  • Isaiah McKenzie Continues To Stand Out

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie has been one of the standouts of the team's training camp to this point. He's been with the team since 2018 and has slowly worked himself into more significant roles over the years. "Job's up for grabs," McKenzie said of the slot receiver role. "Jamison Crowder came in, and he's had a great career. He came in to compete with me, and I came back to compete with him. I know it wasn't going to be easy, and I know it's not easy now." McKenzie has done everything he can to lead the competition with Crowder missing five of the first eight practices. The 27-year-old has a good chance to be one of quarterback Josh Allen's trusted aerial targets, although he may not actually be worth a draft pick in fantasy until it's official that he's won the job over Crowder.

  • Isaiah McKenzie Has Taken A Step Forward

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie seems to have taken a step forward, and he has a big opportunity this year with veteran slot man Cole Beasley now gone. McKenzie is contending with Jamison Crowder for the starting slot job, and he has continued his improvement early in training camp. With Crowder out the last three practices with "general soreness," it has allowed McKenzie to maximize his repetitions with quarterback Josh Allen. McKenzie's route-running has taken a step up, as has his savvy to find soft spots in the defense. The 27-year-old has plenty of speed to spare, but his deceptiveness could allow him to take the next step. He'll need to continue to stand out when the pads go on this weekend, but if Crowder keeps missing practice and McKenzie keeps playing well, McKenzie could win the slot job rather quickly.

  • Isaiah McKenzie Getting First-Team Reps

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie opened Bills training camp by getting "virtually all the first-team reps" as the team's slot receiver, according to Greg Tompsett. McKenzie will be battling with Jamison Crowder for slot duties, but it seems like a good sign the 27-year-old is getting the first crack in training camp. McKenzie saw just 26 targets during the 2021 season, which turned into 20 receptions for 178 yards and one touchdown while adding nine carries for 47 yards and a score. Even if he does earn the role of starting slot wide receiver heading into Week 1, the speedster will be competing with Stefon Diggs, Gabriel Davis, and Dawson Knox for targets. Still, Crowder has shown he can be a capable slot receiver so he shouldn't be ignored just yet. As of now, McKenzie is a late-round dart throw in fantasy drafts.

  • Isaiah McKenzie Expected To Be A Specialist

WGRZ's Vic Carucci is predicting that Buffalo Bills veteran wide receiver Jamison Crowder will win the starting slot receiver role in training camp. Crowder is relatively small with a limited catch radius, but he makes up for it with short-area quickness/explosiveness. He also has enough speed to gain plenty of yards after the catch. Isaiah McKenzie and Tavon Austin will compete in the slot with Crowder. McKenzie has exceptional speed and elusiveness, but Carucci seems him continuing to have more of a specialty role in the offense. The 27-year-old had just 20 receptions for 178 yards and one touchdown in 15 regular season games in his third full season with Buffalo in 2021. He could become an intriguing waiver-wire pickup during the season if Crowder suffers an injury that allows McKenzie to become a starter in the slot.

  • Isaiah McKenzie, Jamison Crowder To Compete In The Slot

Buffalo Bills wide receivers Isaiah McKenzie and Jamison Crowder will compete for the starting slot role in training camp this summer now that Cole Beasley is no longer around. McKenzie has been with the Bills, but with a new offensive coordinator in Ken Dorsey, he might need to earn his way onto the field. He has more explosive athleticism than Crowder and is very quick in his cuts. Crowder probably won't break any big plays, but he's as technically sound a slot receiver as there is. He's been a target magnet in his career at times because of his ability to find soft spots in zone defenses. Given McKenzie's two-year deal, the Bills are likely hoping he can take the job and run with it, but Crowder should still have a role regardless. Rookie fifth-rounder Khalil Shakir is unlikely to become a legitimate receiving asset unless injuries open up an opportunity.

  • Latest On Bills' WR Competition

The Bills are in line to once again have one of the league’s most prolific passing attacks in the NFL in 2022. • Isaiah McKenzie Could Become Primary Slot Weapon

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie was quarterback Josh Allen's favorite weapon at mandatory minicamp practice on Wednesday. Allen targeted McKenzie on four of his 12 pass attempts, connecting on three, all short passes that the defense was allowing. McKenzie looked quick and shifty all day and was one of only three receivers that Allen targeted during team drills -- the other two being Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis. With Cole Beasley gone, McKenzie is one of two legitimate options in the slot right now, and he's taken advantage of his opportunities so far this offseason. The 27-year-old is a real contender to be the primary slot receiver this season, so he'll be one to watch during training camp.

  • Isaiah McKenzie's Speed Stands Out

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie showed excellent speed in and out of his breaks during organized team activities on Tuesday. He was precise with his route-running, and his quickness stood out from the rest of the receivers. That type of speed and deceptiveness will make him a nuisance against one-on-one defending. Meanwhile, second-year pass-catcher Marquez Stevenson struggled with dropped passes, just like he did last week. He has time to turn it around before the regular season starts, but it could become a problem if it continues. Stevenson's best path to winning a 53-man roster spot is by winning the kickoff and punt-return jobs. McKenzie will find it tough to produce consistently behind the likes of Stefon Diggs, Gabriel Davis and Jamison Crowder.
