QB # 2 (Tier 1)

Position Rankings

Rank Name Bye Age ADP1 PPG2 Comment
Tier 1
1 Patrick Mahomes, KC 12 26.2 2.10 28.7

Mike's Thoughts: In Superflex, I could see taking Mahomes over CMC. In 1QB leagues, I probably don't draft Mahomes at all unless he falls considerably (4th round).

2 Josh Allen, BUF 7 25.5 3.09 28.5

Mike's Thoughts: It is well documented how much Allen worked after the 2019 season that led to a huge improvement in 2020. So, I'm not expecting him to backslide in 2021. He hasn't got the weapons of Patrick Mahomes (Travis Kelce) and plays in a tougher division, but I don't see the drop-off from Mahomes as that significant. Drafted Allen 4.05 (35) in a 1QB 10-team best ball on 7/20. Drafted Allen 5.08 (56) in RazzBowl on 7/27.

Tier 2
3 Lamar Jackson, BAL 8 24.8 5.03 25.0
4 Aaron Rodgers, GB 13 37.9 5.09 27.2

Mike's Thoughts: Rodgers moves up on the news he is expected to play for the Packers this season. I might move him ahead of Murray, who could run less, but still want to be a bit careful with Rodgers in case the saga takes yet another turn. Not a major concern but the Packers will be motivated to get Jordan Love some game action at some point. Drafted Rodgers 1.12 (12) in 12-team Superflex best ball (FFPC format) in early-August.

  • Josh Allen Slings Four Touchdowns In Victory

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen picked apart the New Orleans Saints defense during their Week 12 matchup. Allen completed 23-of-28 passing attempts for 260 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions in the win. It's also worth noting that he added eight rushing attempts for 43 additional yards on the ground. Allen was fairly solid throughout the game besides his two questionable throws that resulted in interceptions. Allen has also thrown multiple interceptions in three of his last four games. Despite that, fantasy managers should feel fine with him as a QB1 for the Week 13 matchup with the New England Patriots.

  • Josh Allen - Week 12 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has hit a bit of a rough patch since the Week 7 bye. The good news is, Allen has thrown multiple touchdowns in eight of his last nine games. Sadly, Allen has also thrown five interceptions over his last three games. He'll head into a Week 12 matchup against the sixth ranked passing defense in the New Orleans Saints. Although, it's worth noting that the Saints have struggled to contain good quarterbacks this season. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect an excellent performance, but Allen should produce QB1 value.

  • Josh Allen Struggles Versus Colts

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen failed to have much success at all versus the Indianapolis Colts in Week 11. He completed 21-of-35 passing attempts for 209 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions in the loss. To be fair, the weather didn't help Allen, but he made some awful throws in this game. Honestly, Allen could've thrown a handful of picks in this game if the defenders didn't drop them. Fantasy managers shouldn't be too concerned going forward. Allen has been sharp in most his outings this season. He should bounce back nicely against the New Orleans Saints next week.

  • Josh Allen - Week 11 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has thrown two or more touchdowns in seven of his last eight games. He has posted a few duds, but has been arguably an MVP candidate throughout most of the season. That trend should continue against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 11. Allen will play against a defense that has allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. The Colts have struggled to slow down quarterbacks and Allen is a dual-threat option who can hurt you in multiple ways. Fantasy managers should feel confident with Allen as a QB1 for this matchup.

  • Bills Offensive Line Injuries May Cause Issues for Josh Allen

The Buffalo Bills announced on Thursday that they were placing right tackle Spencer Brown on the reserve/COVID list. The last time Brown missed a game, the Bills had to reshuffle their entire offensive line to accommodate the loss. Oh, that game was against Jacksonville, where Josh Allen was running for his life the entire game. Jacksonville has a much better pass rush than Indianapolis, but this is a legitimate concern for Allen and the Bills. You're still starting him in fantasy leagues, but it may mean fewer deep passes with less time in the pocket to let things develop. That could mean a bigger game for Cole Beasley, if he plays, or Dawson Knox in the short and intermediate passing game

  • Josh Allen Gets Back On Track In Week 10

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen didn't look like himself last week in the loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, the young quarterback was able to turn it around during the Week 10 matchup against the New York Jets. Allen completed 21-of-28 passing attempts for 366 yards with two touchdowns and one interception in the win. It only took a week for Allen to find his rhythm again. Fantasy managers should expect Allen to continue succeeding against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 11. He should be a solid QB1 against the shaky Colts secondary.

  • Josh Allen - Week 10 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is coming off his worst game of the season last week. However, he has a tremendous chance of rebounding against the New York Jets in Week 10. A defense that ranks last in pass DVOA this season. Through eight games, Allen has over 2,200 passing yards with 17 touchdowns and five interceptions. He has thrown multiple touchdowns in every game, but two this season. Fantasy managers should fully expect Allen to bounce back and be an elite QB1 for Week 10.

  • Josh Allen Looks Awful Against Jaguars

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was expected to be an elite QB1 for the Week 9 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Instead, Allen was straight up horrendous and couldn't get anything going in the surprising loss to Jacksonville. Allen completed 31-of-47 passing attempts for 264 yards with zero touchdowns and two interceptions. He also added five carries for 50 yards and one fumble on the ground. The saying "any given Sunday" really came true here. The hope is that Allen will bounce back with a tremendous matchup against the New York Jets in Week 10.

  • Josh Allen - Week 9 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has really turned it around after a slow start to the season. Coming into Week 9, Allen has nearly 2,000 passing yards with 15 touchdowns and three interceptions through seven games. Fantasy managers should be happy about that and his elite matchup in Week 9. He'll get a Jacksonville Jaguars defense that ranks last in DOVA so far this season. This secondary has been destroyed by average quarterbacks, so Allen should have no issues. Fantasy managers should consider Allen an elite QB1 for this week.

  • Josh Allen Scores Three Times In Week 8

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen had to put this offense on his back during the Week 8 game against the Miami Dolphins. Allen completed 29-of-42 passing attempts for 249 yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions in the win. He also added 55 yards on eight rushing attempts and another score on the ground. It was a slow start for the Bills offense in this game, but they turned it on in the second half. Fantasy managers are finally getting rewarded for sticking with Allen through his slow start. Allen will be an elite QB1 against the horrendous Jacksonville Jaguars defense next week.

  • Josh Allen - Week 8 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has turned it around after a fairly slow start to the season. Over the last two games, Allen has thrown over 300 yards in both contests with six combined touchdowns. Now, Allen will head into a matchup against a Dolphins defense that ranks 26th in pass DVOA so far in 2021. Allen didn't have much success against them in their first matchup, but this one should go better for him. Fantasy managers should feel comfortable with Allen as a QB1 for this game. He has been hot lately and beginning to look like the Josh Allen we all saw last season.

  • Josh Allen Comes Up Short Versus Titans

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen did everything he could versus the Tennessee Titans in Week 6. He completed 35-of-47 passing attempts for 353 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. Allen also added a team-high nine carries for 26 yards on the ground in the loss. Sadly, he came up one yard short and on the keeper late in the fourth quarter. It's a tough loss for the Bills, but Allen did his job and gave an epic performance. He'll head into a bye week now, but has put himself in the MVP conversation with his performance this season.

  • Josh Allen - Week 6 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is coming off a tremendous performance against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 5. He threw for over 300 yards with three touchdowns and added 50-plus yards and another score on the ground. The young quarterback has once again inserted himself into the MVP conversation. He'll now head into a matchup against the Titans defense that ranks 25th in pass DVOA so far in 2021. Allen has stacked offensive weapons and is coming off a red-hot game. He should be a solid QB1 in a favorable matchup against the Titans in Week 6.

  • Josh Allen Makes Easy Work Of Chiefs

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen had no problems against the Kansas City Chiefs defense in Week 5. He completed 15-of-26 passing attempts for 315 yards with three touchdowns and zero interceptions in the win. Allen also added 59 yards on 11 carries and another score on the ground. The young quarterback put together a masterful performance. He'll remain one of the best fantasy quarterbacks for the Week 6 matchup against the Tennessee Titans. Allen is quickly putting himself in the MVP conversation once again.

  • Josh Allen An Elite Option Versus Chiefs

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has been fairly average through the first four games of the season. Although, he has thrown multiple touchdowns in three of his first four contests. He'll get an extremely favorable matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs defense in Week 5. A defense that has allowed the third-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. Allen should have no issues in this one and should be considered a high-end QB1 for this matchup.

  • Josh Allen Handles Texans With Ease

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen didn't make many mistakes during the Week 4 battle with the Houston Texans. He completed 20-of-29 passing attempts for 248 yards and two touchdowns and one interception in the 40-0 win. Allen also added six rushing attempts for 41 yards in what was a fairly solid day for him. He calmed down after his explosive four-touchdown game in Week 3. Although, fantasy managers should expect Allen to be a high-end QB1 for their matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs next week.

  • Josh Allen Has Favorable Matchup In Week 4

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen came out of the gate slowly, but put together an epic performance in Week 3. Finally, fantasy managers were able to get the Josh Allen that they expected heading into the season. He threw for 358 yards and four touchdowns during the Week 3 victory. He should continue that kind of success against the shaky Houston Texans defense this week. Surprisingly, the Texans defense has been middle of the road when it does to stopping quarterbacks. However, they're stuck using backup quarterback Davis Mills, which means the defense will be on the field quite often. Eventually, the Texans defense will get tired and Allen will strike. He should be considered a high-end QB1 for Week 4.

  • Josh Allen Has Monster Game Versus Washington

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen had an unusually slow start to the season, but was on point in Week 3. Allen completed 32-of-43 passing attempts for 358 passing yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions in the win over the Washington Football Team. He also added four rushing attempts for nine yards and one score on the ground. The Washington defense is normally strong against the pass, but could do nothing to stop Allen. Fantasy managers should expect more of this against the Houston Texans in Week 4. The Josh Allen Show is back and stronger than ever.

  • Josh Allen Could Struggle Against Washington

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has not been able to get into a groove to start the 2021 season. He has thrown three passing touchdowns against two tough defenses, but it won't get easier in Week 3. Allen will face off against the Washington Football Team defense that allowed the second-fewest passing touchdown scores in the league last season. Through two games, Allen has only completed 33.3 percent of his pass attempts. Fantasy managers might have to deal with another dud from Allen before he gets an easier matchup to begin October.

  • Josh Allen Continues Slow Start To Season

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is coming off a tremendous 2020 campaign. That being said, fantasy managers expected Allen to be an elite fantasy option heading into this season. Sadly, Allen has come out of the gate slowly through two games. In Week 2, he completed 17-of-33 passing attempts for 179 yards and two touchdowns and one interception. He also rushed five times for 35 yards on the ground in the blowout win over the Miami Dolphins. Fantasy managers shouldn't panic since Allen has been given two tough matchups to begin the season. It won't get much easier against the Washington Football Team in Week 3. Fantasy managers might have to deal with at least one more below average performance from Allen.

Sep 19 · Source via Bills Josh Allen
  • Josh Allen Should Rebound Versus Dolphins

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was fairly average during the season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He threw for 270 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions in the loss. Allen gets another tough matchup against the Miami Dolphins secondary that allowed the second-fewest passing touchdowns last season. Despite that, Allen has a stacked set of wideouts and can get it done with both his run and legs. Fantasy managers should continue to trust Allen, but they shouldn't expect a three-touchdown type of performance out of him.

Sep 17 · Source via Bills Josh Allen
  • Josh Allen Gets Tough Assignment Week 1

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is no doubt one of the best options to have at QB this fantasy season. However, he'll get a tough matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers defense in Week 1. A secondary that allowed the third-fewest amount of passing yards in 2020. The Steelers didn't have any major changes on defense over the offseason, so they should remain a tough team defensive. That being said, Allen could have his share of struggles. Despite that, Allen remains a QB1, but fantasy managers might just get a sub-par outing Week 1 against a tough team.
