Fantasy Advice

Cooper Kupp is the WR PPR king the last two seasons, when he plays. Although last season's first half likely wasn't sustainable because it was Kupp and next to nothing in the Rams offense. Matthew Stafford missed Week 10. That was Kupp's last week due to a high ankle sprain that required surgery. Can the cap-strapped and draft pick-strapped Rams piece together a competitive offering this season? Possible, but depth is very thin. Upside pick with risk.

  • Puka Nacua Draws An Absurd 20 Targets In Loss

    Headshot for Cooper Kupp

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua (oblique) dominated once again in the team's Week 2 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Despite being listed on the injury report and entering this game as questionable, Nacua looked more than healthy and broke records. The 5th-round rookie caught 15 of his 20 targets for 147 yards, giving Nacua 25 catches through his first two career games, an NFL record. He also had two carries, which resulted in four yards. The 22-year-old has proven to be Matthew Stafford's primary target with Cooper Kupp out, as he finished with over 30 PPR points this week. Nacua should be locked into your starting lineup each week with Kupp out and is a low-end WR1 in full-PPR leagues.

  • Puka Nacua Officially Active Sunday

    Headshot for Cooper Kupp

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua (oblique) is officially active for Week 2 versus the San Francisco 49ers. He had been listed as questionable after practicing in a limited capacity on Friday. Nacua was arguably the biggest breakout player of Week 1, hauling in 10 of 15 targets for 119 yards. We don't know what type of volume the rookie will have this Sunday, but it's fair to assume he will remain very involved with Cooper Kupp (hamstring) still on IR. Fantasy managers shall view Nacua as a WR3/FLEX play this weekend.

  • Rams 'Hopeful' That Cooper Kupp Returns In Week 5

    Headshot for Cooper Kupp

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp (hamstring) was unable to avoid the IR with his hamstring issue before the season started. According to Sarah Barshop of ESPN, head coach Sean McVay was reluctant to give a timeline and said that the Rams are "hopeful" that the star receiver can return by Week 5 as they previously planned. They knew that he would have to miss their first four games once they made the decision to move him to the IR, but his return in Week 5 isn't set in stone right now. Fantasy managers will want to stay tuned for more updates as the tentative return date approaches.

  • Cooper Kupp Unable To Avoid Injured List

    Headshot for Cooper Kupp

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp (hamstring) landed on the injured reserve list on Saturday. The wideout has been battling a hamstring issue of late, so many have anticipated this for at least the last few days. Most fantasy drafts have taken place by now, with Kupp routinely taken in the first round in the majority of them. But fantasy managers shouldn't sell low on the All-Pro, especially since it's only the first week of the NFL season. Kupp could return after four games, barring any setbacks. For now, Cam Akers might see more touches. At the same time, Tyler Higbee, Tutu Atwell, and Van Jefferson might see more attention from Matthew Stafford.

  • Cooper Kupp IR Stint Is "Definite Possibility"

    Headshot for Cooper Kupp

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp (hamstring) could be placed on injured reserve this Saturday. When asked about Kupp potentially requiring an IR stint, head coach Sean McVay said, "I would say there is a definite possibility." We should find out by 4 p.m. ET on Saturday whether the Rams make this move. If placed on IR, Kupp would not be eligible to return until Week 5 at the earliest. Van Jefferson, Tutu Atwell, and Puka Nacua are expected to lead the receiver corps in his absence.

  • Cooper Kupp Ruled Out For Week 1, Could Go On IR

    Headshot for Cooper Kupp

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay has ruled out wide receiver Cooper Kupp (hamstring) from the team's regular season opener in Week 1 against the Los Angeles Rams, and McVay isn't ruling out placing Kupp on Injured Reserve, which would keep him out for at least the first four games. Those that took Kupp in the first round of their drafts are probably regretting that decision right about now. When healthy, he'll be quarterback Matthew Stafford's go-to option, but when that might be is anyone's guess. In the meantime, Van Jefferson should operate as the team's No. 1 wideout, with Tutu Atwell and rookie Puka Nacua also seeing expanded roles. Tight end Tyler Higbee's stock is on the rise as well as long as Kupp is sidelined.

  • Cooper Kupp Meets With Specialist

    Headshot for Cooper Kupp

Los Angeles Rams star wide receiver Cooper Kupp (hamstring) went to Minnesota on Saturday to meet with a noted body specialist to further understand his hamstring injury, according to sources. With two hamstring pulls in one summer, the hope is for Kupp to fully comprehend the root of the issue. Head coach Sean McVay has described Kupp as "day-to-day," but the reality is that he'll likely miss Week 1 of the regular season against the Seattle Seahawks. How much time the 30-year-old ultimately misses to begin the 2023 regular season is unknown, but his injury setback now makes him a player to avoid in the first round of drafts before next Thursday's first game. Van Jefferson would become the Rams' No. 1 wideout if Kupp misses any time, with Tutu Atwell and Puka Nacua also getting more opportunities.

  • Cooper Kupp Unlikely To Play Week 1

    Headshot for Cooper Kupp

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp (hamstring) could be held out of action Week 1. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, "exercising caution for Week 1 is the likely outcome." The Rams could be hesitant to put him on the field if he's not 100 percent, especially since they need him healthy for the full 17-game stretch. In the event that Kupp does miss the opener versus Seattle, Van Jefferson would operate as the No. 1 wide receiver while Cam Akers and Tyler Higbee would also earn plenty of opportunities.

  • Van Jefferson Next Up After Cooper Kupp

    Headshot for Cooper Kupp

If Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp (hamstring) isn't ready for the start of the 2023 regular season after suffering a setback with his hamstring injury, Van Jefferson would step into the No. 1 receiving role, with Tutu Atwell and Puka Nacua becoming the second and third receivers, respectively. Ben Skowronek would also have a bigger role on offense. Jefferson only played in 11 games (nine starts) in 2022 after recovering from an ACL injury and finished with 24 catches for 369 yards and three touchdowns. He operated as the No. 1 wideout for the Rams after Kupp's season-ending ankle injury. The 27-year-old is merely a late-round flier in fantasy drafts before the start of the season, but he could be a worthwhile Week 1 lineup option if Kupp is unable to suit up against the Seattle Seahawks.

  • Cooper Kupp Day-To-Day After Suffering Setback

    Headshot for Cooper Kupp

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp (hamstring) suffered a "setback" with his hamstring injury and will be day-to-day, according to head coach Sean McVay. Kupp said just last week that he was on track to be ready for Week 1 of the regular season against the Seattle Seahawks, but that may change now. The 30-year-old All-Pro wideout tweaked his hammy back on Aug. 1 but had since returned to practice. Expect the Rams to be extra cautious with their best offensive weapon, which could mean holding him out to kick off the regular season. Kupp is still a top-10 fantasy selection in the first round of drafts, especially PPR setups, but this setback will make fantasy managers think twice.

  • Cooper Kupp On Track To Play In Week 1

    Headshot for Cooper Kupp

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp (hamstring) missed a few weeks of training camp practice with a hamstring injury but returned to the field this week and is reportedly progressing well. Kupp missed eight games last season after suffering a high-ankle sprain so the new injury was concerning. However, the 30-year-old wideout said he's on track to face Seattle in Week 1. Kupp was on pace to finish as the fantasy WR1 for the second-straight year before being knocked out of the lineup last season, so he is expected to contend for a top-five finish once again in 2023. Despite the injury risk, he should see a massive target share with a weak group of pass-catchers behind him.

  • Cooper Kupp Practices Again Wednesday

    Headshot for Cooper Kupp

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp (hamstring) had a great day overall in a joint training camp practice with the Denver Broncos on Wednesday. Kupp is still one of the very best in the league and lined up everywhere and caught a bunch of passes. As expected, Kupp returned to practice this week for the first time since injuring his hamstring in camp on Aug. 1. The 30-year-old still hasn't been cleared for full activities, but barring a setback, he should be good to go for Week 1 of the regular season against the division-rival Seattle Seahawks. Fantasy managers might be a bit more hesitant early in drafts to pull the trigger on Kupp as their WR1 after his season-ending ankle injury in 2022, but he remains a top-five fantasy receiver as a target hog in a Rams offense that doesn't have many established names behind him.

  • Cooper Kupp Returns To Practice On Monday

    Headshot for Cooper Kupp

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp (hamstring) returned to practice on Monday after missing multiple weeks dealing with a hamstring injury. He also was a full and active participant throughout the day. Even more encouraging news is the fact that he made one of the plays of the day while stretching out to make a catch while dragging his toes to stay in bounds. The All-Pro receiver firing on all cylinders is a great sight for the Rams and fantasy managers alike. As the clear-cut number-one pass-catcher on the team, Kupp is in line for another big season as long as the quarterback play is steady.

  • Cooper Kupp Expected To Practice Next Week

    Headshot for Cooper Kupp

According to USA Today's Cameron DaSilva, Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp (hamstring) is expected to practice next week during joint sessions with the Denver Broncos. The 30-year-old has been out since the beginning of August while nursing a hamstring ailment, so the update is certainly positive news. Kupp, who underwent ankle surgery during the offseason, finished last season with 812 yards and six touchdowns off 75 catches before his year ended prematurely due to injury. However, despite the Rams' declining offense, Kupp is expected to be a top-five wideout in 2023-24, assuming he stays healthy.

  • Cooper Kupp Unlikely To Practice This Week

    Headshot for Cooper Kupp

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp (hamstring) is unlikely to participate in joint practices this week, according to head coach Sean McVay. The team was hopeful to get Kupp back for joint practices with the Las Vegas Raiders this week. However, it sounds like next week is a better timetable for Kupp's return to the field. The 30-year-old continues to deal with a lingering hamstring issue, so the team isn't going to push anything. The expectation is that Kupp is going to be fine by the time the regular season rolls around.

  • Cooper Kupp Puts In A Workout At Camp

    Headshot for Cooper Kupp

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp (hamstring) got in a workout with the strength and conditioning staff during the first part of training camp practice on Tuesday. Kupp hasn't been able to get back to practice yet after suffering a hamstring injury on Aug. 1, but he's at least getting some activity in as he looks to get back on the field sooner than later. The Rams are hoping to get the 30-year-old All-Pro back by some point next week. Barring a setback, Kupp should be ready in plenty of time for Week 1 of the regular season, where he'll be looking to bounce back after an ankle injury ended his season early in 2022. Kupp is a still a top-five receiver in fantasy, but his stock has fallen slightly given his injuries and the Rams' declining offense.

  • Cooper Kupp Considered Day-To-Day

    Headshot for Cooper Kupp

Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur considers wide receiver Cooper Kupp (hamstring) as day-to-day after he tweaked his hamstring in training camp practice this week. "He'll be back in the right time and stuff like that. So he is just going through the rehab process, but he's day-to-day. He'll be alright," LaFleur said. The 30-year-old could miss up to several weeks as they play it safe with their No. 1 receiver by a wide margin, especially since his 2022 campaign ended prematurely do to an ankle injury. Kupp will still be a target hog worthy of a top-five pick at wideout in fantasy drafts with quarterback Matthew Stafford locking in on him, but this injury is another reminder that Kupp has become a bit more volatile with an early round selection. We will continue to keep a close eye on his status throughout camp and the preseason.

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp (hamstring) left practice early on Tuesday and underwent an MRI. The team will be cautious with him moving forward, but one source said he potentially could be back "for scrimmages in a few weeks," according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Hopefully, nagging lower body injuries don't become a theme for the 30-year-old wide receiver, but it is possible. Kupp still presents sky-high upside, particularly in PPR leagues, but he'll carry injury risk after missing eight games last season and undergoing offseason surgery.

  • Cooper Kupp Leaves Practice Early Tuesday

    Headshot for Cooper Kupp

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp (undisclosed) was forced to leave training camp practice on Tuesday with an undisclosed injury. Kupp walked off the field with the athletic training staff. "He looked like he came up a little bit in a red-zone route. I just know they told me he was out for practice," head coach Sean McVay said. Kupp had a shortened 2022 season due to a right high-ankle sprain, but it's unclear if this injury is related at all to his ankle. The 30-year-old should be considered day-to-day until we know more on the specific nature of what forced him from Tuesday's practice. While LA's offense isn't nearly as dangerous as it was when they won the Super Bowl, Kupp should continue to be a target hog (when healthy) with not much competition for targets in the receiving corps.

  • Cooper Kupp Still Getting Up To Speed At Practice

    Headshot for Cooper Kupp

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp (knee) is trying to get comfortable at the team's training camp after returning to the practice field on Wednesday. "Things feel fast, like they're just moving a little faster than you're used to", the 30-year-old admitted. Kupp also feels "even just from the first day to second day, things definitely [starting to feel] like, OK, now we're back into the groove". A Week 10 right high-ankle sprain would ultimately end up costing the star wideout the remainder of LA's lost 2022 season from that point on. Kupp, a 2021 triple crown receiver, should be ready to roll for Week 1 and represents a safe WR1 choice in Round 1 of fantasy drafts this summer.

  • Cooper Kupp Practices Wednesday

    Headshot for Cooper Kupp

Los Angeles Rams wide receivers Cooper Kupp (ankle) and Van Jefferson (knee) were both available at the first day of training camp practice on Wednesday. It's unclear exactly how much Kupp did at practice on Wednesday, but he was likely limited. The 30-year-old had tightrope surgery last November on his right high-ankle sprain, but he's expected to be ready to go by Week 1 of the 2023 regular season. Kupp's ankle injury limited him to just nine games in 2022 after he was by far and away the most valuable wideout in fantasy in 2021 with 145 receptions for 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns. He had 75 catches, 812 yards and six TDs in his nine games before his injury in 2022, so although he's a bit more risky coming off injury, Kupp should still be viewed as a top-five fantasy receiver as a target hog in the Rams offense.
