Tier 1
1 Christian McCaffrey, CAR 13 25.6 1.01 30.0

Mike's Thoughts: It is rare for me to put a single player into the top tier by himself. McCaffrey's historical per game output is so far ahead of his peers, he would normally qualify, but coming off a season-ending injury, playing with a new QB, and the high turnover position itself - RB - I'll rank him 1 but in a group of similar high reward backs.

2 Dalvin Cook, MIN 7 26.4 1.03 24.1

Mike's Thoughts: He's missed games every season, which is to be expected for any RB with this many projected carries, really. However, there is a higher perceived injury risk with Cook going back to his 4-game rookie season. Double-digit TD and high catch numbers, thanks to limited receiving options on the Vikings, support Cook at 2. There are additional red flags such as Gary Kubiak no longer the OC, and Rick Dennison possibly out as the OL coach, which may warrant a fade on Cook.

3 Alvin Kamara, NO 6 26.4 1.04 25.2
4 Derrick Henry, TEN 13 28.0 1.04 20.9

Mike's Thoughts: Drafted Henry 1.06 (6) in a 1QB 10-team best ball on 7/20.

5 Ezekiel Elliott, DAL 7 26.4 1.05 15.4

Mike's Thoughts: Drafted Elliott 1.06 (6) in a 1QB 12-team PPR on 8/9.

  • Alvin Kamara - Week 17 Outlook for Fantasy Football

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara is a solid RB1 option in Week 17. The New Orleans offense is currently dealing with a lot of injuries and there aren't many strong options, so Kamara could see more carries as a result. The back posted 52 rushing yards last week and has at least 50 rushing yards in four of the last five games he has played. While the Panthers are stingy against fantasy backs, Kamara's high volume makes him a great starter.

  • Alvin Kamara Rushes For 52 Yards Against Dolphins

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara had 13 carries for 52 yards and two receptions for seven yards on four targets in Monday's loss to Miami. Kamara bounced back after a poor showing last week and now has at least 50 rushing yards in four of the past five games. The RB will continue to have a large role in this offense and his weekly production is usually decent enough for fantasy. Kamara is a good fantasy option to close out the season.

  • Alvin Kamara - Week 16 Outlook for Fantasy Football

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara is an RB1 option in Week 16 against Miami. The 26-year-old had an off-week last week but that was against a stingy Tampa run defense. The RB has high volume in this offense and could see even more touches this week given the Saints are preparing to start a rookie QB. Even though the Dolphins are stingy against fantasy backs, Kamara is a must-start given his expected large role with the offense dealing with COVID list placements/injuries.

  • Alvin Kamara Musters 18 Rushing Yards In Week 15

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara managed only 18 rushing yards on 11 carries in Sunday's win over Tampa. The 26-year-old also had two receptions for 13 yards on six targets. This was the elite back's second-worst outing of the season as he posted at least 50 rushing yards in all but one other game this season. Nevertheless, Tampa is a tough run defense so the back likely won't be facing elite defenses like this every week. Kamara will look to get back on track next week against Miami.

  • Alvin Kamara - Week 15 Outlook for Fantasy Football

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara is an RB1 option in Week 15. Kamara returned to the field last week after missing time due to a knee injury and didn't miss a beat as he compiled 27 carries for 120 yards and a score. The RB's volume in this offense is spectacular and as long as he's on the field, he will always have a chance to shine. Even though the Bucs are stingier against fantasy backs, Kamara is a proven workhorse back who should still be started.

  • Alvin Kamara Rushes For 120 Yards Against Jets

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara returned from a multi-week absence (knee) and rushed for 120 yards and added a score in Sunday's win over the Jets. He also had four receptions for 25 yards on five targets. Kamara once again retook his role as the focal point of the offense on Sunday and delivered for fantasy owners after missing several weeks due to injury. Due to his high volume usage, the back is a solid RB1 going forward.

  • Alvin Kamara Removed From Injury Report, Set To Return Vs. Jets

New Orleans running back Alvin Kamara (knee) doesn't carry an injury designation and is set to return after a four-game absence against the New York Jets. According to head coach Sean Payton, Kamara is expected to handle his typical workload in Week 14. The 26-year-old star could have the backfield all to himself on Sunday as teammates Mark Ingram, and Ty Montgomery tested positive for COVID-19 earlier in the week. Kamara is a surefire RB1 versus a Jets defense that has allowed the third-most rushing yards per game (133.4) and rank 32nd in rush DVOA.

  • Alvin Kamara Practices Again Thursday

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (knee) was back at practice again on Thursday after he was a full participant on Wednesday. Offensive tackles Ryan Ramczyk (knee) and Terron Armstead (knee) were also both practicing, putting them in line to return in Week 14 against the New York Jets. Barring a setback, Kamara will return to action for the first time since Week 9. The presence of Taysom Hill at quarterback isn't great for Kamara's ceiling in fantasy, but the do-it-all RB should still be a must-start RB1 against a Jets defense that has allowed the third-most rushing yards per game (133.4). Also, veteran backup Mark Ingram II is on the COVID-19 list and could be out this weekend.

  • Alvin Kamara - Week 14 Outlook for Fantasy Football

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara is an RB1 option against the Jets in Week 14. The back is expected to return to the field this week after missing time due to a knee injury. He will reclaim the workhorse role once again and will see high volume in an offense that's generally weak and will be missing Mark Ingram II (COVID-19 list). The Jets allow the most fantasy points to backs, so the 26-year-old is one of the best plays of the week.

  • Alvin Kamara Returns To Full Practice

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (knee) was a full participant in practice on Wednesday and is expected to play in Week 14 against the New York Jets. Kamara has been out since Week 9, but all signs are pointing toward him having a full workload this weekend, especially with veteran Mark Ingram II on the COVID-19 list. Despite the long layoff due to his knee injury, Kamara will be a must-start RB1 in his return against a Jets defense that has allowed the third-most rushing yards per game (133.4) and the most fantasy points per game to RBs in 2021. If Ingram isn't cleared by Sunday's game, expect Ty Montgomery and Tony Jones Jr. to spell Kamara in his return.

  • Alvin Kamara Expected To Practice Wednesday

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (knee) is expected to return to practice on Wednesday. Kamara has been sidelined since Week 9, but barring a setback this week, there's a very real chance that he'll be active on Sunday against the New York Jets in a great matchup. Veteran Mark Ingram II, who has seen most of the backfield touches for the Saints with Kamara injured, is on the COVID-19 list and may miss the Week 14 game. If Kamara is back, there's a chance that he'll have his snaps monitored due to the long layoff, but most fantasy managers should feel comfortable putting him back into their starting lineups. The bigger concern could be quarterback Taysom Hill stealing away a lot of designed runs himself. Ty Montgomery saw more work out of the backfield last week and could back up Kamara if he returns on Sunday.

  • Alvin Kamara Expected Back On Sunday

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (knee) figures to return to the lineup in a juicy matchup against the Jets. If Kamara is healthy enough to play then he's a must start in fantasy; however, we might need to temper expectations if you're hoping for that elite upside. Mark Ingram Jr. has continued to cut into Kamara's usage, and the Saints will likely be cautious with their star in his first game back. Also, Kamara has averaged only four targets a game with Taysom Hill under center as Hill often opts to run rather than check down. This will limit some of Kamara's ceiling, but he should still be in for a solid game against a mediocre Jets defense.

  • Alvin Kamara Ruled Out For Thursday Night Football

The New Orleans Saints ruled out Alvin Kamara (knee), offensive tackles Ryan Ramczyk (knee), and Terron Armstead in Thursday's game against the Dallas Cowboys. Kamara was initially listed as questionable, but the Saints ultimately decided to play it safe and rule the star running back out. The 26-year-old will miss his fourth consecutive game with a knee sprain. His next chance to return will be next Sunday against the New York Jets. This week, Mark Ingram II (knee) was a full participant in practice and will lead the Saints backfield against the Cowboys. The 31-year-old was cleared to play after he missed the Thanksgiving game loss to the Buffalo Bills with a knee injury. Ingram is a mid-range RB2 against a Dallas defense that ranks fourth in rush DVOA this season.

  • Alvin Kamara Officially Questionable For Week 13

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (knee) was limited in practice all week and is officially questionable to play on Thursday night against the Dallas Cowboys. Offensive tackles Terron Armstead (knee) and Ryan Ramczyk (knee) are also questionable, but both players missed practice the last two days. Kamara seems to be on track to play in Week 13, but after missing the last three games with a knee sprain, it's fair to wonder if he'll have a full workload against Dallas if he's active. If he's active, he'll be more of a high-end RB2 for fantasy managers instead of the typical locked-in RB1 he is when fully healthy. Veteran Mark Ingram II would return to being an RB2 if Kamara misses his fourth straight game.

  • Alvin Kamara Practices Again Tuesday

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (knee) practiced for the third straight day on Tuesday, which has him trending in the right direction to play on Thursday night against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 13. However, there's still of a bit of a will-see situation with Kamara right now as far as whether he plays, and if he does play, how much he'll actually be used in the game after missing the last three contests. The bad news for New Orleans' offensive line and running game is that offensive tackles Terron Armstead (knee) and Ryan Ramczyk (knee) both missed practice Tuesday. Kamara could be looking at fewer snaps and could lose some carries to quarterback Taysom Hill, if he starts, but if Kamara is active, he'll be in the RB2 mix, at worst.

  • Alvin Kamara Listed As Limited Monday

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (knee) was listed as limited in Monday's practice. Kamara hasn't practiced or played since suffering a sprained MCL in Week 9, so the Saints and fantasy managers could have him back for a Thursday night game against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 13. We'll continue to keep a close eye on his practice participation leading up to Thursday's game. With Mark Ingram (knee) also out in the Thanksgiving loss to the Buffalo Bills, Tony Jones Jr. handled 16 carries for 27 yards but wasn't targeted in the passing game. Kamara could have his snaps limited on Thursday against Dallas if he returns to action and could lose valuable carries to quarterback Taysom Hill, who is in line to start, but he'd at least be in the RB2 conversation if he's active.

  • Alvin Kamara Ruled Out Against Bills

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (knee) missed practice all week and has been ruled out for the Thanksgiving game against the Buffalo Bills on Thursday evening. It will be Kamara's third straight missed game. Veteran Mark Ingram II (knee) is also questionable to play, so if he's also out, Tony Jones Jr. would see an increased workload as the team's primary running back. We could also expect a heavier dose of quarterback Taysom Hill in running packages. Dwayne Washington is the only other RB on the active roster. The Saints also ruled out offensive tackle Ryan Ramczyk (knee), while tackle Terron Armstead (knee, shoulder) is questionable. The Saints offensive line is vulnerable and the running game could be down to their No. 3 option. The Bills defense, already one of the tougher units to run on, makes for a great play this weekend.

  • Alvin Kamara, Mark Ingram II Absent On Tuesday

New Orleans Saints running backs Alvin Kamara (knee) and Mark Ingram II (knee) were absent at the team's walkthrough on Tuesday, according to team reporter Nick Underhill. This isn't a great sign for their availability on Thursday night, but there will be more clarity in regards to their game statuses on Wednesday. Kamara has been sidelined for the past two games, so no practice in a short week is not a good sign for his status. The Saints face a tough matchup against the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night, so Kamara is the only must-start option if he is active. Ingram could have some upside as an RB2 due to his heavy workload in Kamara's absence, but Tony Jones Jr. could cut into his playing time if Ingram is still banged up on Thursday. Should both of them miss Week 12, that would leave Jones and Dwayne Washington in the New Orleans backfield, which may be a situation to avoid entirely for fantasy managers.

  • Alvin Kamara Doesn't Practice Monday

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (knee) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's estimated practice report. Kamara has missed the last two games with a sprained knee and might not be able to make it back on a short week this Thursday against the Buffalo Bills. Unless something changes drastically on Tuesday, fantasy managers should be prepared to go in another direction at running back in Week 12. If Kamara misses a third straight game, veteran Mark Ingram II will be in line to once again serve as the primary RB, but he'll be facing a Bills defense that has been one of the better defenses at stopping the run in the NFL. Ingram will be more of a low-end RB2, with Tony Jones Jr. backing him up.

  • Alvin Kamara Officially Out For Second Straight Week

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (knee) has officially been ruled out for the second straight game in Week 11 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Offensive tackles Terron Armstead (knee, shoulder) and Ryan Ramczyk (knee) were also ruled out, so New Orleans' offensive line and running game will be compromised against Philly this Sunday. Mark Ingram II stepped into the lead-back role in the Week 10 loss to the Tennessee Titans and served as a solid plug-and-play RB2 for fantasy managers. If quarterback Taysom Hill (foot) is unable to play, Dwayne Washington could see a few more chances as a change-of-pace back behind Ingram, but he won't be worth using in fantasy lineups.

  • Alvin Kamara Held Out Of Practice Thursday

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (knee) wasn't on the practice field on Thursday during the period open to the media. It's a downgrade after Kamara was limited in Wednesday's practice after being inactive in the Week 10 loss to the Tennessee Titans. It's possible that the 26-year-old star running back had a setback, but the Saints could also be resting him after his return to action Wednesday. In any event, we should know more by Friday as to whether he has a shot at returning as an RB1 in Week 11 against the Philadelphia Eagles. As of right now, Kamara is highly questionable to play this weekend. If he misses another game, veteran Mark Ingram II will once again be the team's primary back and will have RB2 upside against Philly.

  • Alvin Kamara Back at Practice on Wednesday

New Orleans running back Alvin Kamara (knee) was back at practice on Wednesday after missing Sunday's game. Being back at practice this early in the week is obviously a good sign that Kamara will suit up in a tough matchup against the Eagles. If he plays, he should obviously be in your lineup; however, the Saints haven't hesitated to give some of Kamara's workload to Mark Ingram II, so I would definitely expect that to be the case with Kamara coming off of injury. As a result, he's probably more of a low-end RB1 this week as opposed to his normal elite tier. Ingram should also be held in leagues where he is on a roster just in case Kamara isn't 100% as he makes his way through the week of practice.

  • Alvin Kamara Ruled Out Against Titans

The New Orleans Saints officially ruled out running back Alvin Kamara (knee) for the Week 10 game against the Tennessee Titans due to a knee injury that kept him from practicing all week. This was the likely outcome after it was reported earlier on Friday that Kamara still hadn't returned to the practice field due to a mild knee sprain. It sounds like it's not a serious injury for the 26-year-old, but you'll have to replace him in your weekly starting lineups. Veteran Mark Ingram II will now be in line for the majority of the Saints backfield touches with Kamara out, although quarterback Taysom Hill could be involved in the rushing attack after returning from a concussion last week. Ingram will be a touchdown-dependent RB2/3.

  • Alvin Kamara Misses Third Practice Friday

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (knee) missed his third practice of the week on Friday, making it even more likely that he won't play in Week 10 against the Tennessee Titans. Kamara is dealing with a mild knee sprain, but fantasy managers should consider him to be on the wrong side of questionable before the Saints official injury designations are released. Even if the 26-year-old plays on Sunday, he could be limited. Mark Ingram II is in line to see an elevated role in New Orleans' offense if Kamara is inactive or limited, putting him on the RB2/3 borderline. If you're in need of running back help or have Kamara rostered and Ingram is available on the waiver wire, pick him up immediately.

  • Alvin Kamara Not Spotted At Practice

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (knee) was not spotted at practice again on Thursday in the portion open to the media. Kamara is dealing with a mild knee sprain and has missed two practices this week. There's some concern surrounding the 26-year-old, but if he's able to get on the field in a limited capacity on Friday, he should be able to avoid an inactive tag in Week 10 against the Tennessee Titans. At the very least, he could be heading towards a questionable tag this weekend. If he is limited or out, veteran Mark Ingram II would become a plug-and-play for fantasy lineups as the Saints lead back, with Dwayne Washington backing him up. As always, if Kamara is active, he needs to be in all fantasy lineups.

  • Alvin Kamara Not In Attendance Wednesday

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (knee) was not spotted during the portion of practice open to the media on Wednesday. It's not a major situation and sounds like more of a day-to-day injury, but nevertheless it is threatening Kamara's status for the Week 10 game against the Tennessee Titans. Fantasy managers need to keep a close eye on his status through the rest of the week, but there is a chance that he could play, even if he doesn't practice at all this week. The 26-year-old will remain a high-end RB1 if he plays, with the Saints likely to continue to lean on him with quarterback Jameis Winston (knee) out for the rest of the season. If Kamara were to miss Sunday's game, Mark Ingram II would become a plug-and-play replacement. Dwayne Washington is the only other RB on the active roster.

  • Alvin Kamara Dealing With An Injury?

The New Orleans Saints worked out free-agent running backs Kerryon Johnson, Rodney Smith and Josh Adams on Tuesday, and there have been whispers that Alvin Kamara might have gotten banged up in the Week 9 loss to the Atlanta Falcons last Sunday. This will be something to watch as far as Kamara's practice status is concerned in the lead-up to the Week 10 game against the Tennessee Titans. The 26-year-old played only 68% of the offensive snaps compared to 34% for backup Mark Ingram II, and Kamara only had six more touches than Ingram as well. Kamara still managed to find the end zone and, but he caught one fewer pass than Ingram on two more targets. It's something to watch this week, but if Kamara is good enough to play this weekend against Tennessee, he's a must-start RB1.

  • Alvin Kamara Paces Team In Rushing And Receiving

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara finished with 13 carries for 50 yards and a score along with four receptions for 54 yards on seven targets in Sunday's loss to the Falcons. Kamara continues to be the engine of this offense and now has at least 50 rushing yards in the last six games along with at least 50 receiving yards in three of the last four games. Given his incredibly large role, the back remains a solid RB1 going forward.

  • Alvin Kamara - Week 9 Outlook for Fantasy Football

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara is a strong RB1 against Atlanta. Kamara has been the center of this offense since Week 1 and that should not change going forward with WR Michael Thomas out for the rest of the season with his ankle injury. Kamara has posted at least 61 rushing yards in four of the past five games and Atlanta allows the eighth-most fantasy points to running backs, so the back is a solid play.

  • Alvin Kamara Records 76 Scrimmage Yards And A Score

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara carried the ball 19 times for 61 rushing yards, adding three catches for 15 receiving yards in a win over the Buccaneers. Kamara struggled to find much running room against a stout Buccaneers front, though he did manage to salvage a somewhat disappointing fantasy effort with a rushing score. The star halfback's 22 total touches were the most on the team by far, as he continues to handle elite-level workloads. Unfortunately, Kamara's passing game usage took a step back- an interesting dynamic to monitor with Jameis Winston (knee) expected to miss extended time.

  • Alvin Kamara - Week 8 Outlook for Fantasy Football

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara will get a tough matchup against the Buccaneers' defense in Week 8. Tampa Bay has allowed the second-fewest rushing yards to opposing halfbacks but has been susceptible to pass-catching backs, having surrendered the second-most receptions to the position. Kamara's usage as a receiver was a question mark earlier in the year but shouldn't be anymore after he has totaled 15 catches on 19 targets for 179 yards and two scores. While the addition of Mark Ingram II could mean a few fewer carries in the red zone, it will mean more chances to catch passes out of the backfield, Kamara's specialty. He is an elite RB1 this week.

The back is the most important player on this offense and has been effective in the rushing and passing game this season. He's a solid RB1 in weeks going forward.
