Patriots Defense Has Fantasy Appeal In Week 12
The New England Patriots' defense has emerged as a viable fantasy option heading into their Week 12 clash with the New York Giants. It has been a tough season for this Bill Belichick-led unit, but they have a chance to get back on track against inexperienced rookie quarterback Tommy Devito and an injury-plagued Giants offense on Sunday afternoon. Fantasy managers in search of short-term production at the D/ST position should consider the Patriots, who enter this weekend as a top-12 option.

Patriots' Defense Has Streaming Appeal Against Washington

The New England Patriots' defense is a fringe streaming option in Week 9 versus the Washington Commanders. While the Washington offense has shown signs of life at times, including last Sunday when it dropped 31 points on the Eagles, there's no denying that Sam Howell is susceptible to turnovers and an awful lot of sacks. He has eight interceptions, one lost fumble, and a staggering 41 sacks through eight contests this year. The Patriots' defense may be enduring growing pains without Matthew Judon (biceps) and Christian Gonzalez (shoulder), but the unit still has five turnovers over its last three games against strong offenses. The Commanders have surrendered the most fantasy points to opposing defenses, putting the Patriots in a favorable position this week.

Patriots Defense Faces Tough Week 8 Matchup
The New England Patriots' defense lacks fantasy appeal heading into Week 8 versus the Miami Dolphins. While New England found some success in its win over the Buffalo Bills last Sunday, the explosive Miami offense is a whole different beast. The Dolphins can beat team through the air with an elite connection between Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill, or they can change things up and look arguably just as dominant on the ground with Raheem Mostert. Any defense would have a tough time slowing down Miami, let alone a Patriots unit that has underperformed in 2023.

Patriots Defense Lacks Fantasy Appeal For Week 7
The New England Patriots' defense is not a viable fantasy option heading into Week 7 versus the Buffalo Bills. The Patriots have lost each of their last three games, being outscored 93-20 during that span. The offense has struggled to stay on the field and, without Matt Judon (biceps) and Christian Gonzalez (shoulder), the defense has failed to slow down its opponents. Historically one of the best units in the league, Bill Belichick's defense has taken an enormous step back this season, forcing just three turnovers through six games while ranking as the No. 27 D/ST in fantasy football. Avoid the Patriots, especially against a strong Bills offense.

Patriots Defense Tough To Trust In Week 6
The New England Patriots defense is not a very trustworthy option for fantasy football in Week 6. Though a matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders could be tempting for fantasy managers, there are two factors that serve as deterrents. First, the Patriots' defense has endured its fair share of struggles already, and that was before they lost Matthew Judon (biceps) and Christian Gonzalez (shoulder) to injuries. Without those two playmakers, New England's defensive upside dwindles. Second, the Raiders' offense poses a true threat to make big plays and score points. The Packers mustered just one turnover against Jimmy Garoppolo's squad in Week 5, and Davante Adams and Josh Jacobs are no joke. If you're in a bind due to bye weeks, there are certainly worse options than the Patriots. However, managers would be wise to look elsewhere for production at the D/ST slot in Week 6.

Patriots Defense Has Top-12 Upside In Week 5
The New England Patriots D/ST is a borderline top-12 option heading into Week 5 versus the New Orleans Saints. While the Patriots' defense is no longer the elite unit that it once was, it bears mentioning that New England drew a tough start to the season with games against the Eagles, Dolphins, and Cowboys. The Saints, on the other hand, aren't as daunting. New Orleans' offense has allowed opposing D/ST scores to score 7.0 fantasy points per game, which ranks 15th-most in the NFL. The Saints have also surrendered the fourth-most sacks per game (4.0) and 12th-most interceptions per game (0.7). Even with Matthew Judon (biceps) and Christian Gonzalez (shoulder) sidelined indefinitely, this unit, coached by defensive mastermind Bill Belichick, should have a solid week.

Patriots Defense Worth Starting In Week 4
The New England Patriots' defense remains a solid option for Week 4 versus the Dallas Cowboys. Although Dallas has a very talented offense, the Patriots' defense has shown that it can play stellar regardless of matchup. It's also worth noting that if the Cardinals can hold the Cowboys to 16 points while picking off one pass, the Patriots can have a high ceiling, too.

Patriots Defense A Must-Start In Week 3
The New England Patriots defense should be started in all fantasy leagues versus the New York Jets this week. While New England has endured a relatively slow start on both sides of the ball, their defense's lack of excitement can be blamed on two incredibly tough matchups against the Eagles and Dolphins. The Zach Wilson-led Jets offer a much more favorable matchup for the Patriots D/ST, making them a top-five option in fantasy football last week. The unit tallied six sacks, three interceptions, and one touchdown through two games against the Jets in 2022.

Patriots Defense Forces Turnover On Rookie's First Career Interception
The New England Patriots' defense allowed 24 points during a Week 2 loss at the hands of the Miami Dolphins. The Patriots, much like the Chargers in Week 1, had trouble slowing down the Dolphins' red-hot offense. However, to their credit, the unit held Tyreek Hill to 40 yards and rookie Christian Gonzalez notched his first career interception by picking off Tua Tagovailoa. The Patriots are a must-start as they take on the Jets and Zach Wilson next week.

Patriots Defense Difficult To Trust In Week 2
The New England Patriots' defense is worth avoiding in fantasy football ahead of their Week 2 clash with the Miami Dolphins. Although the Patriots' defense is normally considered one of the premier units in football, their upcoming matchup offers a daunting task. Miami quarterback Tua Tagovailoa tossed for 466 yards last Sunday while receiver Tyreek Hill tallied 215 yards of his own. This sets up a predicament for fantasy managers currently rostering the Patriots' defense since they have a more favorable matchup against the Jets in Week 3. As a result, it's tough to justify dropping them, but it's also hard to predict a top-12 finish from the unit against the Dolphins this Sunday.

Patriots Defense Holds Eagles To 251 Yards
The New England Patriots defense sacked quarterback Jalen Hurts three times, forced and recovered one fumble, and held the high-powered Philadelphia Eagles to 251 yards in the Week 1 loss. Ultimately, this was viewed as a tough matchup for New England's fantasy defense/special teams unit, but it looks like a formidable defense overall and could smash in favorable matchups. However, the Patriots face the Dolphins, Jets, and Cowboys in their next three games, who all are expected to high top-10 offenses in 2023.
