  • Rashaad Penny Facing Four-Month Recovery

Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny (leg) is facing a four-month recovery after he has surgery to fix a fractured fibula. On a one-year deal, he'll be healthy with plenty of time to take free-agent visits once he officially hits the open market next March. Penny will have surgery on Tuesday morning, but the MRI exam on his injured ankle came back relatively clean with no deltoid or associated issues. He will undergo tight-rope surgery and have his fibula plated to stabilize his ankle. Fantasy managers can safely drop the 26-year-old in single-year leagues. In his absence, rookie Kenneth Walker III will become the primary back in Seattle, with DeeJay Dallas stepping up for an elevated role behind him for the rest of the season.

  • Rashaad Penny's Season Is Over

Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny (ankle, leg) suffered a broken fibula in the Week 5 loss to the New Orleans Saints and will miss the rest of the season, according to head coach Pete Carroll. Penny also suffered a high-ankle sprain. The oft-injured 26-year-old will undergo surgery on his leg. He'll finish the 2022 season with 57 carries for 346 yards (6.1 yards per carry) and two touchdowns while also adding four catches on five targets for 16 yards in five games played. Penny will enter free agency this winter with plenty of injury questions. In his absence, rookie Kenneth Walker III is now in line to take over lead-back duties in Seattle, with DeeJay Dallas also in line for more work as the No. 2. Walker will be one of the most popular waiver-wire pickups this week.

  • Rashaad Penny To Undergo Testing On Monday

Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny (leg) is set to undergo further testing on Monday to determine whether surgery is needed. The 26-year-old suffered a fractured fibula during Sunday's loss to the New Orleans Saints. The expectation is that Penny is going to be sidelined for the rest of the season. That means, Kenneth Walker III and DeeJay Dallas will need to pick up the slack in the backfield. In Week 5, Walker finished with 88 yards and a touchdown on eight carries. He's going to be one of the hottest pickups on the waiver wire this week with Penny likely lost for the year.

  • Rashaad Penny Suffers Fractured Tibia

Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny (leg) was diagnosed with a fractured tibia, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. It was initially believed that the 26-year-old suffered an ankle injury. However, the news is much worse, with Penny next heading for testing to determine if surgery is required. The oft-injured veteran, who played only 13 games over the last two seasons, may be done for a while, if not for the remainder of the 2022-23 campaign. With Travis Homer (ribs) on the injured reserve list, the team will likely turn to Kenneth Walker III and DeeJay Dallas, although the former is expected to lead the backfield. Walker finished the Week 5 loss to the Saints by amassing 88 yards and a touchdown off eight carries. The rookie will surely draw waiver interest during the week, so fantasy managers should be prepared to act.

  • Rashaad Penny Carted To Locker Room, Doubtful To Return

Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny (ankle) was carted to the locker room during the third quarter of Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints. He had his left shoe off while riding the cart, all while receiving support from teammates. The team quickly announced that he is doubtful to return. The 26-year-old rushed eight times for 54 yards before exiting. Rookie Kenneth Walker will handle lead-back duties in Penny's absence.

  • Rashaad Penny Returns To Practice Thursday

Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny (shoulder) returned to practice Thursday. He was dealing with a shoulder issue and held out of Wednesday's practice. The 26-year-old returned Thursday and is expected to play against the New Orleans Saints in Week 5. Penny had a season-high 18 touches and shredded the Lions' defense by racking up 157 yards from scrimmage in the Week 4 win over the Seahawks. Penny will be the Seahawks' lead back and is a borderline RB2 against a Saints defense that ranks 13th in rush DVOA this season.

  • Rashaad Penny Doesn't Practice Wednesday

Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny (shoulder) was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice. He is dealing with a shoulder issue and was spotted on the side during warmups but did not practice. The 26-year-old shredded the Lions in the Week 4 win with 151 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Penny will have two more chances to practice before the Seahawks determine his status for Week 6 against the New Orleans Saints. Kenneth Walker III and DeeJay Dallas would see an uptick in usage if Penny cannot suit up in Week 6.

  • Rashaad Penny A Flex Play In Week 5

Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny had a breakout game against the Detroit Lions in Week 4, rushing 17 times for 151 yards and two touchdowns while catching a six-yard pass. Penny will look to keep it going in Week 5's road matchup against the New Orleans Saints. The Saints have been tough on enemy running backs in 2022, allowing the sixth-fewest fantasy points per game to the position through four games. Penny reminded everyone in Week 4 of how explosive he can be and is worth starting as an upside flex play in Week 5.

  • Rashaad Penny Has Monster Game In Week 4

Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny looked to be bottled up early during Sunday's contest against the Detroit Lions. Luckily, Penny was able to find his groove and get back on track. He rushed 17 times for 151 yards and two touchdowns in the win over the Lions. Penny came through with some big plays in this game, but he can't always be trusted to do this well. The fifth-year back is clearly an important part of this offense, so his carries should remain consistent. He'll be on the RB2 radar for the Week 5 matchup against the New Orleans Saints.

  • Rashaad Penny Week 4 Outlook For Fantasy Football

Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny has gotten off to a slow start in 2022. Penny has 141 yards on 32 carries through three games while still looking for his first touchdown. He will head on the road to take on the Detroit Lions in Week 4. Detroit's defense has struggled to contain opposing running backs in 2022, allowing the most fantasy points per game to the position through three games. Penny is in a position to break out against the Lions in Week 4, but he should still be treated as an RB3 in fantasy thanks to his struggles in the early going.

  • Rashaad Penny Rushes For 66 Yards In Week 3 Loss

Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny was the clear backfield leader in the loss against the Atlanta Falcons. He had 14 carries for 66 yards and one reception for 3 yards. There was some concern going into the game that the rookie Kenneth Walker III would look to have an established role in a time-share backfield, but it seems like Penny will continue to be the RB1 for the time being. The Seahawks have been pretty pass-heavy this season, as they have to play from behind quite often, which will limit Penny to being a low-end RB2.

  • Rashaad Penny - Week 3 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny will look to be more involved this week after only getting six carries in Week 2. Last week was very forgettable for Penny as he only saw six carries and finished with 15 rushing yards. The Seahawks were down for most of the game, so the lack of usage is likely due to the negative game script. The interesting thing to monitor is the split carries with rookie Kenneth Walker III, who saw four carries for 10 yards last week. At this point, it looks like a 60-40 split in this backfield, and the Seahawks maybe be able to get the lead this game, and we'll get some more insight on which running back will get the majority of carries. For Week 3, Penny is a high-end RB3.

  • Rashaad Penny Held To 15 Yards In Week 2 Loss

Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny had a forgettable game against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2. The 26-year-old had six carries for 15 yards, finishing with a very low 2.5 yards-per-carry. Today marked the first game sharing the backfield with rookie Kenneth Walker III, who had four carries for 10 yards. It seems like it could be a 60-40 type split going forward, at least while Walker is easing back into action, but the Seahawks were playing from behind the majority of the game and somewhat abandoned the run today. Hopefully, we get some more clarity on this backfield next week will be more telling against the Atlanta Falcons.

  • Rashaad Penny - Week 2 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Rashaad Penny will likely lead the backfield in the Week 2 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. The 26-year-old carried the ball 12 times last week, finishing with 60 yards and no touchdowns. This week will be very telling as rookie running back Kenneth Walker III will make his debut after missing Week 1 with an injury. Penny will likely get the majority of touches as Walker eases into action, but this will give a glimpse of exactly how the backfield will be split going forward. With Walker suiting up and the stout 49ers defensive front against a weak Seattle offensive line, Penny will be a high-end RB3 this week.

  • Kenneth Walker III Practices In Full On Wednesday

Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III (hernia) practiced in full Wednesday. He had surgery for a hernia in mid-August and was inactive for Monday's Week 1 win over the Denver Broncos. "Kenny Walker is going to be out there this week for us to add to that, said head coach Pete Carroll. The 21-year-old will make his NFL debut against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2. Walker will serve as Seattle's RB2 behind Rashaad Penny, who logged 12 carries for 60 yards, and two catches for seven yards In Monday's win over the Broncos. Fantasy managers should continue to stash Walker, but due to the uncertainty of his role, he is not recommended flex option in Week 2.

  • Rashaad Penny Rushes For 60 Yards In Week 1 Win

Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny led the backfield with 12 carries for 60 yards and zero touchdowns. The lack of rushing attempts was a bit strange, considering the Seahawks were leading most of the game. Nonetheless, Penny was the clear backfield leader, getting 12 of the 19 rush attempts (6 of which were from quarterback Geno Smith). Kenneth Walker III was ruled out shortly before game time, but he does have a chance to play in Week 2. Penny will likely still be the lead back but should only be viewed as a low-end RB2 for the time being.

  • Kenneth Walker III Practices On Saturday

Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III (hernia) was a limited participant during Saturday's practice. As a result, he is considered questionable ahead of Monday's matchup versus Denver. While the update is positive, the rookie isn't a lock to see the field for the team's opener. However, even if Walker suits up, he may see fewer snaps behind Rashaad Penny than initially expected. Fantasy managers shouldn't take any chances, so removing him from starting lineups in Week 1 is highly recommended.

  • Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker III Could Play Week 1

Not much is expected of the Seahawks’ passing attack this season, but their ground game could be a strength of the team given their investment in the position. • Rashaad Penny The Clear Lead Back In Seattle

At the moment, Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny is a better running back than rookie Kenneth Walker III (hernia), according to The Athletic's Michael-Shawn Dugar. Whenever Walker is healthy enough to play, it may take him some time to get into a rhythm after missing time during training camp due to his injury. And by then, DeeJay Dallas and Travis Homer may have established themselves as being worthy of more early down carries. Penny was one of the best running backs in the NFL to close out last season, but he's been extremely injury-prone in his career, making him more of an RB3/flex target for fantasy managers in an offense that figures to struggle to move the ball consistently. Walker will be a great handcuff pick for those that roster Penny.
