Christian Kirk A Shaky Flex Option At Texans

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Christian Kirk takes on the Houston Texans in a divisional Week 3 matchup. After logging one catch in Week 1, Kirk came back to lead the Jaguars in targets (14) against the Chiefs, hauling in 11 passes for 110 yards. However, Kirk still remains a shaky play, especially against the surprisingly decent pass defense of Houston. Predicting the Jags receivers' boom games might be one of the more difficult things to do in fantasy this year. Calvin Ridley remains a must-start, but Kirk fits into the boom-or-bust WR3 category, especially against a team that held him to three receptions for 32 yards over two games last season.

Christian Kirk Puts Up 11 catches, 110 Yards Against Chiefs

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Christian Kirk bounced back against the Chiefs with 11 catches for 110 yards. After a near-dud performance to begin the year, Kirk rewarded managers who stayed loyal to him, putting up 21.96 PPR points on the day. The ex-Cardinal was the only reliable option for the Jaguars offense the entire game, accounting for half of quarterback Trevor Lawrence's 22 completions. His 14 targets were also second-most across the entire league in Week 2. With all of the mouths to feed in Duval, these up-and-down performances could be the norm for some of the Jaguars offense pieces but this performance puts Kirk back on the WR3/flex option radar. He remains a high-risk, high-reward play.

Christian Kirk - Week 2 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Christian Kirk will look to improve on his nine-yard performance last week when the Chiefs visit this coming Sunday. It was a very disappointing opening day for Kirk, who ranked fifth on the team in targets with just one. Calvin Ridley seems to have fully usurped the former Cardinal as the top option in the passing game, but it appears that Zay Jones may have as well, making Kirk a shaky start. The Jaguars still invested quite heavily in him last offseason so he should still be an important piece of this offense. The Chiefs were just shredded out of the slot by Amon-Ra St. Brown in Week 1, meaning Kirk could have some opportunities to thrive in this one. There's risk involved, but the former second-round pick could reward fantasy managers who are willing to give him another shot in Week 2.

Christian Kirk Primed For Bigger Game In Week 2?

Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said wide receiver Christian Kirk's poor performance in the Week 1 win over the Indianapolis Colts -- one catch for nine yards -- was a byproduct of the Colts' zone defense. "Christian thrives against man defense... he'll get his chances [this weekend vs. #Chiefs]," Pederson said. In two games against the Chiefs last year, Kirk caught 16 passes for 157 yards and three touchdowns, but that was also without Calvin Ridley, who is now Jacksonville's No. 1 receiver. Fantasy managers should be able to expect more production this Sunday than what we saw in Week 1, but regression is expected overall for Kirk in 2023. Consider him a WR3/flex with some more upside this week in what could be a shootout.

Christian Kirk's Production Expected To Take A Dip

ESPN's Dan Graziano expects Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Christian Kirk's production in 2023 to take a dip, even if the offense as a whole improves. Calvin Ridley, who missed all of 2022 due to suspension, has been the talk of Jaguars camp this summer and is a legitimate No. 1 outside receiver who has quickly developed a rapport with quarterback Trevor Lawrence. With Ridley and Zay Jones on the outside, Kirk will likely be confined to the slot more than he was last year. Most of his routes, targets, catches and yards and 50% of his touchdowns came while working outside. The 26-year-old can still be a productive player from the slot, but it's unlikely he'll be anywhere close to the top-25 fantasy wideout he was in 2022. Don't reach for Kirk in fantasy drafts this weekend.

Christian Kirk Expects Big Things From Jaguars Offense

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Christian Kirk has the goal of helping the Jaguars finish as the No. 1 offense in the NFL. "I think it's challenging, but when you have the right guys in the locker room, a part of your team that are able to come out on a day-to-day basis and push another to hold each other to our standard, I think it's a little easier," he said. The Jaguars ranked No. 9 in scoring last season, a big improvement from their No. 32 finish in 2022. Their offensive boost was driven by a coaching change, improvements in quarterback Trevor Lawrence's play, and the acquisition of Kirk, who, in his first season in Jacksonville set career-highs in receptions, yards, and touchdowns, as he went over 1,100 yards. The Jaguars' prospects look even better in 2023 as receiver Calvin Ridley rejoins the team after serving a year-long suspension.

Offseason In Review: Jacksonville Jaguars

For the second time in franchise history, the Jaguars overcame a 2-6 start to make the playoffs. The last time the team did so (1996), a run of playoff appearances followed. This Jaguars nucleus has similar ingredients in place compared to the Mark Brunell-fronted teams of the late ’90s. At the center is Trevor Lawrence, […]
