  • Bengals Defense Disappoints In Week 11

The Cincinnati Bengals defense was high in Week 11 fantasy defense/special teams rankings, but they allowed 30 points and forced zero turnovers against Kenny Pickett and the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Bengals' defense looks good on paper and has been impressive in some spots, but it's far from spectacular and clearly isn't bust-proof in favorable matchups. The Bengals face a red-hot Tennessee Titans team in Week 12, so the range of outcomes for the fantasy defense/special teams is wide.

  • Chidobe Awuzie, Mike Hilton Out For Bengals Defense

The Cincinnati Bengals defense will be without cornerbacks Chidobe Awuzie (knee) and Mike Hilton (finger) for a Week 9 meeting with the Carolina Panthers this Sunday. Cornerback Tre Flowers (hamstring) is also questionable, so Cincy's secondary could be very short-handed against quarterback P.J. Walker and Company. It's good news for Panthers receivers D.J. Moore, Terrace Marshall Jr. and Laviska Shenault Jr. as they try to win their second game without running back Christian McCaffrey, who was traded to the 49ers. The Bengals D/special teams is in play as a streaming option this week against a Panthers offense that has scored under 20 points a game so far this year, but Cincy had one of their worst games on defense in Monday night's loss to the Browns and their secondary is vulnerable.

  • Bengals Defense Looking To Turn Things Around In Week 9

The Bengals defense certainly didn't look the best in Week 8. The unit struggled across the board, allowing Jacoby Brissett to throw for 278 yards while giving up 101 yards and two scores to Nick Chubb. Amari Cooper also found the end zone while adding five catches for 131 yards. With the Panthers on tap in Week 9, Cincy will have to deal with D.J. Moore and D'Onta Foreman. However, PJ Walker is still unproven despite coming off a strong performance versus Atlanta. As a result, the Bengals defense has the potential to produce for fantasy managers looking for a streaming option on Sunday. However, some risk is still involved, even with the favorable opportunity.

  • Bengals Defense Has Upside In Week 8

The Bengals defense hasn't been the most consistent group for fantasy managers in 2022-23. However, things look promising for the Monday night AFC North clash against the Browns. Quarterback Jacoby Brissett hasn't played the best this season, throwing for 1,584 yards, six touchdowns, and five picks while completing 62.7% of his throws. Although Cincy may be without Eli Apple (hamstring), Trey Hendrickson (neck) and Logan Wilson (shoulder) were removed from the injury report after they practiced in full on Friday. As a result, the Bengals defense has upside in Week 8, so fantasy managers should consider the unit for their starting lineups.

  • Bengals Defense Limits Atlanta To 17 Points

The Bengals' defense gave up 17 points to the Falcons on Sunday. Cincy's D had three sacks on the afternoon while limiting quarterback Marcus Mariota to only 124 yards passing. Although it wasn't the best showing, it was still good enough to compliment Joe Burrow's 481-yard, four-touchdown performance. Unfortunately, defensive end Trey Hendrickson (neck) exited and didn't return. If he isn't available for the Week 8 AFC North meeting against the Browns, Cincinnati's defense could take a hit in terms of production.

  • Bengals Defense Looking To Get On Track Against Atlanta

The Bengals defense has been a hit-or-miss fantasy option this season. While Cincy has allowed only 19.2 points per game, the unit struggled in Week 6 against a Saints offense missing Jameis Winston, Jarvis Landry, Chris Olave, and Michael Thomas, which didn't do much to instill confidence in fantasy managers. However, Cincinnati's D will have a chance to turn things around against Marcus Mariota and the Falcons in Week 7. Mariota has thrown for less than 200 yards in all but two games in 2022-23. The team also features Tyler Allgeier and Drake London, two inexperienced rookies, and Kyle Pitts, who hasn't had the breakout most expected.

  • Bengals Defense Underwhelms Against Hobbled Saints

The Bengals defense surrendered 26 points to the Saints on Sunday. While it was good enough to help secure a victory, fantasy managers were expecting a different result, especially with New Orleans down Michael Thomas (foot), Jarvis Landry (ankle), Chris Olave (concussion), and Jameis Winston (back, ankle). The one sack the Bengals D had also wasn't a good look. With that said, the unit still has the potential to make some noise on the fantasy end, including in Week 7 versus the Atlanta Falcons.

  • Bengals Defense Has Upside Versus Hobbled Saints Offense

The Bengals defense enters the Week 6 matchup versus the Saints with a large amount of potential. While the unit has been hit or miss this season, New Orleans could continue to suffer without Michael Thomas (foot) and Jarvis Landry (ankle). To make matters worse, Chris Olave (concussion) is questionable, although he may play after logging a full practice on Friday. Nonetheless, it's not an ideal situation for the Saints, so fantasy managers should strongly consider the Bengals D against longtime Cincinnati signal-Caller Andy Dalton, who will handle things under center for the injured Jameis Winston (ankle, back).

  • Bengals Defense Records Interception, Sack In Loss

The Cincinnati Bengals D/ST recorded just one sack and an interception in the team's Week 5 loss to the Ravens, as they held the Lamar Jackson-led offense to just one touchdown in this one. This defensive unit isn't a must-start option on a weekly basis for fantasy managers, but they could offer some upside in good matchups considering the talent they have on that side of the ball. They'll look to take advantage of a banged-up Saints offense in Week 6.

  • Bengals Defense Warrants Consideration Against Pittsburgh

The Bengals defense had flashes of consistency last season. Did it have some issues occasionally? Sure. However, Cincinnati has most of its group back from 2021-22. While the Bengals D may struggle at times during the year, the fantasy upside is there. As a result, managers certainly should consider starting Cincy's defense in Week 1 versus Pittsburgh, especially with Mitch Trubisky under center.
