Latest On Jameis Winston's Commitment To New Orleans, Knee Injury
Jameis Winston isn’t one of the many new faces on New Orleans’ offense, but his absence from the team midway through 2021 will make him seem, in a sense, like a new arrival this fall. He spoke recently about his decision to re-sign with the Saints, which was made within the context of a number of […]
May 30 · Pro Football Rumors Saints Jameis WinstonJameis Winston Shows Visible Limp
New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston (knee) was moving with a visible limp during organized team activity practices last week. Winston had surgery to fix a torn ACL that he suffered in Week 7 of last year, and he's around six months removed from the surgery. He also had a brace on his left knee, and NewOrleans.Football's Nick Underhill said that Winston has some more work to do in his recovery. It was good to see the 28-year-old on the field with his teammates, but it's clear he's not fully recovered just yet. The Saints expect Winston to be ready for training camp this summer, and barring any setbacks, he'll be the team's Week 1 starter. With Michael Thomas (ankle) returning and the addition of rookie Chris Olave, Winston will have more targets in the passing game in 2022.

Latest On Jameis Winston
The Saints’ offense will look much different at the beginning of the 2022 season than it did at the end of last year’s campaign. One of the most important of those differences is the expected return of a healthy Jameis Winston in time for the start of the year. The 28-year-old has been in attendance at […]
May 27 · Pro Football Rumors Saints Jameis WinstonJameis Winston Does Almost Everything Thursday
New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston (knee) did almost everything at organized team activities on Thursday, which is a great sign. Winston also practiced on Wednesday and remains on track to be ready for Week 1 of the regular season after tearing his ACL last year. Fantasy managers will want to keep eye on the 28-year-old's progress throughout the offseason training program and into training camp this summer. But if he continues to progress well and doesn't suffer any setbacks, he'll be an intriguing low-end QB1 target if wide receiver Michael Thomas (ankle) can return healthy as well after missing all of last season. The Saints also drafted rookie wideout Chris Olave in the first round to give Winston another prominent weapon in the passing game.

Jameis Winston Participating At OTAs
New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston (knee) was spotted doing on-field drills during OTAs on Wednesday, contradicting previous reports suggesting he wouldn't be attending. The veteran tore his ACL in Week 8 and missed the remainder of the 2021 season. However, he appears to be moving in the right direction, with the hope remaining that he can suit up for Week 1. Nevertheless, if Winston can stay healthy, he'll have a chance to be an impactful fantasy presence, primarily since he'll have Alvin Kamara, Michael Thomas, Jarvis Landry, and Chris Olave as his targets. He may not be considered a week-to-week fantasy option at the moment, but that could very well change.

Jameis Winston Expected To Skip OTAs
New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston (knee) is expected to skip upcoming OTAs. During Week 8 of the 2021-22 season, the veteran tore his ACL and damaged his MCL, forcing him to miss the remainder of the year. Fortunately, he is progressing well, but the team will continue to take a cautious approach regarding his rehab. Winston had played relatively well before succumbing to the ailment, compiling 1,170 yards, 14 touchdowns, and three picks, although he only completed 59% of his throws. Nonetheless, not only does the 28-year-old hope to be ready for Week 1, he plans on being a full participant at training camp over the summer. He'll have some capable options on the receiving end, so he could be a serviceable backup for fantasy managers this season if he can get healthy.

Jameis Winston Plans To Be Ready For Week 1
New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston (knee) said he plans to be ready for the Week 1 regular season opener on the road against the Atlanta Falcons. "Coach, if you needed me to strap it on right now, I'd be ready to go," Winston told former Lions and 49ers coach Steve Mariucci on Thursday. The 28-year-old tore his left ACL last year and was only able to play in seven games, throwing for 1,170 yards, 14 touchdowns and only three interceptions. Hopefully Winston can remain productive and avoid turnovers with new head coach Dennis Kelly taking over, and he'll have the chance to be even better with the return of wide receiver Michael Thomas and with the addition of first-round pass-catcher Chris Olave.

Saints Envision Jameis Winston Starting Week 1
The Saints were one of the finalists to acquire Deshaun Watson, but they ultimately brought back a familiar face to be their starting quarterback for the immediate future. Jameis Winston is recovering from a torn ACL, but new head coach Dennis Allen plans on him being healthy to start the 2022 season. When speaking on the Rich Eisen Show, Allen was […]
May 9 · Pro Football Rumors Saints Jameis WinstonSaints Plan To Have Jameis Winston Starting In Week 1
New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen said the team's plan is for quarterback Jameis Winston (knee) to be the Week 1 starter. "We like the progress that he's making. Man I really loved a lot of the things he did last year for us," Allen said. "He's doing well in the rehab process. Jameis is probably one of the hardest workers that I've been around. He's just got a tireless work ethic and he loves football. That's his life. Everything is all about ball to him. He's working his tail off." The 28-year-old is working his way back from a torn left ACL suffered last year. Winston wasn't outstanding, but he looked good and limited turnovers as the starter last year before his injury, and his fantasy stock is rising with receiver Michael Thomas (ankle) set to return and with the addition of first-round pass-catcher Chris Olave.

Saints Trade Up To Select Chris Olave
The New Orleans Saints traded up with the Washington Commanders to select Ohio State wide receiver Chris Olave with the 11th overall pick of the 2022 NFL draft on Thursday night. The Commanders will move from No. 11 to No. 16 in the first round. That's back-to-back Ohio State receiving products in the 2022 draft. Olave is a track star with high-end speed that will give the Saints a deep target to pair with a healthy Michael Thomas returning this season. Olave cracked the Ohio State roster as a true freshman, and he had 35 career receiving touchdowns, an Ohio State record. Quarterback Jameis Winston could mesh nicely with Olave in his rookie season, giving him plenty of dynasty and deep-league appeal for fantasy managers.

Saints Could Be Targeting Kenny Pickett
If the New Orleans Saints target a quarterback in this year's draft, it could very well be Pittsburgh's Kenny Pickett, in the opinion of the New Orleans Times-Picayune's Jeff Duncan. Pickett is a favorite to be the first signal-caller off the board this year, and he checks many of the boxes that general manager Jeff Ireland looks for in a young QB. Ireland has been drawn to tall quarterbacks like Pickett, and the Saints trade up in the first round of the draft could signal that they will go with a QB early on. Jameis Winston will be the starter under center in 2022, but Pickett could benefit immensely from sitting a year and learning.
