  • Falcons To Use Bijan Robinson, Cordarrelle Patterson In Passing Game

    Headshot for Tyler Allgeier

The addition of Bijan Robinson to the Falcons’ backfield is expected to boost what was already a productive rushing attack in 2022. It is also likely to yield a change in Atlanta’s deployment of some of their running backs, however. The Falcons are planning to use Robinson, this year’s No. 8 pick, in a role not exclusively […]

  • Desmond Ridder's Accuracy In Question?

    Headshot for Desmond Ridder

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder's accuracy was in question after Wednesday's practice at organized team activities, but as The Athletic's Josh Kendall pointed out, it's still very early in the offseason. The knock on Ridder coming out of Cincinnati was his accuracy, so it's certainly something to keep an eye on as he heads into his second NFL season. "He's still young. He's going to go through growing pains," first-year Falcons defensive end Calais Campbell said. Ridder was 26th in 2022 in completion percentage (63.5%) among QBs with 100-plus pass attempts. The 23-year-old has taken on more of a leadership role as the starting QB this offseason. Ridder has clear upside, but he should be drafted as a QB2 in fantasy.

  • Desmond Ridder Surrounded With Better Weapons

    Headshot for Desmond Ridder

The Atlanta Falcons have bolstered their offensive skill positions entering the 2023 season after two years of salary cap issues. Their offense is expected to be more balanced than the run-heavy approach they had last year, with the focus on tight ends Kyle Pitts and Jonnu Smith, wide receiver Drake London and running backs Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier. The Falcons are setting up second-year quarterback Desmond Ridder for success with a plethora of options around him on offense. Aside from Smith, Mack Hollins, Scotty Miller and Cordarrelle Patterson, all of the players are still on rookie contracts as well. Ridder acquitted himself well in his rookie season when he took over as the starter late in the year, and he has the weapons to take another leap forward in 2023.

  • C.J. Stroud Visiting With Falcons Wednesday

    Headshot for Desmond Ridder

The Atlanta Falcons are hosting Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud for a visit on Wednesday. The Falcons have the No. 8 overall pick in this year's NFL draft next Thursday night. Now that Alabama QB Bryce Young is the overwhelming favorite to go first overall to the Carolina Panthers, it has become plausible that Stroud could still be available for the Falcons when they make their pick at eighth overall. Reports have also surfaced that the Houston Texans aren't high on Stroud at No. 2 overall. Still, Stroud isn't expected to be available to Atlanta with the No. 8 pick after being named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year in both of his seasons with the Buckeyes. The Falcons are also comfortable with Desmond Ridder under center in 2023, so they aren't desperate to take a QB in the top 10.

  • Falcons Draft Needs

    Headshot for Brian Branch

The Atlanta Falcons are taking a serious look at the quarterbacks in this year's draft class, but the team is comfortable with 2022 third-rounder Desmond Ridder under center, according to sources close to the team. Atlanta would need a "dream scenario" to take one of the QBs in the top 10 later this month. ESPN's Matt Miller thinks it would have to be Alabama's Bryce Young or Ohio State's C.J. Stroud, and neither signal-caller is expected to be available at No. 8 overall, where the Falcons pick. The Falcons could attack wide receiver and safety on Day 2 of the draft. The team could use Alabama safety Brian Branch, who is ranked as the top safety in this year's class.

  • Falcons HC Arthur Smith Addresses Commitment To Desmond Ridder, Lamar Jackson Interest

    Headshot for Lamar Jackson

For weeks, teams around the league have had the option of making an aggressive pursuit of Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, since he was issued the non-exclusive franchise tag. Very little interest has emerged regarding either an offer sheet or a tag-and-trade, however, including from the Falcons, a team many pointed to as a potential landing spot. […]
