  • Marcus Mariota Has One Touchdown In Week 12

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Marcus Mariota struggled in the team's 19-13 Week 12 loss to the Washington Commanders. The veteran quarterback completed only 60% of his pass attempts for 174 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. He also added six rushing attempts for 49 yards on the ground. However, the former Oregon Duck had under 190 passing yards for the fourth straight game and the eighth time over the past nine weeks. Despite the appealing matchup against the Commanders, Mariota scored only 13.9 fantasy points. Hopefully, the veteran quarterback can bounce back next week against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Otherwise, the Falcons could make a change at quarterback after their Week 14 bye.

  • Marcus Mariota A Capable Streamer In Week 12

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Marcus Mariota has played well this season. The veteran is the QB9 for the year, averaging 15.7 fantasy points per game. Furthermore, he has averaged 17.1 fantasy points per game over the past seven weeks, scoring 17.7 or more in over 70% of those contests. More importantly, the former Oregon Duck has four total touchdowns over the past two weeks, scoring 17.5 or more fantasy points in both games. Meanwhile, the Washington Commanders have surrendered 16.9 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this season, slightly above the league average. They have given up two or more passing touchdowns in 55% of the games this season, including two straight before last week. While Mariota won't have Kyle Pitts (knee) this week, the veteran remains a solid streaming option.

  • Commanders Defense A Solid Play In Week 12

The Washington Commanders defense has taken a big step forward recently. After shutting down the Philadelphia Eagles with a stunning win on the road, they issued a repeat performance in Week 11 with a dominant showing against the Houston Texans. So far this season, the defense has been top-three in pressure rate and top-10 in run defense. The Commanders are going up against an Atlanta Falcons offense that heavily relies on the run. If Washington can continue to shut down running backs, they could have a field day against struggling quarterback Marcus Mariota. Start them with confidence in Week 12.

  • Marcus Mariota Has A Pair Of Touchdowns In Win

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Marcus Mariota had another solid fantasy performance in the 27-24 Week 11 win over the Chicago Bears. The veteran quarterback had only 20 pass attempts but still totaled 130 yards and a two-yard touchdown to Drake London in the first quarter. Furthermore, he had 13 rushing attempts for 25 yards and a touchdown in Week 11. While the former Oregon Star hasn't thrown for under 190 yards in three straight games, Mariota has back-to-back performances with over 17 fantasy points. The veteran quarterback has 17 or more fantasy points in five of his past seven contests. Mariota should keep up his solid production next week against the Washington Commanders.

  • Marcus Mariota To Remain Starter

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Marcus Mariota doesn't appears in danger of losing his starting job. It sounds like the team plans to continue starting Mariota as long as the Falcons are in the playoff hunt. The 29-year-old has done a find job considering the lack of talent around him. However, the team might move on to rookie Desmond Ridder if they fall out of the playoff picture. It was reported earlier in the year that the Falcons didn't plan on using Ridder this season. Although, plans change, so we'll see if Ridder gets a chance late in the season. For now, the Falcons will continue to ride with Mariota as long as they continue to be competitive. Mariota is an interesting streaming option for the Week 11 matchup against the Chicago Bears. A defense that was torched by Tua Tagovailoa a few weeks ago.

  • Marcus Mariota Not On The Hot Seat

Atlanta Falcons head coach Arthur Smith defended starting quarterback Marcus Mariota on Monday. "There is no situation. There was never a situation, ever. I don't know where thatYou understand why the question is getting asked. You lose two games in five days. Everybody wants to panic," Smith said. Mariota went 19-for-30 for 186 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in last Thursday's loss to the Carolina Panthers, also adding 43 rushing yards on three carries. But the 29-year-old was running for his life and was fortunate to come away with only the one interception while forcing unnecessary passes all night long. Mariota has been under 200 yards passing in six of his last seven games and enters Week 11 as the QB11 thanks to his rushing ability.

  • Marcus Mariota Throws Two Touchdowns

While the veteran quarterback had a pair of passing touchdowns, he threw for only 186 passing yards. Furthermore, it took 30 pass attempts for Mariota to throw for only 186 yards. More importantly, it was the sixth time over the past seven games that the veteran quarterback threw for under 190 yards, totaling 147 or fewer passing yards five times. The pair of touchdowns saved Mariota's fantasy points as he ended the game with 17.7 fantasy points. After losing three of their past four games, the Falcons could consider switching quarterbacks for their Week 11 matchup against the Chicago Bears.

  • Jake Matthews Leaves Team For Personal Reasons

Atlanta Falcons left tackle Jake Matthews has headed back to Atlanta on Thursday for his wife's delivery of his first child. However, the hope is to have Matthews back in time for the Thursday night game against the Carolina Panthers. Matthews has been a key cog for Atlanta's four-headed rushing attack this year as well as for the protection of quarterback Marcus Mariota, so they'll certainly hope he can play in Week 10. The Falcons are the only team in the NFL to have four different players with 250-plus rushing yards and 60-plus carries. If Matthews is unable to return to Carolina in time for kickoff on Thursday Night Football, it will be a downgrade for Atlanta's offense as they look to beat the Panthers for the second time in three weeks.

He has thrown for under 130 yards in three of the past four games. More importantly, the former Oregon star had zero touchdowns for only the second time this season. Despite the appealing matchup, Mariota scored only 7.6 fantasy points against the Chargers. With a short week, the Falcons are unlikely to make a change at quarterback. However, if Mariota struggles on Thursday night against the Carolina Panthers, Desmond Ridder could end up starting in Week 11.

  • Chargers DST Can't Be Trusted In Week 9

The Los Angeles Chargers' defense is allowing 27 points per game this season and will go on the road to face the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9. Atlanta is surprisingly averaging 25 points per game and is fresh off of a shootout win against the Carolina Panthers in which the Falcons' offense put up 30 points. Although Marcus Mariota is liable to turn the ball over, the Chargers' defense has simply performed too poorly to be relied upon for fantasy purposes. The Los Angeles DST can be dropped and should not be started on Sunday.

While the former Oregon Ducks star has under 150 passing yards in four straight games, Mariota has averaged 47.3 rushing yards per game over the past three contests. As long as the veteran continues to earn 5-7 rushing attempts per game, he will provide fantasy players with a safe floor. However, his upside is limited until the Falcons call more passing plays.

The former Oregon star has averaged 8.6 fantasy points per game on the ground over the past two weeks. However, the former Oregon star led the Falcons with 61 rushing yards and an 8.7 yards per attempt average. Unfortunately, Mariota got sacked five times in the game and only scored one touchdown. Furthermore, the former Oregon Duck has six turnovers compared to only three passing touchdowns over the past three weeks. • Marcus Mariota - Week 1 Outlook For Fantasy Football

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Marcus Mariota heads into Week 1 as the starter. After winning the job early in training camp over the rookie Desmond Ridder, Mariota should start the first several games of the year, barring injury. However, the last time he was a full-time starter was in 2019 with the Tennessee Titans. That year, the former Oregon Duck threw for 1,203 yards, seven touchdowns, and two interceptions in seven games. Meanwhile, the matchup against the New Orleans Saints is less than ideal. Last year, they held quarterbacks to third-fewest passing touchdowns. Mariota is a low-end QB2 option for those playing in two-quarterback or superflex leagues.
