Rashaad Penny Dealing With Minor Injury
Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny (groin) is unlikely to suit up for the preseason opener. He is feeling some minor groin tightness, so the organization is going to be cautious with him. This doesn't sound like a serious issue, but any soft-tissue injury is noteworthy. Kenneth Walker III will see more snaps without Penny available, but hopefully Penny won't miss significant time. Walker appears to be behind Penny on the depth chart, but there is still time for that to change.

With Chris Carson gone, can Rashaad Penny 'take off' as Seahawks' RB1?
The light came on for Penny at the end of the last season, putting him in position to be the premier back the Seahawks thought he could be.
Aug 3 · ESPN Seahawks Chris Carson Rashaad PennyRashaad Penny To Be Clear-Cut No. 1 RB
Chris Carson's retirement means that Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny will enter the 2022 season as the team's clear-cut No. 1 option for the first time in his career. But the "as-long-as-he-stays-healthy" qualifier might apply to him more than any player in the NFL given that he's missed 30 of a possible 69 games in his career due to injury (playoffs included). Penny has also carried the ball 20-plus times in a game just twice in his career. The Seahawks will manage his snaps and give some work to rookie Kenneth Walker III, but the second-rounder will also have to prove to the coaching staff that he's ready. Penny has plenty of potential but also a low floor because of his injury history. The 26-year-old was one of the best RBs in the league down the stretch in 2021, but his extensive injury history makes him more of an RB3 target with upside in drafts.

Rashaad Penny Expected To Be Primary Back
As long as he stays healthy, Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny will be the starter and primary RB for Seattle in 2022 with Chris Carson's (neck) status currently unknown. But Penny has never had more than 119 carries in a season due to injuries of his own. If Carson can't play, The Seattle Times' Bob Condotta thinks it's a realistic projection that Penny gets around 20 carries a game after averaging 20.25 in the four 100-yard games he had at the end of last year. Rookie Kenneth Walker III would get most of the change-of-pace work, with Travis Homer and/or DeeJay Dallas getting in a few third-down/two-minute back role work per game. Penny was one of the best backs in football down the stretch in 2021, but his lengthy injury history will make him a risk/reward RB3/flex in fantasy drafts.

Rashaad Penny: "I Feel Amazing"
Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny was in attendance during the club's recent minicamp. The 26-year-old has dealt with more than enough injuries over the years. However, he recently reported feeling "amazing," so hopefully, he will continue to stay that way. The former San Diego State Aztec is coming off the best season of his career by finishing 2021 with 749 yards and six touchdowns off 119 touches. With Chris Carson (neck) uncertain for Week 1 and beyond, Penny could cement his spot atop the depth chart. He only signed a one-year deal with Seattle this offseason, so he may have some extra incentive to remain healthy and on the field during the 2022-23 campaign. Managers should keep an eye on him, especially for those who need a back later during fantasy drafts.

Rashaad Penny Participating In OTAs
Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny (hamstring) is practicing at the team's voluntary organized team activities this week after he missed last week with a sore hamstring. Given Penny's extensive injury history, a lot was made about him missing OTAs last week due to injury. But the 26-year-old is already back and should be fine for training camp this summer. The former first-rounder was one of the best all-around running backs in fantasy to close out last year, and he finished with career-highs in carries (119), rushing yards (749) and touchdowns (six) while adding six catches for 48 yards in 10 games (six starts). The injury risk is always there, but if Chris Carson (neck) isn't ready to go by the season opener, Penny should see the majority of backfield work.

Rashaad Penny Nursing Injury
Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny (hamstring) is currently nursing an injury, according to head coach Pete Carroll. The season is three months away, but this is not a good sign for a player with a long injury history. The former first round pick has played in 37 games through four seasons. However, Penny finished with a career-high 749 rushing yards through 10 games last season. Chris Carson (neck) has a blurry timetable, so Penny and rookie Kenneth Walker could compete for the starting role in Seattle.
