Jimmy Garoppolo Officially Questionable For Week 4

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (concussion) is officially listed as questionable to face the division-rival Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4 on Sunday. Garoppolo didn't practice on Wednesday but got in limited sessions on Thursday and Friday after suffering a concussion in the Week 3 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The key detail with the 31-year-old is that he has yet to clear the league's concussion protocol, giving him just one more day to do so before game day on Sunday. He's clearly made some progress, though. However, fantasy managers using Jimmy G in two-QB superflex leagues are in a pickle with the game in the late-afternoon slot on Sunday. If Garoppolo isn't cleared, Brian Hoyer or rookie Aidan O'Connell would get the start, which could be a disaster for the offense.

Jimmy Garoppolo Remains in Concussion Protocol

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (concussion) had arguably his best game of the season last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Raiders QB passed for 324 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's loss to the Steelers. It was also arguably Garoppolo's worst game considering his season-low completion percentage and season-high three interceptions. It was encouraging to see his passing yardage eclipse 200 yards for the first time this year, but his turnover woes are still a concern. Garoppolo is slated to face the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. The Chargers are one of the easiest matchups for quarterbacks this season, allowing the most passing yards, third-most passing touchdowns, and third-highest yards per attempt. Garoppolo was placed in the concussion protocol on Sunday night following the contest. As of Friday, Garoppolo remains in the concussion protocol, despite limited practices the last two days, which puts his status for Sunday in doubt. If Garoppolo is unable to clear the protocol on Saturday, the Raiders will likely turn to veteran Brian Hoyer or rookie Aidan O'Connell for the start on Sunday. It may be wise to downgrade expectations for the Raiders offense in this contest.

Jimmy Garoppolo Gets In Limited Practice

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (concussion) was able to get in a limited practice on Thursday, although he remains in the league's concussion protocol. Head coach Josh McDaniels said earlier this week that Garoppolo is making progress after suffering a concussion in the Week 3 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night. The 31-year-old signal-caller still needs to clear the protocol before getting the green light to play this Sunday against the division-rival Los Angeles Chargers, but he's headed in the right direction. If Garoppolo isn't cleared or has a setback, veteran backup Brian Hoyer would start for the Raiders. That would be very bad for the Raiders offense and really good for the Chargers defense in Week 4.

Sep 28 · ESPN Raiders Jimmy GaroppoloJimmy Garoppolo Progressing Through Concussion Protocol

Las Vegas Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels said that quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (concussion) remains in the league's concussion protocol but that he has made some progress. "It's moving (forward), we'll just see how fast it's moving," McDaniels said. The Raiders remain optimistic that Garoppolo will eventually clear the concussion protocol later this week and be available to start in Week 4 against the division-rival Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. Fantasy managers with star wideout Davante Adams are really hoping Jimmy G plays as well. If the 31-year-old can't gain clearance, veteran backup Brian Hoyer would be forced to make the start, which in turn would lower the fantasy value of all of the team's offensive skill players significantly.

Raiders Optimistic Jimmy Garoppolo Will Play In Week 4

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (concussion) was placed in concussion protocol early this week after getting banged up in the Week 3 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, the team is optimistic that he will available against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4. The veteran could be a streaming option against the lackluster Chargers' secondary if he's active, but his presence in the lineup is mostly important for wide receivers Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers. If he doesn't play, Brian Hoyer would likely start. Adams would still be a must-start option, but Meyers' outlook would take a big hit. This is worth monitoring as the week moves forward.

Jimmy Garoppolo Enters Concussion Protocol

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (concussion) was evaluated for a concussion following the Sunday Night Football loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 3. On Monday, he officially entered concussion protocol. It remains to be seen if he'll be ready to play against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4. If he's out, Brian Hoyer would presumably be the starter, and Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers would likely have lower floors. Neither Garoppolo nor Hoyer are high on the fantasy radar in single-quarterback leagues. Fantasy managers in superflex leagues might want to consider picking up Hoyer just in case he draws the start.

Jimmy Garoppolo Being Evaluated For A Concussion

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is being evaluated for a concussion following the loss to the Steelers on Sunday Night Football. Garoppolo played the entire game but did not speak with the media following the game due to the evaluation. The veteran quarterback struggled with turnovers on Sunday, despite throwing for over 300 yards and two touchdowns. 37-year-old Brian Hoyer appears to be next in line if Garoppolo were to miss any game action. The Chargers host the Raiders in Week 4.

Jimmy Garoppolo Fills Stat Sheet Against Steelers

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was asked to do a lot against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night, completing 28-of-44 passes for 324 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions, adding 7 yards on the ground. The 26-year-old looked for Davante Adams early and often, targeting him 19 times and connecting on two touchdowns. Garoppolo left the game briefly in the second quarter after getting bent backward on a sack before returning for the second half. The Raiders offense showed some signs of life this week that they will hope to build on in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Jimmy Garoppolo Not A Starting Option In Fantasy

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has been a serviceable real-world quarterback so far in his first season in Silver and Black, doing just enough to help the team to a 1-1 record despite injuries and a shaky offensive line. The same can't be said for his fantasy outlook, however - the 26-year-old ranks 27th at the position in fantasy points thus far in 2023, and isn't expected to perform much better in the foreseeable future. Garoppolo and the Raiders match up against the Steelers in Week 3, whose defense only surrendered 12.6 fantasy points to QB Deshaun Watson last week. Garoppolo continues to be a mid-range QB3 that should only be considered in superflex leagues.

Jimmy Garoppolo Throws Two Interceptions In Loss

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo completed 16 of his 24 passing attempts for 185 yards, one touchdown, and two picks in a blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 2. Garoppolo and the Raiders scored on an opening drive 16-yard pass to Davante Adams, then did little else. Adams finished the game being evaluated with a head injury, adding to the team's receiver injury woes. The 31-year-old is only relevant in superflex leagues as a QB3.

Jimmy Garoppolo Off The Week 2 Injury Report

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle) has been removed from Friday's final injury report and will start under center on Sunday in Buffalo against the Bills in Week 2. Garoppolo and the Bills will face a stiff test on the road for the second straight week as they attempt to open the 2023 season 2-0. Jimmy G will be without receiver Jakobi Meyers (concussion), who caught both of his touchdown passes in the Week 1 victory over the Denver Broncos. Expect the Raiders to lean on short dump-off passes and their ground game (Josh Jacobs) as much as possible in this one. The 31-year-old Garoppolo is a low-end QB2 option for fantasy managers in superflex leagues this weekend, at best.

Jimmy Garoppolo Puts In Full Practice Thursday

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle) was a full participant in practice on Thursday after he was listed as a limited participant on Wednesday. It remains unknown if his ankle injury is at all related to his surgically repaired left foot, but either way, it doesn't sound like Garoppolo is in danger of missing the Week 2 game in Buffalo against the Bills this Sunday. The 31-year-old signal-caller wasn't great by any means in the Week 1 victory over the Denver Broncos, but he got the job done. This week in a second straight road contest will be more difficult, especially if he's without receiver Jakobi Meyers (concussion), who he connected with on both of touchdown tosses last weekend. Garoppolo should be faded on Sunday as a low-end QB2 in superflex leagues, at best.

Jimmy Garoppolo Limited Wednesday With Ankle Injury

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle) was limited in Wednesday's practice due to an ankle injury that he apparently suffered in the Week 1 victory over the division-rival Denver Broncos on Sunday. It remains to be seen if this ankle injury is related to Garoppolo's previous foot injury from his time with the San Francisco 49ers, but it's something to watch going forward. For now, though, it doesn't seem serious enough for him to be in danger of missing the Week 2 contest in Buffalo this Sunday against the Bills. The bigger issue could be the health of his top two receivers in Davante Adams (foot) and Jakobi Meyers (concussion) in a tough draw against a feisty Bills defense in a hostile environment. Jimmy G is a shaky low-end QB2 option this week in superflex leagues.

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo did just enough on Sunday against the Broncos, completing 20-of-26 passes for 200 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception during the team's 17-16 win. The 31-year-old was sharp in his Raiders debut, completing 77% of his passes including nine-of-10 to WR Jakobi Meyers for 81 yards and two touchdowns. Garoppolo and the Raiders travel to Buffalo in Week 2, the eighth-toughest matchup for opposing fantasy quarterbacks in 2022. Garoppolo is only worth consideration in multi-QB leagues as a high-end QB3 next week.

Jimmy Garoppolo A Low-End Play In Week 1

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo makes his debut for the Silver and Black on Sunday against the Denver Broncos after spending the last six seasons with the 49ers. He joins a Raiders offense that finished 12th in points per game a season ago, propelled by Pro Bowlers WR Davante Adams and RB Josh Jacobs. Injuries are the biggest knock on the 31-year-old, who has missed 30 games over the last five seasons. Garoppolo does not tend to push the ball downfield (ranking 25th among QBs in air yards per attempt last season) and offers the bare minimum on the ground (3.0 rush yards per game average for his career). He is a higher-end QB3 in Week 1 who should only be considered in multi-QB leagues.

Jimmy Garoppolo Restructures Deal With Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders and quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo agreed to restructure his deal on Tuesday, freeing up $17 million in cap space for the 2023 season. Garoppolo joined the Raiders in the offseason, signing a three-year, $72.75 million deal after spending the majority of his career as the San Francisco 49ers' starting QB. The deal was necessary as the Raiders were almost $7 million over the cap for the upcoming season. The veteran signal-caller sets up as a high-end QB3 in fantasy heading in the 2023 campaign.

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo took the field in silver and black for the first time on Saturday in a preseason matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. The 31-year-old completed four-of-four passes for 39 yards while leading his team down the field for an opening drive touchdown. This was Garoppolo's first game action since December 4th when he sustained a season-ending foot injury, and it was a promising indicator of health for a player who has been marred with injuries over his nine-year career. Garoppolo is the unquestioned starter at QB for the Raiders, who look to improve on offense after finishing 17th in offensive DVOA a season ago. He's a low-end QB2 in drafts.

Jimmy Garoppolo Struggling At Camp Recently

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has struggled during training camp, with the signal-caller recently tossing seven picks in consecutive practices. However, head coach Josh McDaniels, who spoke to Vic Tafur of The Athletic, isn't concerned. "We've also seen some very good throws," said McDaniels. "It's a very competitive camp." Without question, Garoppolo's attention throughout the early offseason was spent working his way back from foot surgery, meaning he likely has some residual rust. But considering the veteran hasn't been a consistent producer during his career even when healthy, fantasy managers might consider looking in a different direction for a quarterback, even with Davante Adams as his No. 1 wideout.

Aug 4 · Pro Football Rumors Raiders Jimmy Garoppolo Josh JacobsJimmy Garoppolo Has No Restrictions In Training Camp

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (foot) recently passed his physical, and head coach Josh McDaniels said the veteran QB will have no medical restrictions during training camp. Garoppolo suffered a pedal foot fracture in early December of last year, but he appears to be back to full health just in time for training camp and the 2023 campaign. The team will handle him as they would any player coming in off surgery/injury, but it's a positive sign that he'll be able to be close to a full-go. While Garoppolo's fantasy upside is limited by mediocre mobility, he's a fine QB2 option in superflex and two-QB formats as an accurate passer with a high completion percentage. Davante Adams, Jakobi Meyers, Hunter Renfrow, Austin Hooper, and Michael Mayer are some of his top pass-catching options.

Jimmy Garoppolo Passes Physical

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo passed his physical and is expected to begin training camp. Garoppolo finished last season by throwing for 2,437 yards while accounting for 18 touchdowns in 11 games. Unfortunately, he suffered a left foot injury in December. But after some conflicting information regarding Garoppolo's treatment plan, the Raiders still signed him to replace Derek Carr, although the deal had an out clause in case the signal-caller couldn't suit up. At any rate, the latest update is good news for the Raiders and Garoppolo alike, and it's equally pleasant for Davante Adams and company. However, the veteran still isn't expected to be a top fantasy producer this season.
