Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Evan Engram finished with six receptions for 57 yards on Sunday against the Chiefs. It was another respectable outing from the veteran tight end, who now has 11 receptions for 106 yards through two games, proving to be the most consistent pass-catcher of the bunch so far. The former Ole Miss star may not be in the top tier of his position, but he's about as safe as they come in terms of consistent scoring. Engram can always be counted on for 8-12 points per week in PPR and also comes with upside with quarterback Trevor Lawrence at the helm. Even on a day when the offense struggled mightily, Engram still had his role carved out and produced for fantasy managers. Continue to play him as a mid-tier TE1.

More production is to be expected of the veteran tight end when the Jaguars take on the Chiefs in what should be a high-scoring affair this week. Kansas City let Lions rookie tight end Sam LaPorta haul in a number of looks in his first-ever game, so there should be some open seams for Engram to exploit on Sunday. Jacksonville Jaguars Tight End Evan Engram put up career numbers in 2022, finishing as the TE5 in PRR scoring. He caught 73 passes for 746 yards and four touchdowns over 17 games in 2022. The Colts were middle of the pack last year at defending the tight end position, allowing 73 receptions, which ranked 12th overall. With a new-look secondary that has yet to play much together, the Colts will likely fall to the back half of the league in this department, which means Engram could be in for a nice fantasy day on the first NFL Sunday of the season. Start him, but always temper expectations with tight-ends that aren't named Travis Kelce and Mark Andrews .

Brenton Strange Leads Jaguars With Four Targets In Win Over Lions

Jacksonville Jaguars rookie tight end Brenton Strange had three catches for 23 yards in Saturday's 25-7 preseason win over the Detroit Lions. The Penn State product led the team in targets with four and showed improvement after only logging two receptions for eight yards against Dallas in the first preseason outing. Evan Engram is the unquestioned TE1 after signing a lucrative two-year extension this off-season. Still, Strange is giving Luke Farrell a run for his money on the backup tight-end position in Jacksonville. The 2023 second-round pick will likely need another solid outing if he is going to lock that position down, but it would only be fantasy viable if Engram were to miss time.

Jaguars, Evan Engram Agree On Three-Year Extension

The Jacksonville Jaguars and franchise-tagged tight end Evan Engram agreed to a three-year, $42.5 million contract extension on Sunday, according to his agent, Mike McCartney. The Jaguars lock Engram up for the long term with head coach Doug Pederson and quarterback Trevor Lawrence after he had a career-high 73 catches for 766 yards and four touchdowns in 17 regular season games (14 starts). The 28-year-old was given the $11.35 million franchise tag earlier this offseason, but that won't matter now. Engram put himself firmly in the TE1 picture in fantasy last year, although his targets could take a hit in 2023 with new wide receiver Calvin Ridley now in the picture. The former first-rounder has never really been much of a red-zone weapon, either, so fantasy managers shouldn't expect better numbers from Engram in 2023.
