DJ Chark Jr. Removed From Final Injury Report

Carolina Panthers wide receiver DJ Chark Jr. (hamstring) will enter the Week 4 game on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings without an injury designation. Chark was rested on Wednesday, put in a limited practice on Thursday and was a full-go on Friday, so he will be active this weekend. The 27-year-old saw one target in his team debut in Week 2 but made an impact in the Week 3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks with Andy Dalton at quarterback, catching four of 11 targets for 86 yards and a touchdown. The return of rookie QB Bryce Young (ankle) this weekend doesn't exactly bode well for Chark's chances of producing another nice game through the air in Week 4.

DJ Chark Jr., Jonathan Mingo Limited Thursday

Carolina Panthers wide receivers DJ Chark Jr. (hamstring) and Jonathan Mingo (concussion) were both limited at practice on Thursday. Chark was rested on Wednesday before returning to a limited showing Thursday. The 27-year-old had a strong day in the Week 3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, catching four of his 11 targets for 86 yards and a touchdown, but it also came with backup quarterback Andy Dalton at the helm. Most of his damage is going to come deep down the field, and he'll be more unpredictable with rookie QB Bryce Young (ankle) returning this week against the Minnesota Vikings. Mingo is even more of a dice roll as a flex option in deeper leagues, and he still needs to clear the concussion protocol before getting the green light to play in Week 4.

Bryce Young Uncertain For Week 4

Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young (ankle) missed the team's Week 3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks with an ankle injury. According to head coach Frank Reich, his status for the Week 4 contest with the Minnesota Vikings is uncertain early in the week. The rookie struggled in Weeks 1 and 2, completing under 60% of his passes for 299 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. He is averaging a putrid 4.2 yards per attempt. That said, he is not on the fantasy radar in single-quarterback leagues, and his return to the lineup could be a downgrade from Andy Dalton for wideouts DJ Chark and Adam Thielen. Check back later in the week for further updates on Young's status.

DJ Chark Jr. Draws 11 Targets, Finds The End Zone In Week 3

Carolina Panthers wide receiver DJ Chark Jr. had a big afternoon in a 37-27 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Chark hauled in four of his 11 targets for 86 yards and a touchdown in the high-scoring loss in Week 3. In the second quarter, the veteran wideout spun out of a tackle attempt at the Seattle 15-yard line and raced to the end zone for his first touchdown of the season. Chark dealt with a hamstring injury late in the preseason and missed Week 1 but he appears to be rounding into form. He is on the map as a flex play in deeper leagues heading into a Week 4 matchup against a porous Minnesota Vikings secondary.

DJ Chark Jr. Active On Monday Night

Carolina Panthers wide receiver DJ Chark Jr. (hamstring), who was questionable to play on Monday night against the New Orleans Saints, is active and will make his debut for the Panthers. Chark has been dealing with a hamstring injury since late August and was forced to sit out of the team's Week 1 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Now that the 26-year-old is back, he'll give rookie first-round quarterback Bryce Young another receiving threat, mostly deep down the field. His return will be bad news for the fantasy ceilings of wideouts Adam Thielen and rookie Jonathan Mingo and tight end Hayden Hurst. The oft-injured Chark will most likely be a boom/bust WR4/5 in fantasy leagues this year in an offense that is expected to spread the ball around.

DJ Chark Jr. Limited Again Friday

Carolina Panthers wide receiver DJ Chark Jr. (hamstring) was listed as a limited practice participant for the second straight day on Friday. Chark was inactive for the Week 1 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, and his status remains up in the air for a Week 2 meeting with the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football. The 26-year-old appears to be making some progress with his injury this week, but he could be questionable and is much too risky to rely on in fantasy lineups, especially with Carolina's game not coming until Monday this week. Rookie quarterback Bryce Young is likely to continue to keep spreading the ball around on offense, making all of the rookie's pass-catchers pretty unreliable for fantasy purposes against a lockdown Saints defense in Week 2.

DJ Chark Jr. Eyes Panthers Debut In Week 2

Carolina Panthers wide receiver DJ Chark Jr. (hamstring) could make his season debut in Week 2 against the New Orleans Saints on Monday night. The 26-year-old missed the Panthers' final preseason game and last week's season opener against the Atlanta Falcons due to a strained hamstring suffered on Aug. 22. Chark was signed in the offseason to a one-year, $5 million contract and was expected to be a reliable target for rookie quarterback Bryce Young. Last week, Young threw the ball 38 times but completed only 20 of his passes. In Week 2, the Panthers face a Saints defense that held DeAndre Hopkins to 65 yards. Even if Chark does play on Monday night, he is probably best left on fantasy benches.

DJ Chark Jr. Ruled Out For Week 1

Carolina Panthers wide receiver DJ Chark Jr. (hamstring) returned to practice in a limited capacity on Friday after being sidelined the last two days. However, Chark has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Falcons. His absence should lead to significant volume for Adam Thielen (ankle), who is listed as questionable, Jonathan Mingo, Terrace Marshall Jr., and Laviska Shenault Jr.

DJ Chark Jr. Held Out Of Wednesday's Practice

Carolina Panthers wide receiver DJ Chark Jr. (hamstring) wasn't able to practice on Wednesday. Chark has been held out of action for the Panthers since Aug. 23 and is in danger of missing the regular season opener in Week 1 this Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. The 26-year-old is expected to be rookie first-round quarterback Bryce Young's primary deep threat in his first year in Carolina, but he's hard to rely on because of injury concerns and the fact that Young is expected to spread the ball around in his first NFL season. If Chark is unable to suit up this weekend, it will likely be Adam Thielen, rookie Jonathan Mingo and Terrace Marshall Jr. as Young's top-three aerial targets.

DJ Chark Jr. Optimistic About Week 1

Carolina Panthers wide receiver DJ Chark Jr. (hamstring) said his hamstring is feeling good and he's optimistic about his chances of playing in Week 1 of the regular season against the Atlanta Falcons. Chark missed the last two weeks of the preseason but was able to do some rehab work at practice on Tuesday. There's a chance that the 26-year-old may not be ready for the start of the 2023 regular season, which would open up more work for Adam Thielen, Terrace Marshall Jr. (back), rookie Jonathan Mingo and Laviska Shenault Jr. (concussion). Chark has had issues with injuries in his career, but when healthy, he could be a nice deep threat for rookie quarterback Bryce Young in 2023 in his first year in Carolina.

DJ Chark Jr. Should Be Big-Play Target

Carolina Panthers rookie first-round quarterback Bryce Young and wide receiver DJ Chark Jr. (hamstring) have connected down the field often in training camp this summer. Chark's size-speed combination made him a second-round pick in 2018 by the Jacksonville Jaguars, but he's been plagued by injuries outside of his Pro Bowl season in 2019. Although Chark is dealing with a hamstring injury right now, the Panthers are confident offseason surgery fixed a foot issue that has bothered him the last two years. If he can stay healthy in his first year in Carolina, he could emerge as a deep threat on a team lacking a true No. 1 pass-catcher. The 26-year-old is going to have to get healthy before the regular season, though, and prove it with some nice performances early in the year for most fantasy managers to want to consider plucking him off the waiver wire.

DJ Chark Jr. Dealing With Hamstring Injury

Carolina Panthers wide receiver DJ Chark Jr. (hamstring) is dealing with a hamstring injury at training camp, according to the team. Chark was unable to practice on Wednesday, and his availability for Week 1 of the regular season could be in question. The 26-year-old will almost certainly sit out Friday's preseason finale against the Detroit Lions. The Panthers are currently dealing with their share of receiver injuries, as Terrance Marshall Jr. (back) and Laviska Shenault Jr. (concussion) are also injured. Chark is an injury-prone, inconsistent deep threat in a new offense led by rookie quarterback Bryce Young, so he'll most likely go undrafted in standard 12-team leagues, especially if he's in danger of missing Week 1.

D.J. Chark Sees Two Targets In Preseason Loss

Carolina Panthers wide receiver D.J. Chark caught one of his two targets for 13 yards in a 21-19 preseason loss to the New York Giants on Friday. Chark started with the first team and wound up playing on two drives before taking the rest of the day off. The veteran wideout has now caught two passes for 18 yards through two preseason contests. It remains to be seen how good the Carolina offense is this season, setting Chark up as a WR5 in fantasy.

Terrace Marshall Jr. Tweaks His Back

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. (back) "tweaked a little something in his back" at training camp practice on Monday, according to head coach Frank Reich. Marshall had to be carted off the field, so this is certainly a situation worth watching this week at camp. The 23-year-old former second-round selection in 2021 improved in his sophomore season in 2022, hauling in 28 of his 47 targets for 490 yards and one touchdown in 14 games (nine starts). Marshall will be fighting for a bigger role in Year 3, but it won't be easy alongside Adam Thielen, DJ Chark and rookie Jonathan Mingo, as well as tight end Hayden Hurst. And with rookie quarterback Bryce Young leading the offense, there won't be a ton of upside for Marshall in fantasy.

D.J. Chark Catches One Ball In Preseason Opener

Carolina Panthers wide receiver D.J. Chark caught one of his two targets for a five-yard gain in a 27-0 preseason loss to the New York Jets on Saturday. Chark started at wide receiver alongside Adam Thielen and Jonathan Mingo in the contest. The Panthers appear set to open the regular season with this alignment as their starting three receivers when they go with 11 personnel. Chark had some big seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars several years ago but he has been more of a low-end flex play of late, making him more of a late-round flier in upcoming fantasy drafts.

Terrace Marshall Jr. On The Rise At Training Camp

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. has surged over the last four training camp practices, and head coach Frank Reich gave him a laundry list of praise when asked about his skill set after practice. Marshall has quietly had a pretty nice offseason heading into his third NFL campaign. The former second-rounder has a total of 45 catches on 77 targets for 628 yards and just one touchdown in his first two seasons over 27 games (12 starts). The 23-year-old could take another step forward in his third year while taking passes from first-round rookie Bryce Young. Marshall isn't going to be drafted in 12-team fantasy leagues, but he's one to keep an eye if he works his way into a starting role. He's mainly battling rookie Jonathan Mingo for the No. 3 job behind DJ Chark and Adam Thielen.

Bryce Young Building Chemistry With D.J. Chark

Carolina Panthers wide receiver D.J. Chark has reportedly been one of quarterback Bryce Young's favorite targets at training camp, specifically in the deep passing game. "(Chark has) earned the trust of Bryce," Wide receiver coach Shawn Jefferson said. "Any time Bryce sees him out there one-on-one, Bryce is gonna take a chance. He's earned that right from Bryce." Chark has struggled to stay healthy during his five-year career with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Detroit Lions, but he's never had a shortage of speed and deep ball ability. The 26-year-old ranked fifth in the league with 16.7 yards per reception last season. If Young quickly becomes an above-average deep ball passer, Chark could be fruitful fantasy football selection, especially in best ball formats.

Panthers Name Bryce Young The Starting QB

Carolina Panthers head coach Frank Reich made it clear on Wednesday that rookie quarterback Bryce Young is the team's starting QB early in training camp. The No. 1 overall pick in this year's NFL draft was going to be named the Week 1 starter sooner or later this summer, and the Panthers are making abundantly clear early in camp that the 22-year-old is their guy in 2023. Young has worked with the first-team offense since the start of organized team activities this spring, so this announcement shouldn't come as a total surprise. Veteran Andy Dalton will be the backup. Young will continue to build chemistry with his receivers in camp. While he has plenty of long-term upside, fantasy managers should expect the Alabama product to have his growing pains with a receiving corps that includes DJ Chark, Adam Thielen and Terrace Marshall Jr.

Latest On Terrace Marshall, Panthers' WR Room

The Panthers’ offense will look far different at the start of the 2023 season than it did at the conclusion of the previous campaign. Part of the reason for that is the changes made to the top of the team’s wide receiver depth chart. D.J. Moore was a critical part of the package Carolina sent […]
Jul 4 · Pro Football Rumors Panthers DJ Chark Terrace Marshall Jonathan Mingo Adam Thielen Bryce YoungTerrace Marshall Jr. Relishing

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. has had a slow start to his NFL career, catching just 44 of his 77 targets for 628 yards and one touchdown. Carolina's QB situation has been less than ideal, but the 2021 second-round pick's production is still disappointing. However, Marshall said he'll enter training camp with a clear mind and is he's ready for a fresh start with a new coaching staff. "I'd say one word to describe it is just clear -- clear-minded, just ready to take on what this year's going to bring," Marshall said. "Just taking it one day at a time, really. Just grinding it out with the team, getting work right with the scheme and QBs. I'm ready to go." Time will tell if the new staff will benefit Marshall, but the former LSU Tiger could be on the outside looking in on the Panthers' wide receiver depth chart. He'll compete with Adam Thielen, Jonathan Mingo, and DJ Chark to earn targets in 2023. For now, he's nothing more than a late-round dart throw in deep fantasy leagues.
