  • Jared Goff Posts 210 Yards, One Touchdown In Win

    Headshot for Jared Goff

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff completed 19 of his 28 passing attempts for 210 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in the Thursday Night Football victory over the Green Bay Packers. Goff needs a massive yardage total or multiple touchdowns to pay dividends for fantasy managers since he has limited rushing upside, so it was a letdown fantasy performance. However, the team relied on David Montgomery (34 touches) and held a lead for the entire game. When the Lions' are in more pass-happy game scripts, Goff will be back in QB1 contention.

  • Jared Goff A Borderline QB1 Against Packers

    Headshot for Jared Goff

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff has thrown for 819 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions through three games this year. For what it's worth, he's also rushed for a touchdown. He is the overall fantasy QB10 thus far and has plenty of upside in any matchup due to his high-powered offense. That said, pure pocket passers usually need at least two touchdowns to pay off in fantasy football. Against the Green Bay Packers, who have allowed the 14th-most fantasy points to the position, two touchdowns are well within his range of outcomes. It's worth noting Jaire Alexander (back) could miss this game.

  • Lions Targeting Jared Goff Extension?

    Headshot for Jared Goff

The Rams making Jared Goff the NFL’s second-highest-paid player in September 2019 ended up benefiting the Lions, who capitalized on the former No. 1 overall pick’s depressed value barely 16 months later. Agreeing to take on Goff’s $33.5MM-per-year contract led to the Lions picking up an extra first-round pick in the January 2021 Matthew Stafford […]

  • Jared Goff Throws For 243 Yards, Scores Two Touchdowns In Win

    Headshot for Jared Goff

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff completed 22 of his 33 passes for 243 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in the Week 3 win over the Atlanta Falcons. He also rushed for a touchdown, so he delivered a strong fantasy performance once again. The Lions' offense is rolling and will head to Lambeau Field for a bout with the Green Bay Packers in Week 3. Goff will likely carry a high-end QB2 or low-end QB1 outlook into most matchups moving forward.

  • Jared Goff Remains High-Ceiling Option In Week 3

    Headshot for Jared Goff

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff threw for 323 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 3. When the veteran signal-caller plays at home, he is much more efficient and has big-time upside as a passer. In Week 3, the Lions host the Atlanta Falcons, who gave up three passing scores to Jordan Love last week. With David Montgomery (thigh) likely out of action, Detroit could be more inclined to dial up the passing attempts. Although Goff does not possess rushing upside and is reliant on big passing numbers and touchdowns, he's a solid play at quarterback this week and has a low-end QB1 outlook.

  • Jared Goff Throws For 323 Yards, Three Touchdowns

    Headshot for Jared Goff

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff completed 28 of his 35 passing attempts for 323 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception in the 31-37 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Goff was once again efficient and prolific at home, but ultimately snapped his streak of 383 passing attempts without an interception. Still, he paid off in fantasy football. When the former No. 1 overall pick is at home and playing against a suspect defense, he has a high ceiling and can usually be trusted in fantasy lineups.

  • Jared Goff - Week 2 Outlook for Fantasy Football

    Headshot for Jared Goff

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff had a decent Week 1 outing against the Kansas City Chiefs, throwing for 253 yards and one touchdown. A Week 2 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks could raise his ceiling. Seattle was picked apart by Matthew Stafford (334 passing yards) in Week 1, despite the Los Angeles Rams being without Cooper Kupp (hamstring). If that's any indication of things to come, the Lions offense could have a big day in the home-opener. Last season, Goff threw for 23 touchdowns and just three interceptions at home. He's most comfortable in Detroit and sets up to be a solid low-end QB1 option in Week 2.

  • Jared Goff Throws For 253 Yards In Win

    Headshot for Jared Goff

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff completed 22 of his 35 passing attempts for one touchdown and zero interceptions in the 21-20 win over the Kansas City Chiefs. Since Goff doesn't do damage as a runner, he needs multi-touchdown games to pay off in fantasy football. That said, he turned out not to be a great streaming option in Week 1. The Lions' offense wasn't as explosive as expected, but the unit could come together as the season moves along. Pass-catchers Amon-Ra St. Brown, Josh Reynolds, and Sam LaPorta looked good, so there is hope moving forward.

  • Jared Goff A High-End QB2 Against Chiefs

    Headshot for Jared Goff

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career last year, throwing for 4,438 yards, 29 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. The veteran signal-caller posted the 10th-most fantasy points at the position last year. Last season, Kansas City allowed the sixth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks, and this Thursday night season-opener should be a high-scoring affair. Although Jameson Williams (suspension) is out, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Sam LaPorta, Marvin Jones Jr., Josh Reynolds, and Jahmyr Gibbs should provide Goff enough firepower to post at least a high-end QB2 performance.

  • Lions Keeping "Open Dialogue" With Jared Goff, Jonah Jackson

The Lions continue to pursue extensions with two key players. • Jared Goff And The Lions Working Towards An Extension

    Headshot for Jared Goff

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff and the team are working towards an extension, according to general manager Brad Holmes. The Lions' GM told the media that they've had "good dialogue" with Goff on a possible contract extension with the team. The 28-year-old QB was part of the Matthew Stafford trade with the Los Angeles Rams prior to the 2021 season. Goff originally figured to just be a stop-gap option at quarterback while the Lions looked for a long-term solution at the position but he's played better than expected. He threw for 4438 yards last season to go along with 29 touchdowns to just seven interceptions. While the Lions have missed the postseason the last two years with Goff under center, if he can lead them to a playoff berth this year, it would go a long way in extension talks. It's likely the team won't reach a deal with Goff prior to the start of the 2023 season as he's set to become a free agent in 2025. With that said, this definitely isn't the last we've heard of this situation.

  • Sam LaPorta Could Be Jared Goff's Second-Favorite Target

    Headshot for Jared Goff

We knew the Detroit Lions had big plans for rookie tight end Sam LaPorta when they took him with the 34th overall pick in this year's draft. LaPorta has been with the first-team offense since the start of training camp this summer and he has shown the ability to make catches in traffic, provide yards after the catch and find ways to get open. The Athletic's Colton Pouncy writes that LaPorta might already be quarterback Jared Goff's second-favorite target behind receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. Fantasy managers should always be wary of relying on a rookie tight end because of the learning curve at the position, but there's no denying that the 22-year-old should have a pretty big role right away. LaPorta is best drafted as a low-end TE2 with upside for more in deeper fantasy leagues.

  • Jerry Jacobs Praises Jared Goff

    Headshot for Jared Goff

Detroit Lions cornerback Jerry Jacobs thinks quarterback Jared Goff is one of the best at his position in the league. "Jared Goff is the best quarterback, he's really top five in the NFC if you want to be honest if you pull the stat stuff and all that," Jacobs said. "I'm gonna be honest, I've played against a lot of quarterbacks. Aaron Rodgers would be in my top five, but Jared Goff's up there. Everybody sleep on my dog and I love how he take it in, like he don't be cocky or nothing like that. He just soak it in and play ball to this game, that type of reaction. He's a great quarterback and I can't wait for him to you know, go out and prove everybody wrong." Goff finished as the QB10 in fantasy in 2022 and has plenty of weapons in the offense. However, it won't be easy to match is numbers from a year ago, and Goff is still best used as a high-end fantasy backup.
