  • Jordan Reed Could Miss 6-8 Weeks

San Francisco 49ers tight end Jordan Reed (knee) left Sunday's game against the New York Giants after injuring his knee on an end-zone target. According to head coach Kyle Shanahan, Reed has a significant knee sprain that could keep him out between six and eight weeks. This is awful news for Reed, who has struggled with injuries throughout his career. He can be dropped in the majority of fantasy leagues at this point. Hopefully he'll be able to progress through the injury and return later in the year. George Kittle (knee) has missed the last two weeks with a knee injury of his own, which has put Reed firmly on the streaming radar at tight end.

  • Jordan Reed Catches Two Passes Before Injury

San Francisco 49ers tight end Jordan Reed (ankle) left the team's Week 3 game against the New York Giants in the first quarter after injuring his ankle. He didn't return in the game. Reed was targeted six times before the injury, catching two passes for 23 yards. George Kittle (knee) should be returning to action soon, maybe as soon as Week 4, which would make Reed tough to trust in fantasy even if he does make a quick recovery.

  • Jordan Reed Goes Down With Ankle Injury

San Francisco 49ers tight end Jordan Reed fell awkwardly in the back of the end zone in the first half of Sunday's game against the New York Jets. It appeared that Reed suffered a left ankle injury. The MetLife Stadium turf took a toll on the 49ers last week when they faced the Jets, and it appears the trend is continuing. If Reed ends up missing time, expect Ross Dwelley to work as the primary backup tight end to George Kittle, who isn't playing in this week's game after he was hurt at this stadium last week.

  • Jordan Reed Is Start-Worthy If George Kittle Remains Out

San Francisco 49ers tight end Jordan Reed was the focal point of the team's passing game in Week 2. Reed caught a team-high seven passes on eight targets for 50 yards and two touchdowns. The team's No. 1 tight end George Kittle (knee) returned to practice on a limited basis this week and is currently questionable to play in Week 3. If Kittle plays, Reed is a risky start and probably best to avoid. If Kittle sits again, Reed is a solid low-end starting tight end option. The team's starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle) is questionable for the game and if backup Nick Mullens gets the start, all 49ers pass-catchers figure to have a tougher time producing. Don't count on a repeat of Week 2 from Reed if Kittle sits and Mullens is under center, but he should still see enough targets to warrant starting.

  • Jordan Reed Scores Two Touchdowns In Week 2

San Francisco 49ers tight end Jordan Reed was the top target for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle) in Week 2 against the New York Jets. He caught seven of his team-high eight targets for 50 yards and two touchdowns in the game. Garoppolo left the game after the first half with an ankle injury, otherwise Reed may have had an even bigger game. Reed was filling in as the team's primary tight end with George Kittle (knee) on the sidelines. It was unclear how big of a role Reed would play in Kittle's absence, but now we know what Reed can do in this offense if given the opportunity. If Kittle is out again in Week 3, Reed will certainly be a solid TE1 option.

  • Jordan Reed Considered Retirement

San Francisco 49ers tight end Jordan Reed admitted that he considered retirement before signing with the team earlier this month. A part of his reason to join the Niners was the desire to reach the Super Bowl and play in the big game. The talented tight end has dealt with many injuries throughout his six-year NFL career, including not playing at all in 2019 with Washington due to a concussion. When able to play close to a full season, Reed has shown incredible potential, as evidence of his 2015 season with Washington where he accumulated 87 receptions, 114 targets, 952 yards, and 11 touchdowns. The 30-year-old will play a backup role to George Kittle this season.

  • Jordan Reed Draws Attention In First 49ers Practice

San Francisco 49ers tight end Jordan Reed made his first appearance on the practice field on Tuesday and was showing solid pass-catching and route-running skills. Reed signed with the 49ers on August 9 and had been sitting out practice as he eased back into football activities. Reed missed the entirety of the 2019 season after a suffering a concussion in the preseason. This year, Reed is reuniting with 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan, who was Reed's offensive coordinator his rookie year in Washington. There's little fantasy upside for Reed as long as the team's starting tight end George Kittle is healthy, but it's a no doubt good to see the oft-injured Reed back on the field and making plays. If nothing else, Reed could provide for extra veteran support for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.
