Calvin Ridley Remains A Strong Play Against Houston

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Calvin Ridley looks to bounce back from his poor performance last week in a critical divisional matchup with the Houston Texans. After bursting onto the scene once again with a WR6 finish to begin the year, the 28-year-old wideout was held to just 32 yards on two catches (eight targets) last week, as the whole Jacksonville offense slowed. Based on volume alone, Ridley should enjoy a nice rebound here against the Texans, even if their obvious weakness is stopping the run. Ridley sits just outside the top-10 league-wide in targets through two weeks, suggesting a strong rapport with quarterback Trevor Lawrence. He will likely see a lot of underrated cornerback Steven Nelson this coming week, but it shouldn't be enough to scare anyone. Start Ridley if you have him and expect rock-solid WR2 numbers.

Calvin Ridley Records 32 Yards In Week 2 Loss To Chiefs

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Calvin Ridley came back to earth vs. Kansas City in Week 2, logging only two receptions for 32 yards. After exploding for 101 yards and a touchdown in his first game back in two years, Ridley was shooting up end-of-season rankings but those expectations may need to be tempered after this performance. The good news is that Ridley still drew eight targets, so quarterback Trevor Lawrence clearly wanted to get the ball to his star pass-catcher, but a 25% catch rate is atrocious. The entire Jags offense was very out of sync throughout the day, so fantasy managers shouldn't be worried about the long-term prospects of Ridley this season. He will be ranked as a top-15 receiver next week against the Texans.

Falcons Clinch 2024 Fourth-Round Pick In Calvin Ridley Trade

Last November, in the midst of wide receiver Calvin Ridley‘s year-long gambling suspension, the Falcons traded Ridley to the Jaguars in exchange for a two-pick package comprised of one 2023 and one 2024 selection. As Ridley was reinstated prior to this year’s draft, Atlanta received Jacksonville’s 2023 fifth-round choice, which it subsequently flipped to the […]
Sep 17 · Pro Football Rumors NFL Draft Falcons Jaguars Jeff Okudah Calvin RidleyCalvin Ridley - Week 2 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Calvin Ridley looks to build upon his dominant Week 1 performance this Sunday when the Kansas City Chiefs come to Duval. In his first game back in two years, Ridley put up eight catches on 11 targets for 101 yards and a touchdown. If Week 1 was any indication of how this season will play out, the former first-round pick will be the unquestioned No. 1 target for Lawrence, putting him on the fringe WR1 category with top-10 upside. Especially in this game where points will not be hard to come by, Ridley should be locked into lineups everywhere. There are a couple of wide receivers that have a good case for finishing this week as the top overall scorer, and Ridley is one of them.

Calvin Ridley May Get Off To Slow Start

The Athletic's Jeff Howe suggests that Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Calvin Ridley, who has played just five games in the last two years, could be slow out of the gates in his first year in Jacksonville. Ridley has an explosive gear that the team's other receivers don't have and he looks like a legitimate No. 1, even with Christian Kirk alongside him. But Howe writes that there's a big difference between August speed and September speed once the regular season starts. The 28-year-old will have to deal with the intricacies of getting off a jam, weaving through traffic and using the necessary footwork to counter defensive coverage shifts -- all things he couldn't replicate the last two years. Ridley is still the most attractive Jags pass-catcher in fantasy with WR2 upside, but Howe suggests that we might have to be patient.

Calvin Ridley Standing Out At Training Camp

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Calvin Ridley looks explosive and has another gear compared to the rest of the team's other talented receivers. It's reasonable to expect some type of adjustment to regular season game speed due to the fact that he hasn't played in nearly two years and is learning a new offense, but Ridley has integrated himself nicely with quarterback Trevor Lawrence. The Athletic's Jeff Howe thinks Ridley could return to being a true No. 1 pass-catcher in 2023. The 28-year-old former first-rounder will have clear WR2 upside in fantasy in an improving Jacksonville offense. There is plenty of competition for targets in Jacksonville, but when healthy, Ridley has the most talent of any pass-catcher on this team.

Calvin Ridley Logs 21 Yards In First NFL Action Since 2021

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Calvin Ridley hauled in both of his targets for 21 yards in the team's preseason opener against the Cowboys. It was the 28-year-old's first real game action in almost two years after being suspended last season for gambling. The sample size is minuscule, but Ridley showed great timing with quarterback Trevor Lawrence on both catches. In a game that saw 20 different Jaguars players draw a target, Ridley was hardly the focus of the offense. The former first-round pick still projects to be the top wideout in Jacksonville and has received rave reviews in camp. Hopefully, Ridley can produce more in the next couple of exhibition games to give fantasy managers more confidence in his fourth-round ADP.

Calvin Ridley's Toe Soreness Related To His Cleats

Updating from a previous report, Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Calvin Ridley's toe soreness was related to his cleats. After switching to different cleats, he felt much better and looked good at Wednesday's practice. That said, there should be nearly zero concern about his status moving forward. The 28-year-old continues to be a popular fantasy football darling for his first season with Trevor Lawrence in Doug Pederson's offense.

Calvin Ridley To Be Limited With Toe Injury

Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said wide receiver Calvin Ridley (toe) is reportedly dealing with a minor toe injury and will be limited in practice moving forward. For now, this is not a cause for concern, but it's certainly worth monitoring as training camp rolls along. The 28-year-old wideout has been impressive so far in the Jaguars' offense and will compete with Christian Kirk to be the team's No. 1 option in the passing game in 2023. He has WR1 upside if he can return to his 2020 form when he racked up over 1,300 receiving yards.

Calvin Ridley Limited During Practice Tuesday

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Calvin Ridley was absent from portions of Tuesday's practice. At one point, Ridley was spotted walking off the field with general manager Trent Baalke. He took time to cool down and eventually returned for the end of practice but did not participate. It's unclear if Ridley was dealing with some sort of injury or illness, and if he was, hopefully the Jaguars were simply exercising extreme caution by holding him out. The ex-Falcons wide receiver projects as Jacksonville's top pass-catching option and enters 2023 as a strong WR2 option in fantasy football.

Calvin Ridley Looking Explosive At Training Camp

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Calvin Ridley was arguably the most explosive player on the entire field during the first week of camp and made several noteworthy practices, according to John Shipley of Jaguar Report (FanNation). Apparently, Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson agrees. "Just the way he practices is just a different speed and a different level," Pederson said. "It's encouraging to me as a coach because it feeds to the rest of the guys, particularly the young guys. He's one that's really stood out there." It seems as if Ridley isn't dealing with rust after almost two years away from football and the 28-year-old former Falcon is as advertised so far in camp. Ridley will compete to be Trevor Lawrence's No. 1 wide receiver in 2023, which could yield a top-12 finish in fantasy football.

Calvin Ridley Chose Jaguars Over Multiple Teams

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Calvin Ridley said the Atlanta Falcons gave him a list of six or seven teams that made acceptable offers for his services at last year's trade deadline. "I think it's a perfect spot for me," Ridley said. "I had an opportunity to choose from a bunch of different teams, and that's why I chose this one. It felt like home and I liked the roster a lot." Ridley said he's focused on getting his "name and reputation" back in 2023 after missing nearly two full seasons of action. The former 1,300-yard receiver has plenty of upside with quarterback Trevor Lawrence at the helm for Jacksonville, but it could take time for him to knock off the rust from an extended absence from the field.

Offseason In Review: Jacksonville Jaguars

For the second time in franchise history, the Jaguars overcame a 2-6 start to make the playoffs. The last time the team did so (1996), a run of playoff appearances followed. This Jaguars nucleus has similar ingredients in place compared to the Mark Brunell-fronted teams of the late ’90s. At the center is Trevor Lawrence, […]
