Dalton Schultz Has Tough Matchup In Week 4

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz hasn't been utilized much in the passing game this season. In a Week 4 matchup at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers, he'll have to overcome a tough matchup. Schultz has just seven catches for 47 yards through three contests with two games under 2.5 PPR fantasy points. The Steelers have been solid against tight ends so far, holding San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle and Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku to under 10 PPR fantasy points. Schultz should only be started in deeper formats in Week 4.

Dalton Schultz A Low-End TE1 Option

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz is looking to get on track in Week 3 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. It hasn't been smooth sailing for Schultz with his new team through the first two weeks. He has just six catches for 38 yards to begin the season and finished outside the top 25 at the tight end position in fantasy in both weeks. Schultz did see an impressive seven targets in Week 2. But he finished with just four catches for 34 yards in the contest. In a matchup facing Jacksonville's secondary, Schultz is a low-end TE1 option in Week 3.

Dalton Schultz - Week 2 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz (thigh) was almost non-existent in the passing game in Week 1. But he'll look to see more consistency in Week 2 at home against the Indianapolis Colts. Schultz had just two catches for four yards in Houston's season opener loss, however, there were positives from the tight end. He ran 43 routes, five more than any Houston wide receiver, and also played 81% of the team's snaps. Schultz was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice with a thigh issue, but practiced in full on Thursday. He should be on track to suit up in Week 2 and is a low-end TE1 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Dalton Schultz Puts In Limited Practice Wednesday

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz (thigh) was listed as a limited practice participant on Wednesday. Schultz's status is one to watch heading into the weekend, but the fact that he even practiced at all is a good sign for his availability heading into Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts. The 27-year-old's debut with the team in the Week 1 loss to the Baltimore Ravens didn't go so well, as he caught just two of four targets for a measly four yards. He'll have a chance to bounce back in a much better matchup this Sunday, but until further notice, Schultz should be considered more of a low-end TE2 in fantasy in an offense that is going to have its share of growing pains under rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud this year.

Dalton Schultz Held To Just Two Catches In Week 1

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz reeled in just two passes for four yards in Sunday's 25-9 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Schultz saw four targets on the day, but he was almost non-existent in the passing game under rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud. It was a positive sign, though, that he ran 43 routes on Sunday, five more than any Houston wide receiver. The tight end was out there for all but one of Stroud's throws. Schultz will look to get on the same page with the rookie next week at home against the Indianapolis Colts.

Dalton Schultz Could Provide Value In Week 1

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz will make his team debut in Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens. After spending his first five years with the Dallas Cowboys, Schultz found a new home in Houston this offseason. The tight end will look to develop a strong connection with rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud right away in Week 1. Schultz does have a tough matchup against a Ravens defense that allowed the seventh-fewest catches to tight ends last season. But he could provide enough value to finish as a top-12 tight end in Week 1.

Dalton Schultz Sees Few Targets In Preseason Action

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz (ribs) corraled two receptions on three targets for 10 yards in Saturday's 28-3 preseason loss to the Miami Dolphins. Seeing Schultz back in action after dealing with a rib injury out of camp was a relief. The 27-year-old signed a one-year, $nine million contract with the Texans this offseason. With little competition for Houston's starting tight end role, he should continue to be a check-down safety valve in the passing game for his new team. The former Dallas Cowboy will look to build on this performance next week in the team's final preseason game against the New Orleans Saints. Schultz has an NFFC ADP of 118 and is considered a borderline TE1 heading into fantasy drafts.

Dalton Schultz Returns To Practice

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz (ribs) has returned to the practice field. The 27-year-old missed basically a week of practice after taking a shot to the ribs during practice. Despite that, he appears to be fine and ready to get back to work. Schultz is expected to be the primary tight end for Houston. The Texans don't have many reliable pass-catchers, which is likely to help Schultz in terms of fantasy value. At worst, Schultz should be able to provide low-end TE1 value this upcoming season.

Dalton Schultz Still Not Practicing

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz (ribs) remains out of training camp practice on Thursday. Brevin Jordan (hamstring) is also on the sidelines. Schultz took a hard shot to the ribs at practice on Sunday and hasn't been on the field since. The Texans don't think it's a serious injury, though, so the 27-year-old tight end shouldn't miss much more time. Teagan Quitoriano (undisclosed) also hasn't been practicing of late, so the Texans are thin at the position in camp. It's one of the reasons they signed veteran journeyman Nick Vannett on Wednesday. Schultz could see a decent target share in his first year in Houston given their lack of experienced pass-catchers, but fantasy managers shouldn't consider him much more than a low-end TE1 in an offense that isn't scaring anyone.

Dalton Schultz Sits Out Monday

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz (ribs) was unable to practice at training camp on Monday. "Yeah, Dalton [Schultz] took a shot to the side. He'll be alright. He's just managing that today. Day off, he'll be back out there soon," head coach DeMeco Ryans said. Schultz took a shot to his ribs in practice on Sunday, but it's not a serious injury and he should be back out there soon. The 27-year-old is in his first year with the Texans and is expected to be the primary pass-catching tight end, likely for first-round rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud for most, if not all, of the year. Many folks are expecting regression from Schultz in 2023 in a downgrade to Houston's offense with a rookie QB. At best, consider Schultz a low-end TE1.

Offseason In Review: Houston Texans

The Texans’ rebuild continues, and it now involves a third head coach in three years. Following in the footsteps of the 1970s and 2010s 49ers in seeing back-to-back one-and-done coaching tenures transpire, the Texans have been the league’s most anonymous on-field operation during the 2020s. GM Nick Caserio generated scrutiny as the losses piled up, but […]
