Mitch Trubisky To Start Second Preseason Game
Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin announced on Thursday that quarterback Mitch Trubisky will start the team's second preseason game on Saturday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. In his first preseason action last week against the Seattle Seahawks, Trubisky completed four of his seven attempts for 63 yards and a touchdown, and he'll continue to work with the first-team offense this weekend. Barring something unforeseen, the 27-year-old is fully expected to open Week 1 as the starter, but how long he remains in the role is the most interesting part as the season unfolds. If Trubisky falters early on, the Steelers could easily turn to Mason Rudolph or rookie first-rounder Kenny Pickett.

Mitch Trubisky Tosses TD Saturday
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mitch Trubisky completed four of seven passes for 63 yards and a touchdown in his team's Saturday preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks. Trubisky connected with wideout Gunner Olszewski for a 13-yard score in the first quarter while adding a four-yard run. He played on Pittsburgh's first two offensive drives before taking a seat for the rest of the evening. Trubisky has the inside track on the starting quarterback job in Pittsburgh, although his grip on the job isn't going to be very firm with first-round pick Kenny Pickett waiting in the wings. Fantasy gamers should treat Trubisky as a high-end QB3 in fantasy drafts for the upcoming season.

Kenny Pickett Could Start In First Half Of Season
Pittsburgh Steelers rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett could replace the starting quarterback (most likely Mitchell Trubisky, but possibly Mason Rudolph) in the first half of the season, according to Mark Kaboly of The Athletic. Kaboly identified Week 4 against the Jets as a good target date for Pickett's debut since the Steelers will have extra practice coming off the Thursday night game and the Jets aren't an entirely scary opponent. He also sees Week 10 as a natural possibility since the Steelers have a Week 9 bye. "Pickett will eventually get his chance," Kaboly writes. "Over the past decade, first-round quarterbacks have almost always started a game during their rookie years." Pickett can be left on waivers in most redraft leagues for now, though he has significant appeal in dynasty formats.

Mitch Trubisky Will Start Saturday's Preseason Opener
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mitch Trubisky will start Saturday's preseason opener against the Seattle Seahawks, according to head coach Mike Tomlin. Although Trubisky hasn't really impressed all that much to this point in training camp practices, he remains the favorite to open the regular season as the starter under center for Pittsburgh. Mason Rudolph and rookie first-rounder Kenny Pickett will follow Trubisky in the first preseason game this weekend. The 27-year-old Trubisky will likely play only the first quarter against Seattle. While he'll open the year as the Week 1 starter, what happens after that remains to be seen, and he's unlikely to have a very long leash if he's not playing well early on.

Mitch Trubisky Has Inside Track On Starting Job
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mitch Trubisky is believed to have the inside track to win the starting job in training camp over Mason Rudolph and rookie first-rounder Kenny Pickett. This was the expectation going into training camp, and it's still the case despite the fact that Trubisky hasn't exactly looked great in practices so far. It's still technically an open competition and the Steelers haven't officially named Trubisky the starter, but that's the way that things appear to be headed. He's taken almost all of the first-team repetitions When Week 1 rolls around, it will almost certainly be Trubisky under center for Pittsburgh. But he won't have a long leash if he struggles, and he'll be a low-end QB2 in fantasy football.

Mitch Trubisky Hasn't Looked Sharp
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mitch Trubisky hasn't looked very sharp so far in training camp practices. He came into Tuesday's practice having missed on 12 consecutive repetitions in the team's Seven Shots drill. Trubisky wasn't able to convert in four reps, extending his skid to 16 straight non-scoring plays in the drill. For the duration of training camp, he's gone 3-for-20. It hasn't all been his fault, but he's off to a rough start. The 27-year-old continues to get the first-team reps over Mason Rudolph and first-round rookie Kenny Pickett, and this is still Trubisky's job to lose heading into Week 1. Pickett has been hindered by his lack of patience. He's a one-read-and-go QB right now. If Trubisky continues to struggle, there's a real chance that Rudolph could pass him up and earn the starting job to open the season.

Steelers Quarterback Job Is Mitch Trubisky's To Lose
The Steelers quarterback battle between Mitch Trubisky and Kenny Pickett seems all but over at this point. Peter King from NBC Sports reported that head coach Mike Tomlin called the job "Mitch's to lose. " While it has been trending in this direction, it seems locked in that Trubisky will begin the season as their starter, especially since Pickett was actually running with the third-team offense behind Mason Rudolph. What's intriguing about Trubisky for fantasy is his rushing upside, as he produced 190+ rushing yards in all four seasons that he started 10 games or more, with a career high of 421 yards in 2018. While he'll be unable to compete with the top players at the position, he will remain a viable option as your second quarterback in superflex or two-quarterback leagues.

Mitch Trubisky To Get First Crack At Starting Job
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mitch Trubisky is a great system fit for offensive coordinator Matt Canada's offense, and he is leading the team's QB competition this summer. Trubisky was expected to get the first crack at the starting job to replace the retired Ben Roethlisberger in 2022, so this shouldn't come as a huge surprise, even after the Steelers drafted Kenny Pickett in the first round this year. The 27-year-old Trubisky, a former first-rounder himself, hasn't started a game since his final season with the Chicago Bears in 2020, and he'll have a short leash in Pittsburgh with Pickett and Mason Rudolph lurking. Heading into this season, Trubisky will be a low-end QB2 in fantasy if he wins the starting job.

Mitchell Trubisky The Steelers' Clear No. 1 QB
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mitchell Trubisky is the clear No. 1 QB ahead of Mason Rudolph and rookie Kenny Pickett with mandatory minicamp opening this week. There will be added competition for the starting gig in training camp next month, but as of right now, Trubisky is No. 1, Rudolph is No. 2 and Pickett is No. 3. Trubisky, a former first-round pick by the Chicago Bears, has the inside track to be the Steelers starter in Week 1. But even if he ultimately wins the job, he's likely to be on a short leash throughout the season as the team looks to replace Ben Roethlisberger, who retired last year. If you're searching for a QB2 in deeper leagues right now, Trubisky would be your guy from Pittsburgh.

Mitchell Trubisky Getting First-Team Reps In OTAs
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mitchell Trubisky has been taking first-team reps in OTAs ahead of veteran Mason Rudolph and No. 20 overall pick Kenny Pickett. This isn't terribly surprising, considering Pickett is a rookie and Rudolph is an even bigger longshot to win the job, but it is still worth noting as Pittsburgh has one of the few uncertain starting quarterback roles heading into the season. The 27-year-old Trubisky was signed to a two-year contract worth $14 million, and for the time being appears to have the inside track to the job. However, with the combination of a relatively low financial commitment to Trubisky and the first-round draft capital spent on Pickett, the Steelers could have a short leash on making a switch. It would be surprising if Pickett started Week 1, but even if Trubisky wins the job as expected, his handle on the role could be highly dependent on the team's record after the first few games of the season.
