  • Raiders Very Happy With Derek Carr

The Las Vegas Raiders don't sound like they're looking to get rid of quarterback Derek Carr this offseason. "I think Derek Carr had his best year yet, under Jon Gruden. I think he's one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL and we couldn't be happier with him," general manager Mike Mayock said Wednesday. The three-time Pro Bowl quarterback's name has come up in trade rumors, but it sounds like the Raiders are content in keeping him around. Las Vegas is more likely to trade backup Marcus Mariota, although his trade market has dried up in recent weeks. Fullback Alec Ingold and star tight end Darren Waller have voiced their support for Carr this week as well. While the 29-year-old did have the best season of his career in 2020, he's still more of a QB2 in fantasy circles.

  • Raiders Considering Dealing Trent Brown

The Las Vegas Raiders have had talks about potentially trading offensive tackle Trent Brown, according to a source. With few quality available tackles in free agency this year, the Raiders could receive some real interest in Brown. "The jury is still out here, he's under contract. We believe in the talent of that player. There would be nothing finer than having Trent Brown protecting Derek Carr in the season opener. But the jury is still out," general manager Mike Mayock said. The 27-year-old would account for a $14 million salary cap hit in 2021 if he remains on the roster, which is second on the team to Carr's $22 million. Brown hasn't performed up to expectations and played in just five games in 2020 due to conditioning issues, injuries and multiple trips to the COVID-19 list. He was limited to 11 games in his first season with the team, although he still earned his first Pro Bowl nod.

  • Derek Carr Likely To Stay, Marcus Mariota Likely Gone?

It's looking more likely that Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr will remain with the team in 2021, while backup Marcus Mariota has been the subject of trade calls. Mariota is due $10 million in the final year of his contract and would probably get a chance to return to a starting gig under center in the NFL if he is dealt to another team. The Raiders remain committed to Carr under head coach Jon Gruden, which is why it's unlikely that Mariota will remain with the black and silver. The 27-year-old Mariota looked really good in relief of an injured Carr against the division-rival Chargers late in the season and he still can make things happen with his legs, but he'd merely be a low-end QB2 if he's traded and winds up starting for another organization in 2021.

  • Raiders Considering Trading Derek Carr?

Teams have been calling the Las Vegas Raiders to gauge interest in trading for quarterback Derek Carr, and the Raiders appear open to considering it in some form or fashion, at least right now and as long as they can replace him with someone on the same level. Teams think that the Raiders are open to dealing either Carr or Marcus Mariota. They guaranteed backup Nathan Peterman $1 million in 2021, which could be a sign they'll part with a QB. Carr threw for a career-high 4,103 yards with 27 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 2020 and was Pro Football Focus' ninth highest-rated signal-caller. The 29-year-old had a solid season for Las Vegas, but he still wasn't much more than a midrange QB2 with occasional streaming appeal in the right matchups. The Raiders have some young and exciting pieces around Carr, but a change of scenery might be in store for him.

Buddy Take We know Jon Gruden is rarely satisfied, particularly with his quarterback, so this comes as no surprise. Swapping out Carr for less than a clear upgrade would be a mistake. Trading Carr and banking on Mariota is a disaster waiting to happen.

  • Derek Carr Throws For 371 Yards

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr threw for 371 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in the season finale against the Broncos. It was another solid season for Carr as it was his second straight season posting a passer rating over 100. However, it was a disappointing finish to the Raiders season. They were poised for a playoff berth at 6-3 until losing five of their last seven games, finishing with an 8-8 record. The Raiders appear to be committed to Carr for the near future as his current contract does not expire until 2023. He will continue to be a good, productive quarterback that limits turnovers, but his fantasy ceiling will be rather low.

  • Derek Carr A QB2 Option In Week 17

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr has QB2 potential in the regular season finale against the Broncos. Carr did not have a great game in his first meeting against the Broncos, but that was largely due to the Raiders defense dominating the game and Carr not needing to throw. The Broncos Defense ranks 22nd against opposing quarterbacks and has just eight interceptions all season. Carr has tallied multiple touchdowns and has thrown for at least 300 yards in each of his last three full games. He is probably not a QB1 option but should have some QB2 value if he attempts an ample number of passes.

  • Las Vegas Reaffirms Derek Carr As Week 17 Starter

Despite having been eliminated from playoff contention, the Las Vegas Raiders have announced Derek Carr as their starting quarterback for Week 17 versus the Broncos. Carr's status was something of a source of speculation due to the groin injury that he sustained in Week 15, where Marcus Mariota looked strong in relief. Carr has missed just two games since joining the league in 2014 and the Raiders' pass-catchers figure to benefit from his presence against Denver. Head coach Jon Gruden did not rule out the possibility of Mariota seeing snaps, making Carr something of a flummoxing DFS option. With 268 passing yards standing between Carr and a third straight year of 4,000-plus passing yards, Las Vegas' signal caller looks to tie a knot around another successful fantasy campaign Sunday.

  • Derek Carr Throws For 336 Yards

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr had a solid performance in his return from injury. He threw for 336 yards and a touchdown on 21 completions and also picked up a rushing touchdown for the third time in his last four games. Not counting last week's injury-shortened game, Carr has three straight games with over 300 passing yards. He has also tallied nine total touchdowns in those three games. It was encouraging to see Carr put together a good game after returning from his groin injury. He will travel to Denver next week in a meaningless game to finish the season.

  • Derek Carr A Low-End QB2 Versus Dolphins

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr does not carry an injury designation heading into a Week 16 matchup against the Dolphins, so all signs point to him being the starter. Carr has been playing well this season, but he probably is not the best fantasy option against a stingy Dolphins Defense. The Dolphins defense has intercepted opposing quarterbacks 16 times on the season and have held them to a passer rating of just 83.9. Carr has done a good job limiting turnovers for most of the season, but he has thrown interceptions in four of his last five games. He is likely just a low-end QB2 in Week 16.

  • Signs Pointing To Derek Carr Starting Against Dolphins

All signs are pointing toward Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr (groin) making the start in Week 16 against the Dolphins on Saturday after he didn't show up on the team's final injury report on Thursday. However, head coach Jon Gruden said that he's "not going to let the cat out of the bag" regarding whether Carr will play. Carr got in some full practices this week and Gruden said he's "optimistic" about Carr being active. Even though backup Marcus Mariota replaced Carr last Thursday against the Chargers and looked great, Carr is expected to start this weekend after a miraculous recovery from what looked like a pretty serious groin strain. But with Carr facing a tough Dolphins Defense and at an increased risk of re-injury, he should be avoided in single-QB leagues during championship week.

  • Derek Carr Hasn't Been Named The Starter

Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jon Gruden is "optimistic" that quarterback Derek Carr (groin) will be active in Week 16 against the Dolphins on Saturday, but Gruden wouldn't name the starting QB against Miami. Carr suffered a strained groin last Thursday and was removed from the final Week 16 injury report, but backup Marcus Mariota remains in play to get the start. Carr was limited in practice Tuesday but practiced in full Wednesday and Thursday while splitting repetitions with Mariota. Mariota ran for a game-high 88 yards and a touchdown and threw for two touchdowns after replacing Carr last week. The 29-year-old Carr has made a miraculous recovery in a week, but he'll be a highly volatile low-end QB2 on Saturday if he plays. The Dolphins Defense has also been one of the best in the league at limiting signal-callers in recent weeks, too.

  • Derek Carr Good To Go For Week 16

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr (groin) was not listed on the team's final injury report on Thursday for Week 16 against the Dolphins on Saturday night. This comes as a pretty big surprise after Carr suffered a significant groin strain in last Thursday's loss to the Chargers. He was expected to miss time, but Carr is now expected to start this weekend in a must-win game for Las Vegas. Those hoping to see Marcus Mariota make his first start in a Raiders uniform will have to wait. It's good news for the Raiders pass-catchers, especially tight end Darren Waller, but Carr will be an extremely shaky QB2 at risk of re-injury on Saturday. Miami's defense has also been tough against signal-callers of late, allowing the fourth-fewest fantasy points per game to QBs in the last five weeks, including just three passing scores. With fantasy titles on the line, Carr should only be started in superflex leagues.

Dec 24 · Source via Raiders Derek Carr
  • Derek Carr Practices In Full Wednesday

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr (groin) was able to practice in full on Wednesday. This is a bit surprising after Carr suffered a significant groin strain in last Thursday's loss to the Chargers. Carr and backup Marcus Mariota have received repetitions in practice so far this week, so the Raiders likely won't make a decision until later in the week on who their starter will be against the Dolphins in Week 16 on Saturday. Mariota looked good while replacing Carr last week against the Bolts, but Miami's defense has allowed the fourth-fewest fantasy points per game to signal-callers in the last five weeks. Carr looks to be making good progress, but we still find it unlikely that he'll make the start this weekend. Whoever is under center for the Raiders won't be a recommended fantasy starter in leagues that use just one QB.

Dec 23 · Source via Raiders Derek Carr
  • Derek Carr May Be Done For Final Two Games

Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jon Gruden said that quarterback Derek Carr (groin) didn't suffer a tear in the Thursday night loss to the Chargers, but the coach described the injury as a significant groin pull. Carr will undergo an MRI exam on Friday, but there is a chance that we've seen the last of him for the 2020 season. Fantasy managers shouldn't be holding out hope that they'll have Carr available for either of the next two weeks, even with the Raiders having a little extra time before their Week 16 date with the Dolphins. Marcus Mariota replaced Carr against the Chargers and didn't look terrible, going 17-for-28 for 226 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He also ran the ball nine times for 88 yards and a score. Mariota would be nothing more than a low-end QB2 in superflex leagues, though, if he starts against Miami next week.

  • Derek Carr A QB2 Versus Chargers

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr has QB2 value this week against the Chargers. The Chargers Defense has not been great against the pass this season, ranking 21st against opposing quarterbacks and allowing 26 passing touchdowns on the season. Carr has struggled a bit with interceptions lately with five over his last four games. However, he has thrown the ball at least 40 times in each of the last two games, so the high amount of pass attempts gives him QB2 value. Carr has not been as efficient as he was early in the season, but he is still having a career year with a passer rating of 102.1. He lacks QB1 value, but look for him to have a good outing against the Chargers.

  • Derek Carr Records Three Total Touchdowns

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr did not have his best performance against the Colts but still managed to throw for two touchdowns and rush for one. Carr had 316 yards on 45 attempts and threw two interceptions. His one interception was a bit unlucky as it deflected off Jalen Richard's hands, but this now marks five interceptions over the last four games for Carr. The encouraging thing is that he has now thrown for over 300 yards in back-to-back games, so he is putting up solid QB2 numbers. He has an opportunity to build on this next week in a divisional matchup against the Chargers.

  • Derek Carr Has Difficult Week 14 Matchup

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr played well against the Jets last week, but things will be more difficult in Week 14 against a stout Colts Defense. Despite ranking just 16th against opposing quarterbacks, the Colts defense has only allowed 15 passing touchdowns all season, which ranks third-least in the NFL. They have also forced 13 interceptions, and Derek Carr has been prone to some interceptions as of late with three over his last three games. Carr is having the best statistical year of his career regarding passer rating and QBR but is likely just a QB2 against the Colts this week.

  • Derek Carr Tallies Four Total Touchdowns

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr had an impressive stat-line in a Week 13 win against the Jets. He threw for 381 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. He also picked up a rushing touchdown. This was a nice bounce-back performance for Carr after struggling against the Falcons last week. His 47 pass attempts was the most he has thrown all season, so he proved he can put up volume stats when forced to throw. This is more the exception than the rule for Carr as he averages only 31 pass attempts and 240 yards per game. He will look for another good performance next week against a stingy Colts Defense.
