  • Lamar Jackson Expects To Run Less In 2023

    Headshot for Lamar Jackson

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson talked quite a bit with the media on Wednesday at organized team activities about throwing more and running less in 2023 in offensive coordinator Todd Monken's new offensive scheme. Monken already hinted at the same thing earlier this offseason, and it makes sense given that Jackson has missed important games down the stretch in each of the last two seasons due to lower-body injuries. The 26-year-old signed a five-year, $260 million contract extension just before this year's NFL draft and will remain in Baltimore for the foreseeable future, where his elite dual-threat playmaking abilities will keep him as a top-five fantasy QB, even if he has fewer designed runs.

  • Lamar Jackson Reports To Day 2 Of OTAs

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has reported to Day 2 of organized team activities on Tuesday after he did not attend the first day on Monday, according to The Athletic's Jeff Zrebiec. With the Ravens implementing a new offensive scheme this year under offensive coordinator Todd Monken, it's a great sign that Jackson is present in order to get to work with the rest of his teammates. Right before this year's NFL draft, Baltimore and Jackson worked out a five-year contract extension worth $260 million ($185 million guaranteed) to make him the league's highest-paid player. The 26-year-old dual-threat QB might not have as many designed runs in this new offense, but he's still one of the most dynamic signal-callers in the league and should definitely be considered a top-five fantasy QB heading into 2023.

  • Lamar Jackson Expected To Take Part In OTAs This Week

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson didn't attend the team's first of 10 organized team activity practices on Monday, but the Ravens are expecting him to be there for practices this week, according to multiple reports. The practices are voluntary until mandatory minicamp next month, but the team is also implementing a new offensive scheme under offensive coordinator Todd Monken. Jackson recently signed a five-year, $260 million contract extension that includes $185 million guaranteed, making him the league's highest-paid player. Baltimore has given Jackson more playmakers at the receiver position as well, so the Ravens aren't expected to be as reliant on the run in 2023. Despite injury concerns, the 26-year-old dual-threat signal-caller is an elite fantasy option at his position.

  • Ravens Hope To Use Lamar Jackson Less In Rushing Game

Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken was asked if quarterback Lamar Jackson could see his rushing usage come down in 2023. "The more talented you are around your quarterback, the less he has to take on that burden," Monken said. "As Lamar gets older, you want to take some of that (rushing) off the player, but he has a unique trait. You can't take that completely out of his toolbox because that's a huge weapon for him and for us." That said, Jackson will still likely see plenty of designed runs, but the team hopes its weapons including Mark Andrews, Rashod Bateman, Odell Beckham Jr., and Zay Flowers will raise the passing ceiling of the offense and preserve Jackson's legs as he enters his sixth NFL season.
