Fantasy Advice
Mixon sure doesn't have the explosiveness any more that we look for in a top back, but he's locked into a high volume role in a top offense. A safe and solid choice. Not sure there is a handcuff now Samaje Perine is gone. I would lean to the rookie Chase Brown.

Joe Mixon Hard To Trust In Week 3

Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon will continue his quest for his first touchdown of the 2023-24 campaign on Monday night against the Rams. The 27-year-old has hardly impressed anyone this season, totaling only 115 rushing yards off 26 touches for 4.4 YPC. He's also caught seven of his 10 targets for 53 yards. At this rate, some fantasy managers have already run out of patience, so you can't blame them for benching him in Week 3. However, there's no denying the talent level possessed by the former Oklahoma Sooner, considering he has a Pro Bowl appearance on his resume, keeping him at least a flex candidate in all fantasy setups. This won't change even if Joe Burrow (calf) doesn't play.

Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon ran for 56 yards off 13 carries in the Week 1 loss to the Browns. He added three catches for 17 yards. While it wasn't a terrible performance from the former Oklahoma Sooner, fantasy managers were hoping for more. Unfortunately, that may not come in Week 2, as he has averaged just 55 rushing yards in 11 career meetings with the Ravens. That said, Mixon remains a starting option in all formats. However, nobody would argue with anyone who keeps him out of the starting lineup, especially until he gets his act together.

Joe Mixon Struggles In Loss To Cleveland

Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon had 13 carries for 56 yards against the Browns during the regular season opener on Sunday. He added three carries for 17 yards. The former Oklahoma Sooner is coming off a down season, so his performance in Week 1 isn't a shock to fantasy managers. Mixon took a pay cut in the offseason to stay in Cincinnati. That said, if he doesn't get his act together, he may lose touches to Chris Evans, Chase Brown, or Trayveon Williams throughout the 2023-24 campaign. Even worse, it could mean the end to his career as a Bengal after this year. But for now, the 27-year-old remains a must-start fantasy option in all formats.

Joe Mixon Hoping To Turn Things Around In Week 1

Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon is coming off a subpar 2022-23 campaign. The former Oklahoma Sooner ran for 1,205 yards and totaled 16 touchdowns in 2021. However, he regressed statistically last season, gaining only 814 rushing yards while finding the end zone nine times. Mixon took a pay cut during the offseason to remain in Cincinnati, so he should have plenty of motivation to be at his best. Although many are down on the 27-year-old, he could easily resurrect his career behind a revamped offensive line, beginning in Week 1 versus the Browns.

Not Much Certainty In Cincinnati Behind Joe Mixon

Cincinnati Bengals running back Chris Evans looked to have won the third-down role in training camp, but head coach Zac Taylor said last week he was still competing with Trayveon Williams, who has returned from an ankle injury. It's a valuable spot on the roster behind starter Joe Mixon, but The Athletic's Paul Dehner Jr. thinks it's a spot that could change during the season, and there's not much certainty beyond Evans' encouraging camp. Rookie Chase Brown is intriguing with his development in the passing game, but he'll likely be a non-factor on passing downs, barring an injury. Dehner expects Mixon to hold down the majority of touches on early downs in 2023 unless he struggles early on. Evans is your best bet as a handcuff to Mixon, but that could change some point this year.

Offseason In Review: Cincinnati Bengals

Following their run to the Super Bowl in 2021, it came as no surprise that the Bengals were once again a force in the AFC last year. A last-minute loss to the Chiefs in the conference title game ended their season but confirmed Cincinnati's status as one of the league's heavyweights. This offseason saw the […]

Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown ran for 39 yards off 11 carries during the loss to the Washington Commanders on Saturday night. He added two catches for negative yardage. Chris Evans (undisclosed), who didn't suit up for this one, is rumored to see third-down work this season. However, it appears Brown should at least hold a spot on the depth chart heading into the Week 1 opener versus the Cleveland Browns. That said, unless Joe Mixon or Evans suffers an injury during the 2023-24 campaign, Brown won't see much action, although he's worth a stash in dynasty formats.

Joe Mixon Doesn't Make The Trip To Atlanta

Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon didn't make the trip with the team to Atlanta for the second preseason game against the Falcons on Friday night after attending to personal matters in Cincinnati. Trayveon Williams (ankle) will also miss another game, leaving Chris Evans and rookie Chase Brown to get the bulk of the carries on Friday. Cincy's starters may not play at all this preseason with quarterback Joe Burrow (calf) still hurt. The 27-year-old Mixon isn't an explosive ball-carrier, but he's seen more frequent pass-game targets the last two years and should still get enough volume to make him a low-end RB1/high-end RB2 in fantasy in one of the best offenses in football.

Bengals' Joe Mixon Found Not Guilty On Aggravated Menacing Charge

The Bengals retained Joe Mixon this offseason, despite a run of uncertainty regarding his status with the team. The seventh-year running back also received some good news on the legal front Thursday. Aug 17 · Pro Football Rumors Bengals Joe MixonJoe Mixon Found Not Guilty

Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon was found not guilty of aggravated menacing after a bench trial started before Hamilton County judge Gwen Bender on Monday. Prosecutors said Mixon cut off another drive in traffic and pointed a gun at her. He was first charged with aggravated menacing in February and a warrant was issued, but the charges were immediately dropped so that police could investigate further. Mixon was recharged in April with the same misdemeanor. It remains to be seen if the NFL decides to punish the 27-year-old in 2023, but it seems unlikely. As long as he isn't facing any sort of suspension this year, Mixon should be considered a low-end RB1/high-end RB2 in fantasy drafts this fall.

Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon (undisclosed) appeared to have tweaked something while running a route during practice. He slowly walked off the field, but wasn't attended to by any trainers. The 27-year-old stood on the sideline for some time with his teammates. After that, Mixon returned and scored on a red zone play. It's uncertain what happened to Mixon, but fantasy managers shouldn't need to be concerned going forward.

Jul 15 · Pro Football Rumors Bengals Joe MixonDetails On Joe Mixon's Pay Cut

Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon took a $4.39 million pay cut this year and a $4.67 million pay cut next year. His 2023 base salary is $5.51 million, and he can make an extra $2 million per year in incentives. The pay cuts open up the possibility that Mixon will also stick around for the 2024 season. The 26-year-old was due $10.1 million this year with a $12.791 million salary cap number. There were questions as to whether Mixon would even be playing with the Bengals in 2023, but this now keeps him as the clear starter in an explosive offense, which is obviously good news for his fantasy value. He's not particularly explosive, but the volume should once again be there in an offense that will score plenty of touchdowns. Consider Mixon a high-end RB2 in fantasy drafts.

Jul 15 · Pro Football Rumors Bengals Joe MixonJoe Mixon Agrees To Pay Cut

Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon agreed to a pay cut on Friday. He'll now make a base salary of nearly $6 million, although he has the potential to earn up to $8 million through incentives. The former Sooner is coming off a down year, rushing for 814 yards off 210 carries for a hideous 3.9 YPC. He also had 60 catches for 441 yards while totaling nine touchdowns, seven fewer than he had the year before. Mixon still has a chance to get back on track, considering the Bengals upgraded the offensive line this offseason. But with Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Tyler Boyd all looking for Joe Burrow's attention, Mixon probably won't be a featured option in 2023-24, at least not consistently. The 26-year-old was due to earn around $9 million (non-guaranteed). However, the team requested he take a pay cut, or he could have been given his walking papers

Jul 12 · ESPN Bengals Joe MixonBengals Want To Resolve Joe Mixon's Contract Situation Sooner Than Later

The restructure/cut deadline for Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon technically would be the Tuesday before the regular season opener when veteran contracts lock in for the year. But the Bengals certainly don't want to wait that long. Whether on cutdown day on Aug. 29 or before training camp starts on July 26, all sides would prefer a resolution sooner than later. Mixon is going to need to agree on a pay cut to stay with the team, but it's unclear how much he'll have to lose to stick around. The 26-year-old carries a $12.8 million salary cap hit this year. If Mixon is cut, the Bengals would most likely be using Trayveon Williams and fifth-round rookie Chase Brown as their primary backs in 2023. They also have Chris Evans in the fold.
