Fantasy Advice

Best pure runner in the NFL? That is what the experts say, but it doesn't equate to top fantasy points because of the lack of catches. He hit 27 last year, second highest of his five-year career. Kareem Hunt is gone but we can't expect an increase in workload for Chubb after 302 carries in 2022. His previous high, 298 in 2019, led to missed games in 2020. Always some risk with a high touch back. Counterpoint: Chubb is in his prime. A solid, consistent contributor to anchor your backfield after starting stud WR in the first round.

Nick Chubb‘s season-ending knee injury has led some to question his ability to return to football given the nature of the damage seemingly done during the Week 2 Monday night contest. Headshot for Nick Chubb

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb (knee) suffered a season-ending injury during the Week 2 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. At first glance, this looked like possibly a career-ending injury for the superstar back. Luckily, it ended up being better than some people originally thought. Chubb has suffered a torn MCL and given a recovery timetable of six to eight months. The surgery hasn't happened yet, so this timetable could change. However, it sounds like Chubb could be back in action as early as the beginning of next season.

    Headshot for Nick Chubb

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb (knee) suffered a gruesome injury on Monday night in the team's 26-22 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Head coach Kevin Stefanski shortly announced after the game that Chubb would be out for the season with a knee injury. The road to recovery is a long one for the star running back, and he could undergo two separate knee surgeries, according to NFL Insider Josina Anderson. Anderson said there have been "initial discussions" of it, with the first surgery coming "within the next 7-10 days, and the second occurring several weeks after." Nothing has been confirmed yet.

  • Nick Chubb Done For The Season

    Headshot for Nick Chubb

Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed on Tuesday what was expected all along: that running back Nick Chubb (knee) is out for the season after suffering a gruesome injury in Monday night's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. "Nick's got a very significant knee injury," Stefanski said. "You feel for the person. He's a great football player as we know, but he's an even better person. we will support him every step of the way." Stefanski said Chubb will need an MRI for an exact diagnosis when asked about a report that Chubb suffered multiple torn knee ligaments. There's no expectation that he will be able to return this season. It's a crushing blow to fantasy managers and the Browns offense the rest of the way. Jerome Ford will be the priority waiver-wire pickup this week if he's available in your league, with Pierre Strong Jr. being a consolation prize.

  • Nick Chubb Likely Out For Season With Knee Injury

    Headshot for Nick Chubb

Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski expects running back Nick Chubb (knee) to miss the rest of the season after suffering a significant knee injury in Monday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. While we await an official diagnosis following tests on the four-time Pro Bowler's left knee, it appears to be a debilitating blow to a run-centric Browns offense built to feature Chubb's hyper-efficient rushing skills. The 27-year-old tore the PCL, MCL and LCL in the same knee during his Georgia career back in 2015. Jerome Ford, who stockpiled 131 yards and a touchdown on 19 touches on Monday, deserves to be the top waiver-wire add ahead of Week 3 while Pierre Strong Jr. is also worth a look in deep leagues. Cleveland could also elevate undrafted rookie Hassan Hall from their practice squad, but it's fair to expect them to explore the free-agent or trade market for backfield reinforcements in the coming days.

  • Nick Chubb Carted Off And Will Not Return On Monday Night

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb (knee) suffered a knee injury that was so graphic that the broadcast would not show the replay. The star back was officially ruled out for the rest of the game after being carted off to the locker room. There haven't been any X-rays or tests just yet, but based on the look of things, it seems like he could be in line to miss some time. Jerome Ford entered the game for Chubb and seems to be the RB1 for at least the rest of the night. Fantasy managers will want to stay tuned for any injury updates that would provide a timetable for Chubb.

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb topped the 100-yard rushing mark in last week's win over the Cincinnati Bengals. He will now travel on the road to face off against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2's Monday night game. The Steelers were ripped by Christian McCaffrey last week, allowing him to rack up 152 rushing yards and a touchdown. Chubb isn't as versatile as CMC in the passing game but he did haul in a respectable four receptions against the Bengals last week. Fantasy gamers can fire Chubb up as a top-five fantasy running back in Week 2.

  • Jack Conklin Suffers Torn ACL, MCL

    Headshot for Nick Chubb

Cleveland Browns right tackle Jack Conklin (knee) suffered a torn ACL and MCL in the team's Week 1 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, effectively ending his 2023 season. The two-time first-team All-Pro selection suffered a torn ACL in 2017, so a second major knee injury is disappointing. Rookie fourth-round pick Dawand Jones is slated to start at right tackle moving forward. Running back Nick Chubb and quarterback Deshaun Watson could be slightly affected by a downgraded overall offensive line.

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb carried the ball 18 times for 106 yards and added four catches for 21 yards in a 24-3 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1. Chubb turned in a solid performance on a rainy, slippery afternoon in Cleveland in a game where the Browns led the entire way. His production in the passing attack was also encouraging as Chubb only went over three receptions once in all of the 2022 season. Chubb will be a top-six running back in Week 2's road matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

  • Nick Chubb A Strong RB1 In Season Opener

    Headshot for Nick Chubb

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb will kick off his 2023 season with a home tilt against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals were tough against the run in 2022, allowing the seventh-fewest fantasy points per game to the running back position. Chubb should see more work in the passing attack this season after the Browns let Kareem Hunt leave as a free-agent and have unproven sophomore runners Jerome Ford and Pierre Strong Jr. as his backups. Chubb can be trusted as a top-six fantasy running back heading into Week 1.

  • Nick Chubb Still A Top Fantasy Back

    Headshot for Nick Chubb

The Athletic's Zac Jackson believes that Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb is still a first-round fantasy asset that is powerful, durable and explosive. Cleveland is going to be a more open offense and will use quarterback Deshaun Watson as a runner, but it's unlikely that they're going to forget about Chubb and their experienced, highly paid offensive line. Chubb is also in line for more passing-game work with Kareem Hunt gone and plenty of uncertainty behind him. Even if the Browns aren't a run-first and run-second offense, Jackson thinks Chubb is still going to get plenty of opportunities. In an NFL with most teams using committee backfield approaches, Chubb is easily a top-five fantasy RB.

  • Nick Chubb To See More Third-Down Usage

    Headshot for Nick Chubb

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb is expected to be utilized more on third downs this season, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. Elaborating on his role, Cabot wrote, "They're also planning to use Chubb more on third down this year, especially while [Jerome] Ford gets back up to speed, and Deshaun Watson will keep some tread on Chubb's tires with designed runs and RPOs." The 27-year-old remains one of the most impactful running backs in football, and it's fair to view him as a top-five fantasy back this season. He'll look to start 2023 on a high note when the Browns face the Bengals in Week 1.

  • Nick Chubb To See More Targets This Season?

    Headshot for Nick Chubb

Cleveland Browns running backs coach Stump Mitchell expressed confidence in Nick Chubb's abilities as a pass-catcher. But Mitchell acknowledged Chubb never received a chance to thrive in that area, primarily with Kareem Hunt in the equation. That's not to say the 27-year-old will definitely be more involved in catching balls out of the backfield. However, the Browns have unproven options behind him, so it's logical to assume he will see an uptick in targets. Chubb has smashed the 1,000-yard rushing mark in each of the last four seasons. On the other hand, he hasn't had more than 278 receiving yards in any season. That said, Chubb's fantasy stock was already high heading into the 2023-24 campaign, but it may increase even more for those participating in PPR formats after Mitchell's recent comment.

  • Nick Chubb Unlikely To Play Much Thursday

    Headshot for Nick Chubb

Cleveland Browns running backs Nick Chubb and Jerome Ford likely won't receive many, if any offensive snaps in Thursday's Hall of Fame game against the New York Jets. Ford could suit up and take carries, but his preseason workload could be saved for the final three games. Behind then, we'll see a competition between Demetric Felton Jr., John Kelly Jr., Nate McCrary and Hassan Hall. Felton will likely receive the biggest rushing workload of his career in the preseason. He's mainly been used at receiver since he was drafted by the Browns in the sixth round in 2021. The 27-year-old Chubb will once again be the workhorse in Cleveland's backfield in 2023 if healthy, making him a shoe-in as a top-five fantasy RB1.
