In Week 6

The Green Bay Packers defense will face the New York Jets in Lambeau this Sunday. The Packers' defense was a letdown for fantasy purposes last week in a plus matchup against a banged-up Giants passing attack, and they do not have as favorable a matchup this week as many may believe. The New York Jets have the 10th-ranked passing offense in the league through five weeks, and have scored seven times on the ground, ranked tied for the seventh-most. Green Bay has generated only four total turnovers and is middle of the pack in total sacks this season. The defense will need to get to the quarterback more often to create turnovers to be a more potent fantasy producer. Green Bay should be considered a low-tier streaming option in Week 6.

  • Packers Defense Disappointing During Week 5 Loss

The Green Bay Packers defense surrendered 27 points, recorded just one sack, and forced a safety during the team's 27-22 loss to the New York Giants Sunday. The safety was a gift by the Giants at the end of the game as they attempted to bleed the clock out, stepping out of the end zone purposefully. Green Bay failed to generate much pressure, even though New York was without their top four wide receivers. It was an extremely disappointing performance, as the Packers' were a top-tier streaming defense this week. They will have a chance to bounce back next week during their home matchup against the New York Jets. However, they have just one interception to their credit through the first five weeks, so they should be considered a low-end streaming option with little upside to finish inside the top five.

  • Packers Defense A Solid Fantasy Option In Week 5

The Green Bay Packers defense will travel to London to face the New York Giants Sunday. Green Bay has held opponents to an average of 15.8 points per game through the first four weeks and has generated four turnovers. The Giants' offense is middle of the pack in terms of total scoring but will be without three of their top four wide receivers Sunday, as Kenny Golladay (knee), Kadarius Toney (hamstring), Wan'Dale Robinson (knee), and Sterling Shepard (ACL, IR) will all be absent. Green Bay will key in on stopping star running back Saquon Barkley while attempting to put pressure on quarterback Daniel Jones to force a few turnovers. With the Packers being eight points favorites in a game with a low 41-point over-under, their defense is a solid streaming option for Week 5.

  • Packers Defense Records Four Sacks, Forces Fumble

The Green Bay Packers defense surrendered 18 points, recorded four sacks, forced one fumble, and recovered it during the team's 27-24 victory overtime victory over the New England Patriots. Six of the Patriots' 24 points came off a pick-six by Jack Jones. It was an overall disappointing performance from a Packers defense that faced not only backup quarterback Brian Hoyer but third-stringer Bailey Zappe, who stepped in for the injured Hoyer. Green Bay has had trouble generating turnovers so far this season. They forced and recovered two fumbles last week but have just one interception through four games. Unless the team can force opposing offenses to make more mistakes, then they will be nothing more than a streaming option for fantasy purposes. They draw another plus matchup next week against the Daniel Jones-led Giants in London. Green Bay should be considered a streaming option in Week 5.

  • Packers Defense Enters Must-Start Territory In Week 4

The Green Bay Packers defense will face the New England Patriots in Green Bay this Sunday. The team had a strong showing against a hobbled Tampa Bay offense, holding them to just 12 points last week. Green Bay also sacked quarterback Tom Brady three times and forced two fumbles, recovering both. The team will look to parlay their success into another strong showing against New England. Not only are the Patriots ranked 25th in total points scored, but they are without starting quarterback Mac Jones (ankle), leaving backup Brian Hoyer as the starter this weekend. The Packers' defense is at the top of many expert's rankings for Week 4 and is a must-start for fantasy in an extremely favorable matchup at home.

  • Packers Defense Holds Tampa Bay To 12 Points

The Green Bay Packers defense held the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to 12 points, recording three sacks and forcing three fumbles while recovering two of them during the team's victory Sunday. It was a great showing against quarterback Tom Brady, but the Buccaneers were without their top three wide receivers, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Julio Jones. Green Bay did lose cornerback Jaire Alexander early in the contest to a groin injury, and head coach Matt LaFleur had no update after the game. It is a big blow to the Green Bay pass defense if Alexander misses time. With the New England Patriots coming to town next weekend, Green Bay's defense will be on the streaming radar.

  • Packers Defense A Risky Streaming Option

The Green Bay Packers defense will go on the road to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this Sunday. After getting blown out by Minnesota during the regular season opener, the Packers defense held Chicago to 10 points while forcing an interception and sacking quarterback Justin Fields three times last week. A matchup against quarterback Tom Brady and the Buccaneers would typically leave a defense off of the fantasy radar, but Green Bay is a potential streaming option in Week 3. Tampa Bay has struggled to put points on the board, failing to score more than 20 points in a game through the first two weeks. The Buccaneers will also be without wide receivers Mike Evans (suspension) and Chris Godwin (hamstring). Julio Jones (knee) and Russell Gage (hamstring) are both questionable as well, and the Bucs' offensive line continues to lose starters as Donovan Smith (elbow) is listed as doubtful. With a potentially low-scoring affair, the Packers' defense should be a decent streaming option for those in need of one in Week 3.

  • Packers Defense Records Three Sacks And A Pick

The Green Bay Packers defense allowed only 10 points, recorded three sacks, and intercepted quarterback Justin Fields once during the team's 27-10 victory over the Chicago Bears. After surrendering 184 yards and two touchdowns to wide receiver Justin Jefferson during last week's 23-7 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, the Packers held Fields and Chicago to just 70 yards through the air. The team had a much easier time getting after the quarterback, recording five quarterback hits and three sacks. It was a step in the right direction for a defense that had no answers for Minnesota a week ago. The team will try to build upon their strong showing next week as they travel to Tampa Bay to face quarterback Tom Brady and the struggling Tampa Bay offense.

  • Packers Defense A Streaming Option Vs. Chicago

The Green Bay Packers defense will host the Chicago Bears in their home opener on Sunday night. The team struggled last weekend against the Minnesota Vikings, allowing wide receiver Justin Jefferson to catch nine passes for 184 yards and two touchdowns. However, they have a more favorable matchup this week against the Justin Fields-led Bears. The Packers' pass rush should have an easier time against the Chicago offensive line, but they will need to generate some turnovers and get to Fields more often than they got to Kirk Cousins last week to make fantasy managers happy. The Packers are a decent streaming option this week, but they do not carry top-five scoring upside.

  • Packers Defense Records Just One Sack In 23-7 Loss

The Green Bay Packers defense gave up two passing touchdowns and three field goals while recording only one sack in their 23-7 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. The team allowed 403 yards of offense, 277 yards through the air, and 126 on the ground. The Packers had no answers for wide receiver Justin Jefferson, who caught nine passes for 184 yards and two touchdowns. The Green Bay offense did their defense no favors, but they did hold the Vikings to just two field goals in the second half. Even after the loss, the Packers' defense will be a streaming option against the Chicago Bears next Sunday night.

Sep 11 · Source via Packers Green Bay Packers
  • Packers Defense - Week 1 Outlook for Fantasy Football

The Green Bay Packers defense will open the season on the road against the Minnesota Vikings. Last season, Green Bay only faced Kirk Cousins once due to the quarterback missing Week 17 and being placed on the Covid-IR. In that game, the Packers allowed three passing touchdowns, one rushing touchdown, and only recorded two sacks. With the Vikings hiring former Rams offensive coordinator Kevin O'Connell as their new head coach, the offense in Minnesota should be a powerful one. Green Bay's D/ST ranked 13th overall in 2021 but was very inconsistent. With the Packers' offense no longer led by Davante Adams and Allen Lazard (ankle) likely out, the defense could struggle with poor field position in Week 1. It would be best to find another option to play this week.
