  • Rex Burkhead Injured In Loss To Miami

Houston Texans running back Rex Burkhead (head) exited Sunday's meeting with the Miami Dolphins to receive a concussion evaluation. He did not return. The journeyman finished with only one catch for five yards, which isn't surprising considering he hasn't been involved the entire season. Nevertheless, there should be an update on his condition soon, but it shouldn't impact many fantasy managers either way.

  • Rex Burkhead Catches Touchdown In Week 4

Houston Texans running back Rex Burkhead was targeted five times in Sunday's loss to the Chargers, catching all five passes for 39 yards and a touchdown. But Burkhead didn't see a single touch in the run game, as all 14 carries for the team went to Dameon Pierce. Burkhead's receiving work would make him a potential dart throw in deep leagues if it was accompanied with just a little bit of rushing work, but Burkhead now has a total of three carries over the last three games. This is Dameon Pierce's backfield. For now, all Burkhead is doing is taking targets away from players who might otherwise have more upside.

  • Rex Burkhead Quiet Against Bears

Houston Texans running back Rex Burkhead has seen his role with the Texans fall off since the start of the season. On Sunday against the Bears, Burkhead had just three carries, finishing with nine rushing yards. He was targeted five times, hauling in four catches for 21 yards, so it's not like Burkhead didn't have a role at all, but his limited number of touches keeps him from having fantasy relevance right now.

  • Rex Burkhead's Week 3 Outlook For Fantasy Football

Houston Texans running back Rex Burkhead looked like Houston's No. 1 back in Week 1 against the Colts, when he carried the ball 14 times. But last week, Burkhead had zero carries against the Broncos, though he did have a pair of receptions for nine yards. Burkhead was a popular waiver add after Week 1, but last week's showing suggests that he shouldn't be on your fantasy radar when Houston plays the Bears on Sunday.

  • Dameon Pierce Sees Increased Role In Week 2

Houston Texans rookie running back Dameon Pierce was a popular preseason sleeper, but his role in Week 1 against the Colts really stymied that hype when he took a back seat to Rex Burkhead. That trend took a major shift in Week 2's loss to the Broncos, though, as Pierce ended up being the only running back on the team with a carry. Pierce ended the day with 15 carries for 69 yards, plus one catch for eight yards. This was the game that everyone hoped he'd have last week. Now the question is how to weigh the two weeks. Consider him an RB4 play for now but with the upside to do more.

  • Rex Burkhead's Week 2 Outlook For Fantasy Football

Houston Texans running back Rex Burkhead appears to be the team's lead back heading into their Week 2 matchup with the Broncos. Burkhead had three more carries than Dameon Pierce last week, as well as seven more targets than the rookie. Burkhead could have some appeal in deep PPR leagues as a flex play, but the Texans run game is unlikely to find much room against this Broncos defense.

  • Rex Burkhead A Risky Week 1 Play

Houston Texans running back Rex Burkhead could see a lot of work in the passing game this season, but there's too much uncertainty around the veteran running back for him to be in fantasy lineups in Week 1. The Colts were a strong run defense last year, which could theoretically boost Burkhead over teammate Dameon Pierce due to pass-game usage. But that's a fairly big "if" and at this point, fantasy managers likely have a safer option than Burkhead, who rates as an RB5/6-type player this week.
