  • Budda Baker Missing From Cardinals OTAs

    Headshot for Budda Baker

Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker missed the first day of organized team activities but shared images of himself working out on his Instagram account. After the Cardinals refused Baker's request for a contract extension that would have made him the highest-paid safety in the league, Baker demanded a trade in April. The Cardinals have also said they will not trade him. The five-time Pro Bowler made 111 combined tackles, two interceptions, seven pass defenses, and one forced fumble in 15 games last season and finished as the DB15 in RotoBaller IDP scoring. He was the 19th-best safety in terms of PFF grade.

  • Calvin Ridley Impresses at First OTAs Since Being Reinstated

    Headshot for Calvin Ridley

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Calvin Ridley looked good on the Jags' first day of organized team activities. Offensive coordinator Press Taylor said, "I've been really impressed with Calvin. I've watched every snap Calvin's played in the NFL, just like a lot of our guys have. So we're very confident in the player we're getting." The Jaguars tweeted a video of Ridley moving his feet quickly in an agility ladder drill with the comment, "Slow feet, don't eat." Ridley caught 31 passes for 281 yards and two touchdowns in five games with the Falcons in 2021, his last season of NFL action, but he was impacted by mental health issues that season. In 2020, which was his last full season, he caught 90 passes for 1,374 yards and nine touchdowns.

  • DeAndre Hopkins Remains Away From Team

    Headshot for DeAndre Hopkins

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins remains away from the team for the start of organized team activities on Monday. Hopkins continues to work out on his own and remains in contact with teammates. "Phoenix is home," Hopkins said. "It's where I have been the last three years. Working out there, there's no emphasis other than that's where I live. It's not me going on a campaign. It's just me working out." The 30-year-old veteran has been the subject of plenty of trade rumors this offseason, but his contract has dissuaded interested teams from pursuing him aggressively. With quarterback Kyler Murray (knee) potentially not ready until around midseason in 2023, a trade out of Arizona would probably be the best thing for his current declining fantasy value.

  • Austin Ekeler Expected To Be Present For Mandatory Minicamp

    Headshot for Austin Ekeler

Los Angeles Chargers head coach Brandon Staley said his expectation is that running back Austin Ekeler will be present for the team's mandatory minicamp. Ekeler, who wants a new contract extension and has been allowed to seek a trade, wasn't at the first day of voluntary organized team activities on Monday. The 28-year-old do-it-all back is unlikely to report for OTAs, but he's expected to be at mandatory minicamp, and it's becoming increasingly likely that he'll stick around for at least one more year in LA before testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent. If Ekeler does remain with the Bolts in 2023, he should continue to be a high-end RB1 for fantasy managers, especially in PPR formats.

  • Rashod Bateman Practicing This Week

    Headshot for Rashod Bateman

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman (foot) joined the team on Monday for the first practice of organized team activities. He will likely be eased back in training camp this summer, but it's a good sign that he's already back on the field learning the new offense under offensive coordinator Todd Monken. The third-year wideout has made steady progress since Lisfranc foot surgery last November ended his 2022 season after only six games. The 23-year-old averaged 19.0 yards per catch last year on 15 receptions for 285 yards and two touchdowns. The former first-rounder has had his issues with injuries, but Bateman has shown big-play potential when healthy. The Ravens have a few more capable receivers around him in 2023, but Bateman still figures to be quarterback Lamar Jackson's top target.

  • Lamar Jackson Expected To Take Part In OTAs This Week

    Headshot for Lamar Jackson

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson didn't attend the team's first of 10 organized team activity practices on Monday, but the Ravens are expecting him to be there for practices this week, according to multiple reports. The practices are voluntary until mandatory minicamp next month, but the team is also implementing a new offensive scheme under offensive coordinator Todd Monken. Jackson recently signed a five-year, $260 million contract extension that includes $185 million guaranteed, making him the league's highest-paid player. Baltimore has given Jackson more playmakers at the receiver position as well, so the Ravens aren't expected to be as reliant on the run in 2023. Despite injury concerns, the 26-year-old dual-threat signal-caller is an elite fantasy option at his position.

  • J.J. Arcega-Whiteside Inks Deal With Falcons

    Headshot for J.J. Arcega-Whiteside

Former Philadelphia Eagles and Seattle Seahawks wide receiver J.J. Arcega-Whiteside has agreed to sign with the Atlanta Falcons. Arcega-Whiteside tried out for the team last week, so he evidently did well enough to get the opportunity. The former second-round pick transitioned to tight end last offseason before joining the Seattle Seahawks, but ultimately did not play a snap for the team. It's unclear whether he will play wideout or tight end this offseason, but the team's official site listed him as a wide receiver. The 26-year-old only has 16 receptions for 190 yards and one touchdown after four years in the league, so there's a low chance he's on the fantasy radar even if he does make the team's 53-man roster.

  • Texans Sign Jacob Martin To One-Year Deal

The Houston Texans signed free-agent pass-rusher Jacob Martin to an undisclosed one-year deal last week, according to a source. Martin played on the edge for the Texans from 2019 to 2021 before landing with the New York Jets and Denver Broncos last year. The 27-year-old linebacker recorded only 14 tackles (seven solo), 2.5 sacks, five QB hits and a forced fumble in 13 combined games (zero starts) in New York and Denver in 2022. The former sixth-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks in 2018 will return to Houston to give them pass-rushing depth. In his five years in the NFL to this point, Martin has 78 total tackles (45 solo), 16 sacks, 15 tackles for loss, 29 QB hits, four passes defensed, seven forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries in 74 games played (15 starts).

  • Garrett Williams Signs Rookie Deal

The Arizona Cardinals signed cornerback Garrett Williams to a four-year rookie deal last Thursday. The team also added undrafted rookie wide receiver Brian Cobbs on an undisclosed deal. Williams was selected in the third round of this year's NFL draft (No. 72 overall) out of the University of Syracuse. He played in only seven games in his final collegiate season due to a torn ACL in his knee. Williams continues to recover from the injury, and the Cardinals are targeting a July return. Cobbs heads to the next level after leading Utah State in 2022 in catches (76) and receiving yards (923) while tying for the team lead in touchdowns with five. In four years at Maryland before joining Utah State, he had 59 catches for 858 yards and two touchdowns.

  • Hayden Hurst Recovering From Sports-Hernia Surgery

    Headshot for Hayden Hurst

Carolina Panthers tight end Hayden Hurst (hernia) is recovering from sports-hernia surgery this offseason and wasn't at the team's first few open offseason workouts. There isn't a specific timetable for Hurst's return, but it doesn't sound like something that will jeopardize his availability for the start of the 2023 regular season. The 29-year-old was inked to a three-year deal earlier this offseason and figures to be a prominent aerial weapon for rookie first-round quarterback Bryce Young this year. In 13 starts for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2022, Hurst had 52 catches for 414 yards and two touchdowns. He's never had more than 56 catches, 571 yards or six TDs in a single season, though, so he'll remain more of a low-end TE2 in fantasy.

  • Raiders Sign Greg Van Roten

The Las Vegas Raiders signed veteran free-agent offensive guard Greg Van Roten to an undisclosed deal last week. Van Roten will join the Raider in 2023 after spending the 2022 season with the Buffalo Bills, where he played in 16 games and made four starts at center. Van Roten has the ability to play center, left guard and right guard, so he'll give the Raiders some flexibility and depth along their offensive line this year. The former undrafted free agent out of Pennsylvania played the first two seasons of his NFL career with the Green Bay Packers before also spending time with the Carolina Panthers and New York Jets. In his eight NFL campaigns, the 33-year-old offensive lineman has played in 93 games (54 starts).

  • Patriots Release Yodny Cajuste

The New England Patriots released offensive lineman Yodny Cajuste last week. Cajuste was originally taken in the third round (101st overall) in 2019 by New England out of the University of West Virginia. The 27-year-old has only played in two NFL seasons (2021 and 2022) after missing his first two years in the league due to injury. The 6-foot-5, 310-pounder played in seven games and made two starts at right tackle in 2021. Last year, Cajuste played in 10 games for the Patriots and made three starts at right tackle. He will now look to catch on with another organization as offensive-line depth.

  • Ty Johnson Dealing With Torn Pectoral Muscle

    Headshot for Ty Johnson

Former New York Jets running back Ty Johnson (pectoral) revealed on his personal Instagram account that he was released last month with a non-football injury designation due to a torn pectoral muscle that he suffered while working out on his own. Johnson underwent surgery on the advice of a Jets doctor and was released shortly thereafter. The 25-year-old may have to wait a while before a team feels comfortable signing him after a pretty serious injury. The 25-year-old running back had a career-low 30 carries for 160 yards and a touchdown and also caught 12 passes for 88 yards in 17 games (one start) for the Jets last year. The former sixth-round pick of the Detroit Lions in 2019 should eventually latch on elsewhere once he's back to full health.

  • Trey Lance Has Made "Substantial Jumps" This Offseason

    Headshot for Trey Lance

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan, general manager John Lynch and private quarterbacks coach Jeff Christensen think that quarterback Trey Lance is throwing the ball more efficiently than he was last spring. Christensen said Lance's biggest breakthrough came when he stood behind Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and watched him throw. The former No. 3 overall pick in 2021, Lance has completed just 54.9% of his passes in his first two NFL seasons over four starts. Brock Purdy (elbow) is expected to be the team's starter in 2023 if he's healthy, but he's currently recovering, so Lance and Sam Darnold will see reps in spring practices. Injuries have played a big role in Lance's delivery, but he's fully healthy now and is looking to make things interesting in training camp this summer.

  • Josh Johnson Returns To Ravens

    Headshot for Josh Johnson

Free-agent quarterback Josh Johnson, who has played for an NFL-record 14 teams, has signed with the Baltimore Ravens on Monday for the third time in his career, according to a source. Johnson was with the Ravens in 2016, 2021 and now again in 2023. The 37-year-old journeyman entered the NFC Championship game for the San Francisco 49ers against the Philadelphia Eagles when Brock Purdy injured his elbow, but Johnson was also forced to leave early with a concussion. In 10 NFL seasons, Johnson has completed 58 percent of his pass attempts for 2,280 yards, 13 touchdowns and 16 interceptions in 39 games (nine starts). He figures to be the third-stringer in Baltimore behind Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley.

  • Kendre Miller Misses Rookie OTAs

    Headshot for Kendre Miller

New Orleans Saints running back Kendre Miller (knee) was unable to participate in rookie OTAs. This is unsurprising news considering Miller tore his meniscus in January. The TCU product hasn't been cleared for rookie workouts. Despite the injury, New Orleans decided to select Miller in the third round of this year's draft. The 20-year-old rushed for 1,399 yards and 17 touchdowns with TCU last season. The expectation is that Miller is going to be able to carve out a legitimate role alongside Alvin Kamara. It remains to be seen how the Saints decide to split up playing time. Regardless, Miller is expected to be 100 percent healthy by the time the preseason rolls around.

  • Sean Clifford Will Get Chance At No. 2 Job

Green Bay Packers quarterback Sean Clifford will have a chance to earn the No. 2 job behind Jordan Love to begin the season. Packers GM Brian Gutekunst said Danny Etling and Clifford will both get a chance to earn the spot in camp. The organization wants to see what they have in these young players before they consider bringing in a veteran quarterback. Etling is a former Patriots wide receiver, while Clifford was drafted in the fifth-round out of Penn State during this year's draft. These two players could be the fall back plans if Love doesn't pan out this upcoming season. On paper, neither player offers much upside, so fantasy managers probably shouldn't bother trying to slash Etling or Clifford.

  • Josh Downs Impressing The Colts

    Headshot for Josh Downs

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs has been receiving high praise from Colts wide receiver coach Reggie Wayne. "He's the player I think we were missing, A guy who's agile, who's versatile who can win on the option routes. I think he's the right fit for us," says Wayne. The expectation is that Downs is going to compete with Isaiah McKenzie for the starting slot role during camp. The Colts clearly think highly of Downs considering they selected him in the third round. That being said, Downs could end up being an impactful player on this offense from Day 1. The 21-year-old is worth a stash in dynasty leagues as he could very well find himself with a big role on this offense.

  • Tank Bigsby Could Be No. 2 Back

    Headshot for Tank Bigsby

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Tank Bigsby should have the inside track to the No. 2 job in the backfield, according to John Shipley. The rookie back was reportedly impressing the team during OTAs last week. The Jags selected Bigsby in the third round of this year's NFL Draft. The Auburn product could very well earn his way up the depth chart quickly in Jacksonville. His main competition is D'Ernest Johnson and JaMycal Henry with Travis Etienne set to be the lead back. Bigsby could very well have an impactful role in the offense by the time Week 1 rolls around. He's someone worth keeping an eye on as draft seasons creeps up.

  • Ty Montgomery Could Be Third-Down Back

    Headshot for Ty Montgomery

New England Patriots running back Ty Montgomery has a great chance at being the third-down back, according to former Patriots RB coach Ivan Fears. If healthy, Montgomery can be a reliable option in the backfield. Sadly, Montgomery has experienced problems staying healthy as he's only played in 21 games over the last three seasons. He has bounced around quite a bit since his three and a half seasons in Green Bay. The Patriots do need someone to help take some of the load off Rhamondre Stevenson. In theory, Montgomery could be an interesting option, but staying on the field has been the biggest problem for him.

  • Aaron Jones "Hasn't Missed A Beat"

    Headshot for Aaron Jones

According to Packers running backs coach Ben Sirmans, Aaron Jones "hasn't missed a beat," a statement he made during a recent practice session. "He's still going as fast and hard as anybody out there," Sirmans said. "He's flying around faster than anybody in that room." Jones is entering his seventh year after finishing 2022 with another 1,000-yard-plus rushing season, adding seven total touchdowns. It could be an adjustment period for the 28-year-old, as he'll no longer have Aaron Rodgers under center. However, there's no denying his massive upside. Jones' ability to catch passes is an added perk for PPR managers.

  • Kareem Hunt Not Expected To Return To Browns

    Headshot for Kareem Hunt

According to NFL Analyst Tony Grossi, the Browns aren't expected to bring back running back Kareem Hunt. Early in the offseason, general manager Andrew Berry didn't rule out the possibility of a return. However, it doesn't seem like it will happen, even with the Browns not addressing the backfield situation behind Nick Chubb. Hunt's production has dwindled over the years, recently finishing the 2022 campaign with only four total touchdowns, one of the lowest marks of his career. While the veteran could find a new team heading into training camp, he'll need consistent involvement to be a factor for fantasy managers.

  • DeAndre Hopkins' Contract Keeping Him In Arizona

    Headshot for DeAndre Hopkins

According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins "seems intent on making the $19.45 million he's due." While there's no doubt the multi-time Pro Bowler has plenty of talent, teams around the National Football League aren't looking to take on such a contract. Of course, that could change sometime down the line, especially if a team becomes desperate. But for now, Hopkins will remain a Cardinal. However, his fantasy outlook isn't as bright as in previous years, primarily because Kyler Murray (knee) likely won't be ready to go by Week 1 after tearing his ACL in 2022.

  • Darnell Mooney Expects To Be Ready For Week 1

    Headshot for Darnell Mooney

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney (ankle) reported he expects to be ready for the start of the 2023 campaign. The 25-year-old had a breakout season in 2021, amassing 81 catches for 1,055 yards and five total touchdowns. However, he took a step backward last season by compiling just 40 receptions for 493 yards and two scores. Even worse, he was limited to only 12 games before fracturing his ankle, which resulted in surgery. Although Chicago added DJ Moore, Mooney may benefit. The wideout could be an even bigger fantasy asset if Justin Fields improves as a passer.

  • Chris Harris Jr. Wants To Sign With A Contender

    Headshot for Chris Harris

Free-agent cornerback Chris Harris Jr. intends to remain unsigned, with the former Pro Bowler planning to sign with a Super Bowl-contending team. He was in the same boat last offseason. However, Harris signed with the Saints in October 2022 and finished the season with 29 tackles (10 games). The veteran may stay a free agent through training camp. But the 33-year-old likely won't receive interest from IDP managers, considering his best days are behind him.

  • William Jackson III Feeling "Great"

    Headshot for William Jackson III

Free-agent cornerback William Jackson III (back) reported he's received interest from several NFL teams. The veteran also stated he's "100%" after suffering a back injury last season. "I'm great," said Jackson while speaking to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2. "Just a minor setback for a major comeback." Jackson signed a three-year, $42 million deal with Washington in 2021. Unfortunately, he's coming off a rough 2022 campaign, appearing in only four games for the Commanders before being traded to Pittsburgh ahead of the deadline. However, the 30-year-old never played a game with the Steelers because of the back injury and was released in March 2023. Nonetheless, Jackson could find himself a new team heading into training camp. But he isn't expected to offer much of anything to IDP managers, no matter where he lands next.

  • Jadeveon Clowney Open To Returning To Houston

    Headshot for Jadeveon Clowney

Free-agent linebacker Jadeveon Clowney remains unsigned after the Browns released him in March. The veteran should have no trouble finding a new team. However, while speaking with Fox 26 Houston's Mark Berman, he didn't rule out returning to the Texans, where he began his career in 2014. "It'd be nice," Clowney stated. "I'm a big fan of their new head coach." The former No. 1 overall is coming off a miserable year. But Clowney, who currently resides in Houston, could provide valuable guidance to a young squad. That said, his days as a serviceable IDP option are probably over.

  • Deonte Banks Agrees To Contract With Giants

    Headshot for Deonte Banks

On Friday, the Giants signed cornerback Deonte Banks to a four-year, $13.6 million, fully guaranteed contract. After playing at Maryland, the rookie was selected in the first round, No. 24 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. In his four seasons as a Terrapin, he totaled 61 tackles and two interceptions. However, Banks' experience should get him on the field plenty this season, potentially even starting immediately opposite Adoree' Jackson.

  • Felix Anudike-Uzomah Officially Signs With Chiefs

    Headshot for Felix Anudike-Uzomah

On Friday, rookie defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah signed a four-year, nearly $12 million deal with Kansas City. The 21-year-old was the last pick in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He spent three seasons at Kansas State, where he amassed 20.5 sacks and eight forced fumbles during his collegiate career. The former Wildcat underwent thumb surgery before the draft. However, he should be ready to roll for the Thursday night, Week 1 meeting with the Detroit Lions. The rookie also has a chance to see playing time right off the bat, so IDP dynasty managers should take notice.

  • Ty Johnson Underwent Surgery This Offseason

    Headshot for Ty Johnson

Free-agent running back Ty Johnson (pectoral) posted a video to his Instagram account on Friday, revealing he underwent surgery this offseason. The 2019 sixth-round pick was re-signed by the Jets in March. However, after suffering a pec tear while working out, the team released him with a non-football injury designation. Johnson finished last season by appearing in all 17 games for New York, amassing 160 yards off 30 carries while adding 12 catches for 88 yards. It's unknown how long he'll need to rehab. But Johnson will have to find a new club before he draws any consideration from fantasy managers.

  • Joe Burrow "Knows What He Wants"

    Headshot for Joe Burrow

According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow "knows what he wants" regarding his anticipated contract extension. Rapoport added that things may not be finalized until after Los Angeles Chargers signal-caller Justin Herbert secures his extension. Burrow is widely considered one of the best at the position, so he'll command a hefty payday. The former LSU Tiger is certainly worth every penny, as he finished last season by throwing for 4,475 passing yards, 35 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He also found the end zone five more times on the run. With Lamar Jackson and Jalen Hurts each getting lucrative deals north of $50 million per season, Burrow could surpass those numbers. But regardless of when he signs a new contract, he's expected to finish the 2023-24 campaign as a top fantasy quarterback.

  • Nick Williams Joins Chargers

    Headshot for Nick Williams

The Los Angeles Chargers have agreed to a one-year deal with defensive end Nick Williams. The 33-year-old has bounced around in the league since being drafted in the seventh round in 2013 by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Williams played with the New York Giants last season, but managed to only play in eight games due to a biceps injury. He has 125 tackles and 7.5 sacks through his eight year career. It's a nice depth signing to get some veteran leadership on the defensive line for Los Angeles.

  • Jacob Martin Signs With Texans

The Houston Texans have reached an agreement with free-agent linebacker Jacob Martin on a one-year deal. The two sides have agreed on a reunion after Martin spent 2019-2021 with the Texans. He left and split time with the Denver Broncos and New York Jets last season. Martin didn't have much success elsewhere, so he'll join the Texans defense as additional depth. Martin has 78 tackles, 29 quarterback hits, and 16 sacks through five seasons in the league. He's expected to be a situational pass rusher for DeMeco Ryans defense.

  • Davante Adams Unlikely To Be Traded

    Headshot for Davante Adams

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams recently voiced his displeasure with the direction of this organization. The Raiders haven't added much offensive talent over the offseason. They've also parted ways Adams' friend Derek Carr in exchange for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. The six-time Pro Bowl wideout does not seem happy with the Raiders right now. Despite that, it's unlikely that the Raiders attempt to move Adams this offseason. He has a dead cap hit of $31.4 million if traded this year and $23.6 million if traded in 2024. The Raiders might be able to fetch a first-round pick for Adams, but it's not worth the cap hit. It's likely that the Raiders continue to ride with Adams, but his fantasy value might drop with Garoppolo under center.

  • Lane Johnson Cleared For Football Activities

Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Lane Johnson (core) has been cleared to resume football activities. The four-time Pro Bowler played through a core muscle injury last postseason. He missed the final two games of the regular season because of the issue, but played through the pain in the playoffs. After that, Johnson underwent surgery in February on his torn adductor. It's great to see the 32-year-old getting cleared for offseason workouts. Johnson remains an elite linemen and a key part to the Eagles rushing attack.

  • Michael Pittman Jr. Not Worried About Extension

    Headshot for Michael Pittman

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. is in a contract year in 2023, and if a deal isn't reached, he'll become an unrestricted free agent next March. "If it doesn't happen this year, that's no big deal," Pittman said recently. "It'll happen eventually, right?" Pittman has played with quarterbacks Philip Rivers, Carson Wentz, Matt Ryan, Sam Ehlinger and Nick Foles, and to his credit, he's never complained and has consistently been productive. The 25-year-old pass-catcher will be the top target for whoever is under center this year -- either Gardner Minshew or first-round rookie Anthony Richardson. Pittman had 60 more targets than any of his teammates in 2021 and 50 more in 2022, so he's a pretty safe target for consistent looks in Indy's new-look offense.

  • Mike Strachan's Time In Indy Could Be In Jeopardy

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Mike Strachan's time in Indy could be in jeopardy while not playing a big role on special teams in his first two NFL seasons. Strachan entered the league with high expectations. The 6-foot-5 seventh-round pick in 2021 made two catches in his NFL debut but has only made three since. He was inactive four times in 2022 and just hasn't been a factor in the passing attack. Keeping his spot on the active roster won't be easy. The Colts already have Michael Pittman Jr., Alec Pierce and Ashton Dulin, and they also added speedy slot receiver Josh Downs in this year's draft. Isaiah McKenzie was brought in through free agency. Strachan will need to have a strong training camp and preseason in order to stick around in 2023.

  • Demetric Felton Jr. To Play As Running Back This Spring

    Headshot for John Kelly

Cleveland Browns running back Demetric Felton Jr. is going to play as a running back this spring behind Nick Chubb and Jerome Ford. The Browns also have John Kelly and undrafted rookie Hassan Hall in the running back room. Hall likely needs to add muscle before he can be considered a candidate to play a meaningful role, but he's in line to see a lot of work this summer at training camp and has a chance to earn a spot on the practice squad. The 24-year-old Felton has also been used as a wide receiver and a return specialist on special teams, but none of those spots have really worked out for him. He has seven carries in his two years with the Browns, and he's unlikely to see a big role in the backfield unless Chubb or Ford get injured.

  • Za'Darius Smith Likely To Start At Defensive End

    Headshot for Myles Garrett

The Cleveland Browns likely view pass-rusher Za'Darius Smith as their starting left defensive end heading into the 2023 season. Myles Garrett has played around 80 percent of the team's defensive snaps over the last four seasons, but Ogbonnia Okoronkwo is 250 pounds and isn't an every-down player at defensive end. Alex Wright and Isaiah McGuire are also big enough to play inside in pass-down packages. Smith, 30, had 8.5 sacks in the first seven weeks in 2022 with the Minnesota Vikings but just 1.5 the rest of the way. He dealt with a knee injury from November on and continued to play through it, but his production fell off. If he can stay healthy this year in Cleveland, he could put up big numbers for fantasy managers in IDP leagues.

  • Lloyd Cushenberry The Favorite To Retain Starting Job At Center

    Headshot for Russell Wilson

Denver Broncos center Lloyd Cushenberry missed nine games last season with a hip injury, but he's still probably the favorite to retain the starting center job heading into the 2023 regular season. However, the former third-round pick in 2020 could be pushed by second-year player Luke Wattenberg, seventh-round rookie Austin Forsyth or veteran addition Kyle Fuller. The Broncos didn't draft an offensive tackle and haven't signed one outside of Mike McGlinchey so far in the offseason. In each of the last three seasons, Cushenberry has been the team's starter under center. If he stays healthy in training camp, quarterback Russell Wilson should be taking snaps from him again in Week 1.

  • Montrell Washington To Face Competition For Return Role

Denver Broncos return man Montrell Washington accounted for 32 of the team's 37 punt returns and 18 of its 24 kickoff returns as a rookie fifth-rounder in 2022. He averaged 8.47 yards per punt return, which ranked 10th in the league, but he also fumbled a combined five times and displayed questionable decision-making as a kick returner. Washington has top-flight speed and good instincts in the open field, but he'll face significant competition for the return job this summer, mainly from second-round rookie wideout Marvin Mims. Receiver Kendall Hinton also has some experience returning punts, and the Broncos are sure to look at some undrafted rookies in the role as well.

  • Randy Gregory In Good Health

    Headshot for Randy Gregory

Denver Broncos pass-rusher Randy Gregory (knee), who played in just six games in 2022 due to knee injuries, is doing well this offseason. "Randy is doing well. (We are in) Phase 2, and he's been here," head coach Sean Payton said. "He's in good health. Again, in Phase 2 we're doing a lot of the teaching, but he's doing well and looks good." A bounce-back season for Gregory, the team's top pass-rusher, is extremely important for Denver's defense this year. After Gregory got hurt and Bradley Chubb was traded to Miami in 2022, the Broncos' pass-rush numbers plummeted. Outside of Gregory, the Broncos have few proven pass-rushing commodities heading into the 2023 season, so his health will be worth watching this summer at training camp.

  • Samaje Perine Figures To Have Significant Role

    Headshot for Samaje Perine

Regardless of whether Denver Broncos running back Javonte Williams (knee) is ready to go for Week 1 of the regular season, Samaje Perine figures to have a significant role in the team's offense in his first year in Denver. It may not be the most sizable workload he's had in his career -- he had a career-high 175 carries for 603 yards in his rookie year with Washington -- but it should be a decent role nonetheless. "When we signed Samaje, this is a guy that gave us flexibility," head coach Sean Payton said. "We signed him because we knew he was durable and reliable. We felt like we got another solid runner who's built in a strong way." The 27-year-old averaged 4.4 yards per carry and also caught 76 passes in the last three seasons with the Bengals, so he'll be a necessary handcuff for those that draft Williams in 2023.

  • Preston Williams Cut By Panthers

    Headshot for Preston Williams

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Preston Williams has been released by the organization. The 26-year-old put together a fairly strong rookie campaign in 2019. Since then, Williams has struggled to make the same kind of impact in the league. He only played in one game with the Panthers last season. He has 56 receptions, 787 yards, and seven touchdowns in 25 games over the course of four seasons. Williams should be able to catch on elsewhere as a depth option.

  • Jacob Eason Released By Panthers

    Headshot for Jacob Eason

Carolina Panthers quarterback Jacob Eason has been released by the organization on Thursday. The former fourth round pick has seen very little NFL action since being drafted in 2020 by the Indianapolis Colts. The 25-year-old has completed 5-of-10 passing attempts for 84 yards with zero touchdowns and two interceptions in two career appearances. Possibly, Eason will catch on as a second string or more than likely a third string with another organization. He's still young enough to turn around his career, but he needs to find the right fit for himself.

  • Kylen Granson Could Be Cut-Candidate

    Headshot for Kylen Granson

Indianapolis Colts tight end Kylen Granson isn't a lock for the 53-man roster, according to Zac Keefer of The Athletic. The former fourth round pick didn't have a ton of success last season. He hauled in 31 receptions for 302 yards in 13 games (four starts) for the Colts this past season. To be fair, Granson hauled in 31 of his 40 total targets, so he appears to be a reliable pass-catcher, but didn't do much after making the catch. It sounds like Granson will have to earn his spot on the roster coming into camp. He'll compete with Mo Alie-Cox, Jelani Woods, and recently drafted Will Mallory for a spot on the roster this upcoming season.

  • Jerome Ford Expected To Have Increased Role

    Headshot for Jerome Ford

Cleveland Browns running back Jerome Ford is expected to take on the No. 2 role this upcoming season. The departure of Kareem Hunt and D'Ernest Johnson have left the Browns without many options in the backfield. That being said, it appears the Browns are ready to see what they have in Ford. He'll likely handle a decent amount of the pass-catching in the backfield. However, Nick Chubb is likely to see a majority of the workload with the Browns being shorthanded. Ford only had 14 offensive snaps last season, so it's hard to imagine him being ready to take on the No. 2 role. It'll be interesting to see what happens during training camp.

  • Steelers Give Mitch Trubisky A Two-Year Extension

    Headshot for Mitchell Trubisky

The Pittsburgh Steelers and quarterback Mitch Trubisky agreed to an undisclosed two-year contract extension on Thursday that also lowers his salary cap number for the 2023 season -- it was previously at $10 million. Trubisky began last season as the starter under center for the Steelers, but he finished the year as the backup to Kenny Pickett. In seven games in 2022, the 28-year-old Trubisky completed 65 percent of his passes for 1,252 yards, four touchdowns and five interceptions. Barring injury by Pickett in 2023, Trubisky will serve as Pittsburgh's backup signal-caller, giving him virtually no fantasy appeal. The former first-round pick by the Chicago Bears has not lived up to expectations in his NFL career.

  • David Ojabo Past His Achilles Injury

Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker David Ojabo (Achilles) is fully healthy and is determined to make the impact that he couldn't during his rookie season after suffering a torn Achilles last March at Michigan's Pro Day. Ojabo saw significant action in just one game, the regular season finale, in 2022. His upper body is noticeably bigger this offseason, and he said he gained "a solid five to 10 pounds of muscle." "Honestly I'm tired of hearing about it," Ojabo said. "It's in my past, I've grown from it. It's made me stronger. I'm ready to move on from it. I'm 110%. I honestly feel better. I feel more explosive. I'm excited." The 23-year-old could have been a first-rounder if not for his injury, and he should have every opportunity to earn a big role for the Ravens D in 2023.

  • Texans Sign Byron Cowart

    Headshot for Byron Cowart

The Houston Texans signed veteran free-agent defensive tackle Byron Cowart to an undisclosed deal on Thursday, according to a source. Cowart signed a deal with the Kansas City Chiefs in March but was released on May 10. The 26-year-old quickly latches on with the Texans. He spent the 2022 season with the Indianapolis Colts, playing in 17 games (zero starts) and recording only 12 tackles (four solo). In three NFL seasons, Cowart has 41 tackles (19 solo), a sack, five tackles for loss and one pass defensed in 36 games (14 starts). He was originally a fifth-round selection in 2019 by the New England Patriots out of Maryland. At best, Cowart will have a rotational role on Houston's defensive line if he makes the team.

  • Dayo Odeyingbo Feeling Stronger

    Headshot for Samson Ebukam

Indianapolis Colts defensive end Dayo Odeyingbo (Achilles) is up to 285 pounds right now after putting on 11 pounds of muscle, and he said he feels that his Achilles is getting stronger this offseason and it's getting back to where it's supposed to be. The 23-year-old is now two years removed from tearing his Achilles in the lead-up to the 2021 NFL draft. He played in 10 games in his rookie season and all 17 (four starts) last year, recording 31 tackles (18 solo), five sacks, five tackles for loss and 11 QB hits. Odeyingbo will be a key pass-rusher for the Colts in 2023, alongside Kwity Paye and Samson Ebukam, and he could even be moved inside at times.

  • Steelers Sign Luq Barcoo

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed free-agent cornerback Luq Barcoo to an undisclosed one-year deal on Wednesday. Barcoo played for the San Antonio Brahmas in the XFL this spring and finished the season with 31 tackles, one sack and one interceptions. He was initially signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2020 as an undrafted free agent. The 24-year-old played in three games (one start) that year in Jacksonville and recorded 10 tackles (seven solo). Barcoo has also spent time with the Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs, but he didn't play in any NFL games with them. He had a breakout senior season at San Diego State, when he led the NCAA with nine interceptions.

  • Jaylon Moore Placed On Injured Reserve

The Jacksonville Jaguars placed wide receiver Jaylon Moore (undisclosed) on Injured Reserve on Wednesday and signed linebacker Willie Taylor III in a corresponding move. It looks like Moore will miss all of the 2023 season after he signed a Reserve/Futures contract with the team following last year. The 25-year-old pass-catcher has bounced around with a few teams after going undrafted in 2020, and he hasn't played in an NFL game to this point. Taylor played in the XFL for the Arlington Renegades this spring and had 11 tackles and four sacks. He played collegiately at Washington State from 2017-21 before transferring to Eastern Kentucky for 2022.

Ojile stands at 6-foot-2 and 238 pounds, and he had 25 catches for 289 yards and five touchdowns last year as a tight end. He also carried the ball 12 times for 53 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. Ojile will join fullback C.J. Ham on the Vikings roster. Schlueter played both right and left tackle in college.

  • Carl Lawson Agrees To Restructured Deal

    Headshot for Carl Lawson

New York Jets defensive end Carl Lawson agreed to a restructured contract on Thursday, according to a source. Lawson was due a non-guaranteed $15 million this year, but he'll now be due a base value of $9 million, with $8 million of it guaranteed. Lawson will have $3 million more available in incentives. The restructure creates $12.7 million in salary cap space in 2023 for the Jets. The 27-year-old is entering his second year for Gang Green in 2023 after he had 33 tackles (18 solo), seven sacks, nine tackles for loss, 24 QB hits and a fumble recovery in 17 regular season games in 2022. Lawson should once again have a pretty prominent pass-rushing role for the Jets' improved defense this year.

Hudson will attempt to impress the coaching staff at training camp this summer to stick around on the roster. Woodbey also returns to the Rams after being waived this week. Woodbey was a versatile safety at Boston College who totaled 103 tackles, two passes defensed and an interception in his last two collegiate seasons.

  • Samori Toure, Jayden Reed To Battle For No. 3 Job

    Headshot for Jayden Reed

Barring the addition of a veteran receiver, Green Bay Packers wide receivers Samori Toure and rookie Jayden Reed are expected to battle for the No. 3 job behind Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs, beginning in organized team activities. Toure was only targeted 10 times in 2022, catching five of them for 82 yards and a touchdown. Toure will have an opportunity, but Reed was taken in the second round of the draft for a reason, with his speed, hands and route-running abilities standing out at Michigan State. The rookie is a candidate to fill the slot role after Randall Cobb's departure. Reed is undersized at 5-foot-11, 187 pounds, but his skills are intriguing for those looking to take a late flier in dynasty/keeper leagues.

  • Matt Ryan Unlikely To Play Again

    Headshot for Matt Ryan

Free-agent quarterback Matt Ryan, who announced he's joining the broadcast booth for the 2023 season, said it's unlikely that he'll play in the NFL again. "All the stars would have to [align]. I've just learned in the 15 years I've played, to not shut any doors," Ryan said. The former MVP made it clear he wasn't retiring earlier this week, but the chances of him joining another NFL team at this point are slim to none. He earned four Pro Bowl selections in his 14 years with the Atlanta Falcons and led his team to one Super Bowl appearance. As a 38-year-old for the Indianapolis Colts in 2022, Ryan had a career-low 14 touchdowns in 12 games and was eventually benched. If he were to officially retire, the Colts could come after some of the $12 million guaranteed they owe him after cutting him.

  • Will The Chargers Sign Austin Ekeler To A Contract Extension? Could Ekeler Hold Out? 2023 NFL Outlook

    Headshot for Austin Ekeler

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler has been one of the most productive "real life" players at the position over the past few seasons and has been a fantasy football superstar. However, he is past the running back age apex of 24 or 25, so the team is apparently hesitant to rework his contract. How has Ekeler played during his career and will he receive a contract extension? If not, could he hold out or be traded? Let's dive in. Austin Ekeler Career ReviewEkeler shared time with Melvin Gordon early in his career but carved out a nice passing game role with Philip Rivers. That said, he didn't score more than 11 touchdowns in any of his first four seasons in the NFL.However, his last two campaigns have been his best. In 2021 and 2022, the Western State product totaled 1,826 rushing yards and 25 rushing touchdowns on 410 carries -; and 1,369 receiving yards for 13 receiving touchdowns on 177 receptions. His 38 total touchdowns over that span are the most in the NFL by a wide margin.https://twitter.com/Ihartitz/status/1635317380636377089Somehow he hasn't been named to a Pro Bowl, but he's arguably been the best all-purpose running back in the league during his fifth and sixth seasons as a pro. Could Ekeler Hold Out During the 2023 Season?Ekeler wasn't present for the start of the team's voluntary offseason workouts on Monday. This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone really, as there hasn't been any progress made on contract extension talks between Ekeler and the Chargers since the 28-year-old requested and received permission to seek a trade in March. As he heads into the final year of his four-year deal, Ekeler could be a holdout candidate this summer. He has clearly outplayed his contract, but the Bolts may be unwilling to give him what he wants.https://twitter.com/danielrpopper/status/1658171880640245760This could result in a holdout during the early part of the season or an eventual trade. While he's not expected to be traded at this time, we shouldn't rule anything out at this point in the process. If he is traded, the Chargers have Joshua Kelley,Isaiah Spiller, andLarry Rountree III in the backfield, and they'd likely form a frustrating committee for fantasy managers. That said, the team would likely add a veteran or two to its backfield.<span style="font-weight: 400">

  • Vikings Sign Jordan Addison To Rookie Deal

    Headshot for Jordan Addison

The Minnesota Vikings signed first-round wide receiver Jordan Addison, who was the 23rd overall pick of this year's NFL draft, to his four-year rookie deal on Wednesday, according to a source. Durability could be an issue for the 21-year-old pass-catcher at the next level, as he stands at just 5-foot-11, 173 pounds, but he was extremely productive at Pittsburgh and UCLA in college. If he's going to be effective in the NFL, he'll need to gain plenty of separation from his defenders and pick up yards after the catch. Addison is joining a potent Vikings passing attack and he should start immediately in three-receiver sets, but the Vikes also have plenty of mouths to feed on offense, beginning with All-Pro wideout Justin Jefferson.

  • Chiefs Prioritizing New Deal For Chris Jones

    Headshot for Chris Jones

Kansas City Chiefs general manager Brett Veach is focused on signing defensive tackle Chris Jones to a new deal. "That's on the list of things to do," commented Veach while speaking to the media after the NFL Draft. "Those things usually take a little bit of time here, so we have a little bit of a runway now until the start of training camp to hopefully get something done." Jones is coming off a monster 2022-23 campaign, ending the regular season with 44 total tackles, 15.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles, meaning he will likely become one of the highest-paid players in the league at the position. Nevertheless, regardless of what happens with contract negotiations, the 28-year-old should remain a top IDP option.

  • Michael Gallup Believes Knee Injury Is Behind Him

    Headshot for Michael Gallup

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup stated he was bothered by lingering left knee soreness during the 2022-23 campaign. Fortunately, the wideout reported he's feeling good during a radio interview. "My knee was feeling sore. Last year at this time, I couldn't walk. It's different now. I feel springy again." The 27-year-old suffered a torn left ACL during a meeting with the Arizona Cardinals in January 2022 and missed three games last season. Nevertheless, Gallup has shown flashes of promise in the past, including amassing 1,107 receiving yards in 2019. As a result, he could easily surpass his ADP expectation, even with competition for Dak Prescott's attention. But Gallup will need to stay healthy, which will continue to be a concern for fantasy managers.

  • A.J. Brown Committed To Improving

    Headshot for A.J. Brown

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown is focused this offseason on getting better. "There's a lot I can Improve on," commented Brown during an interview with the Philadelphia Inquirer. "I want to be a complete receiver. But I'm just trying to be a well-rounded receiver and do it all. The sky is the limit." Brown finished last season with 88 catches for 1,496 yards, both career highs. He also had 11 touchdowns. The 25-year-old appears to have a solid working relationship with quarterback Jalen Hurts, so the former Titan has a chance of finishing the 2023-24 campaign as the league's top fantasy wideout, or at least one of them.

  • Dalvin Cook May Be Released Before Traded

    Headshot for Dalvin Cook

According to Mike Florio, the Vikings haven't found a trade partner for running back Dalvin Cook. While multiple clubs are likely interested in the Pro Bowler, nobody seems eager to take on his remaining contract. It appears Minnesota is set on getting Cook off the roster, so releasing him may be inevitable. If that occurs, several teams can swoop in and offer a deal better suited for their financial situation. Without question, the 27-year-old has been a potent fantasy option since entering the league. However, his fantasy outlook will hinge on where he ends up. Cook's inability to stay healthy has also been an issue over the years.

  • Multiple Teams Believe Ezekiel Elliott Has Lost A Step

    Headshot for Ezekiel Elliott

Long-time Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott was released by the team after his 2022 campaign, and the market for the 27-year-old Ohio State product is reportedly slim. Elliott rushed 231 times for 876 yards and 12 touchdowns last season for Dallas, but his 3.8 yards per carry marked a career low through his first seven NFL seasons. Teammate Tony Pollard rushed for 1,007 yards and averaged 5.2 yards per carry and was clearly the more efficient and explosive Cowboys' running back. According to ESPN's Kimberly A. Martin, "The market that Zeke wants just may not be there," and multiple franchises believe Elliott's best days are behind him. He may be on a roster next season, but he'll likely have to accept a cheap, one-year deal and will be a committee and short-yardage back moving forward.

  • Devon Achane Is Gaining Weight Ahead Of Rookie Season

    Headshot for Devon Achane

Miami Dolphins running back Devon Achane weighed just 188 pounds at the 2023 NFL Combine but has reportedly already gotten up to 192 pounds since being drafted in the third round. While four pounds may not seem like a big deal, every bit could help his chances to gain a significant workload in his rookie season. "I always knew that I could gain weight," said Achane. "I just didn't have the full offseason to gain weight because obviously, I was doing track. This is my first year not doing track, so I actually had the whole offseason to work out and be in football shape. So it kind of helped me with that." That said, he could pack on a few more pounds before his career begins. He is set to join a backfield with Jeff Wilson Jr. and Raheem Mostert, who have lengthy injury histories collectively, so Achane will serve as at least a solid bench stash in 2023.

  • Treylon Burks Says He's In Better Shape

    Headshot for Treylon Burks

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks struggled with conditioning and had trouble breathing in last summer's offseason workouts, but the second-year man said "I feel great. I'm running fast, not having any problems with breathing. Really just having fun, man. I am in a good place, state of mind, and I am just thankful." The Arkansas product caught 33 passes for 444 yards and one touchdown last season but looks to take a big step forward as the team's No. 1 wide receiver in 2023. Burks was bitten by the injury bug in his rookie campaign, missing six games due to turf toe and a concussion. With limited target competition, Burks should see a high target share, but the overall ceiling of the Titans' passing offense will likely be low under Ryan Tannehill and potentially Will Levis.

The Denver Broncos re-signed running back Tyreik McAllister to an undisclosed deal and also waived wide receiver Dallas Daniels, cornerback Darrious Gaines, tight end Kris Leach and running back Emanuel Wilson in corresponding moves. All four players had been signed as college free agents before rookie minicamp. McAllister spent a portion of last season on the team's practice squads after spending the offseason competing with Denver. In his final season at Charleston, he ran for 1,090 yards and 13 touchdowns on 143 carries. The Broncos had waived the 5-foot-11, 180-pounder last Friday before bringing him back earlier this week.

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed free-agent wide receiver Hakeem Butler to an undisclosed deal on Tuesday. Butler caught 51 passes for 599 yards and an XFL-best eight touchdowns in the spring for the St. Louis BattleHawks. The 27-year-old was originally a fourth-round selection by the Arizona Cardinals in 2019 out of Iowa State, but he never played for Arizona and only saw action in one season (2020) with the Philadelphia Eagles and didn't record a catch on one target in two games. The Houston Texans signed former Hawaii and Missouri State tight end Jordan Murray to an undisclosed deal on Wednesday, according to his agent, Sean Stellato. Murray wasn't drafted this year. The 6-foot-5, 247-pounder caught 26 passes for 351 yards and two touchdowns at Missouri State two years ago and finished his career there with 99 receptions for 1,196 yards and 11 touchdowns. The 28-year-old defensive back finished the 2022 campaign with only 20 tackles, two pass breakups and an interception. • Kayshon Boutte Not A Lock To Make Roster

    Headshot for Kayshon Boutte

As a sixth-round pick (No. 187 overall) in this year's NFL draft, New England Patriots wide receiver Kayshon Boutte should enter the league with low expectations, but he won't be a lock to make the team's 53-man roster out of training camp this summer. But Boutte is also a receiver that was the No. 2 receiver recruit in the nation just three years ago and who reached the 100-catch mark faster than any receiver in LSU history. If he can buy into the Patriots' demanding program and recapture the potential he showed years ago, he has the talent to become a legitimate weapon in the team's passing attack. There have been questions about Boutte off the field, and he also didn't test well at the scouting combine. He's one to watch, but fantasy managers in single-year leagues should be ignoring him this fall until he proves something.

  • Davante Adams Has Concerns About Raiders' Offense In 2023

    Headshot for Davante Adams

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams reportedly has "reservations" about the direction of the team's offense heading into the 2023 season. Adams went on to state, "We don't see eye-to-eye on what we think is best for us right now." The All-Pro wideout will catch passes from Jimmy Garoppolo in 2023 after catching passes primarily from either Aaron Rodgers or Derek Carr dating back to his college days at Fresno State. Adams proved in 2023 that he can produce All-World numbers away from Rodgers and should continue to post elite fantasy production with Garoppolo. It is likely that Adams' reservations won't translate to issues on the field, although if the Raiders start slowly this upcoming season, he could become a trade candidate.

  • Joe Burrow, Bengals Continue To Talk Contract Extension

    Headshot for Joe Burrow

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow confirmed on Tuesday that he and the team continue to work on a long-term contract extension after the Bengals unsurprisingly picked up his fifth-year option. "I'm involved. That's in the works," Burrow said. "That's not really something that I like to play out in the media. That's something just the way, I think, they want to do business, I want to do business, we prefer to keep that between us." It sounds as though the 26-year-old may not break the bank in order to leave some money on the table for his teammates that also need extensions, but he's still going to be paid very handsomely when all is said and done. Burrow has become a high-end NFL QB in the last two years, reaching the Super Bowl and then taking his team to the AFC Championship this past January.

Wilkerson joins the Raiders after he was waived by the Indianapolis Colts on May 2. The 26-year-old pass-catcher didn't play at all last year after suffering a concussion in training camp with the New England Patriots. In his first two seasons in the NFL in 2020 and 2021, he caught just four of his eight targets for 42 yards and two touchdowns, with all of his production coming in three games (one start) in 2021. Wilkerson will simply be trying to do enough in training camp this summer to stick around in Las Vegas.

  • Seahawks Sign Mario Edwards Jr., Forrest Merrill

    Headshot for Mario Edwards

The Seattle Seahawks signed free-agent defensive lineman Mario Edwards Jr. and Forrest Merrill to undisclosed deals on Monday. Linebacker Michael Ayers and defensive end Jacob Sykes were waived to make room on the roster. A former second-round pick in 2015 by the Las Vegas Raiders, Edwards will join his sixth NFL team after recording 17 tackles (11 solo), three sacks, four tackles for loss and 11 QB hits in 13 games (seven starts) for the Tennessee Titans in 2022. The 29-year-old has 19.5 career sacks in 99 games played (32 starts) over eight seasons. Merrill, 26, was signed by the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2021, and he's played in just one NFL season (four games).

  • Drew White Placed On PUP List

The Washington Commanders placed linebacker Drew White (knee) on the Physically Unable to Perform list on Monday after waiving him with a failed-physical designation. White was waived last Friday but didn't attract any interest on waivers and will return to Washington. The two sides could still end up parting ways before the 2023 regular season. The Notre Dame alumni has yet to play in an NFL game.

  • Rams Sign Christian Sims

The Los Angeles Rams signed 26 undrafted free agents after this year's NFL draft, including Bowling Green tight end Christian Sims. The other players include inside linebacker Kelechi Anyalebechi, kicker Tanner Brown, wide receiver Braxton Burmeister, cornerback Timarcus Davis, cornerback Tyon Davis, safety Collin Duncan, kicker Christopher Dunn, running back Tiyon Evans, wide receiver Tyler Hudson, safety Tanner Ingle, wide receiver Sam James, outside linebacker Matthew Jester, safety Quindell Johnson, cornerback Jordan Jones, offensive lineman Sean Maginn, offensive lineman Mike McAllister, cornerback Cameron McCutcheon, offensive lineman Grant Miller, inside linebacker Ryan Smenda Jr., wide receiver Xavier Smith, inside linebacker DeAndre Square, safety Rashad Torrence, long snapper Alex Ward, quarterback Dresser Winn and inside linebacker Jaiden Woodbey.

  • Justin Herbert Resumes Throwing After Surgery

    Headshot for Justin Herbert

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert (shoulder) was throwing a football during the team's voluntary offseason workouts on Monday after coming off left-shoulder surgery this offseason. Herbert had surgery to fix a torn labrum in his left, non-throwing shoulder but hadn't resumed throwing a ball until Monday. The Chargers will take things slowly with the 25-year-old, but he should be fully ready to go by training camp at the end of July, especially since the surgery wasn't on his throwing shoulder. Herbert finished as the QB8 in fantasy in 2022 with 4,739 passing yards, 25 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, and he was given a new toy in first-round receiver Quentin Johnston this year. Consider him a midrange QB1 heading into his fourth NFL season.

  • Austin Ekeler Not At Voluntary Workouts

    Headshot for Austin Ekeler

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler wasn't present for the start of the team's voluntary offseason workouts on Monday. This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone really, as there hasn't been any progress made on contract-extension talks between Ekeler and the Chargers since the 27-year-old requested and received permission to seek a trade in March. As he heads into the final year of his four-year deal, Ekeler could be a holdout candidate this summer. He has clearly outplayed his contract, but the Bolts may be unwilling to give him what he wants. If Ekeler is traded, the Chargers have Joshua Kelley, Isaiah Spiller and Larry Rountree III in the backfield, and they'd likely form a frustrating committee for fantasy managers.

  • Ndamukong Suh Unlikely To Sign Before Training Camp

    Headshot for Ndamukong Suh

Free-agent defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh isn't hanging up his cleats this offseason, but he's also unlikely to sign with a new team before training camp begins this summer. "I have no desire to be in a training camp," Suh said. "I will come in and watch and look and give some advice, but when Week 1 happens, I'll be ready." The 36-year-old is entering his 14th NFL season after spending time with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2022. Suh didn't join the Eagles last year until November, so he clearly is in no rush to sign with a new organization. His best fits could be a return to the Detroit Lions, with the Seattle Seahawks or with the Baltimore Ravens. The five-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro is no longer in peak form obviously, but he can still provide plenty of run-stopping support for a contending team.

  • Colts Being Patient With Anthony Richardson

    Headshot for Anthony Richardson

The Indianapolis Colts are preaching patience with rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson after taking him fourth overall in this year's NFL draft. Head coach Shane Steichen has preached the value of detail-oriented, step-by-step instruction as the young QB learns the team's playbook and navigates a new locker room. The next start he makes will only be the 14th of his career above the high-school level. Richardson is raw, but the Colts have been impressed by his pocket awareness in particular, and he showed off his high-level playmaking abilities during rookie minicamp last weekend. The 20-year-old's athleticism isn't in question, it's his lack of experience, decision-making and accuracy that is suspect, and it could take him some time to get comfortable at the next level.

  • Will Anderson Will Play Full-Time Defensive End

    Headshot for Will Anderson

Houston Texans rookie edge rusher Will Anderson Jr. will put his hand down in the dirt and line up as a defensive end during the 2023 season. Texans coach DeMeco Ryans confirmed the position switch would be taking place. The No. 3 overall pick played outside linebacker at Alabama, where he made 204 tackles and 34.5 sacks in three years. He led the SEC in sacks in 2021 and 2022 while setting the conference record for sacks in a career. Anderson said, "I'm super excited, just to do anything they need from me for the team." It's not completely new for Anderson; he played defensive end in high school. Anderson retains dual positional eligibility at linebacker and defensive line in Sleeper IDP fantasy football.

  • Mason Rudolph Re-Signs With Pittsburgh Steelers

    Headshot for Mason Rudolph

The Pittsburgh Steelers resigned quarterback Mason Rudolph to a one-year deal after he did not attract interest in free agency. Rudolph is the Steelers' QB3, behind Kenny Pickett and Mitchell Trubisky. He did not play in any games in 2022. His last start came in Week 9 of 2021 when he completed 30-of-50 pass attempts for 242 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in a 16-16 tie with the Detroit Lions. In his four-year career, he has completed 236 of 384 pass attempts for 2,366 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Rudolph adds quarterback depth to a Pittsburgh Steelers team that has some interesting fantasy weapons at wide receiver, running back, and tight end.

  • Bryce Young Splitting First-Team Reps With Andy Dalton

    Headshot for Bryce Young

Number one draft pick Bryce Young is splitting the Carolina Panthers' first-team repetitions with Andy Dalton. Panthers coach Frank Reich said that Dalton will start out as the No. 1 quarterback during full-team practices, but he said that Young would also be taking reps with the first team and that he might end up getting more first-team reps in the end. "When he's ready, when it's best for the team, that's when we'll look to make the transition. But when we come back out Monday, Andy will be taking reps with the ones. Bryce will be with the twos. But Bryce isgonna get a lot of reps. He'll likely even get a few more than Andy just as the new guy," Reich said in an interview with The Atlantic.

  • Darnell Wright Signs Rookie Deal, Boosting Justin Fields' Protection

    Headshot for Justin Fields

The Chicago Bears signed their first-round draft pick offensive tackle Darnell Wright to his rookie deal on Monday. The Tennessee Volunteers product, who is 6'6" and 335 pounds, allowed no sacks and just six hurries while taking 507 pass protection snaps his senior year in Knoxville. The Bears are hoping his prowess will result in better protection for Justin Fields, who was one of the most-sacked quarterbacks in the league. Last season, the Bears allowed 58 sacks, the fourth-most. Chicago did rank No. 16 in pass blocking, according to PFF. Some of the sacks Fields took were the result of him holding onto the ball too long. Still, Wright is an upgrade at right tackle, and he should improve the fantasy outlooks of Chicago's offensive weapons.

  • Dalton Kincaid Takes Part In Rookie Minicamp

    Headshot for Dalton Kincaid

Buffalo Bills rookie tight end Dalton Kincaid (back) didn't do any football workouts or the NFL scouting combine testing in the lead-up to the draft due to the recovery process from a back injury that didn't require surgery, but he took part in Buffalo's rookie minicamp over the weekend. "I feel good," said the first-round draft pick. "Definitely rusty in terms of not being able to do as much as I wanted to the last couple months. But I felt really good out there." The 6-foot-4, 246-pounder has high expectations after being the first tight end taken in an elite class for the position. He has elite hands and is expected to bring a boost to the Bills' passing attack immediately. Rookie tight ends typically don't produce immediately in fantasy, but Kincaid should have a pretty high ceiling sooner than later.

  • Jalin Hyatt Signs Rookie Deal

    Headshot for Jalin Hyatt

New York Giants wide receiver Jalin Hyatt signed his four-year rookie deal that is worth $5.625 million on Monday. The Giants took Hyatt in the third round of this year's NFL draft. The 21-year-old speedster from the University of Tennessee injured his hamstring at the scouting combine, but he should be healthy enough to be available for training camp at the end of July. Hyatt has gained some weight recently and should challenge Darius Slayton and Isaiah Hodgins for playing time on the outside immediately in 2023. Still, New York also has wideouts Parris Campbell, Sterling Shepard and Wan'Dale Robinson, so it could be tough for Hyatt to carve out consistent production for fantasy managers in Year 1 in the NFL.

  • Bijan Robinson Being Used "Everywhere"

    Headshot for Bijan Robinson

Atlanta Falcons rookie running back Bijan Robinson, the eighth overall pick in this year's draft, said he trusts head coach Arthur Smith to use him "the right way" and also that he's being used "everywhere" so far in rookie minicamp. "He uses me everywhere, from receiver to running back," Robinson said of Smith. "He lets me do my abilities and skill set the right way, whether it's catching the ball, running routes, obviously running the football, blocking and doing it all." The 21-year-old is expected to step into a big role immediately, despite the presence of Tyler Allgeier and Cordarrelle Patterson. Robinson has a lot to live up to in his first NFL season, but if he's used the way he's expected to be used, he should return RB1 value in Atlanta's run-heavy offensive attack.

  • James Washington Signing With Saints

    Headshot for James Washington

Former Pittsburgh Steelers and Dallas Cowboys wide receiver James Washington is signing with the New Orleans Saints on a one-year deal. The Oklahoma State alumni played in just two games last season with Dallas thanks to a preseason foot injury but did catch any passes. In 60 games with the Steelers, he hauled in 114 passes for 1,629 yards and 11 touchdowns. While Washington won't carry much fantasy value immediately, he could be sprung into action if Michael Thomas suffers another injury. Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, A.T. Perry, and Tre'Quan Smith round out the Saints' wideout room.

  • Tyjae Spears Says He's Fully Healthy

    Headshot for Tyjae Spears

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears had plenty of question marks during the pre-draft process about his knee injuries, but he has been a full participant in rookie mini-camp and said "I was out there. I did everything. So, I feel perfectly fine. Nothing wrong with me. I'm healthy." The Tulane product has no ACL in one of his knees and is reportedly dealing with arthritis. However, the 21-year-old still became a third-round pick and is expected to contribute to the Titans' offense early in his career. The 29-year-old Derrick Henry may need a change of pace back to ease some of his workload at this point in his career, so Spears could carve out a role as a third-down back and breather back sharing the backfield with the former 2,000-yard rusher. Spears could see a shortened career due to his knee troubles, but his immediate production should not be a concern.

  • Marcus Peters Visiting Raiders

    Headshot for Marcus Peters

Former Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Rams, and Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marcus Peters is visiting the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday, marking his first free agent visit of the offseason. The 30-year-old missed the entire 2021 season with a torn ACL, but played in 13 games in 2022, recording 47 total tackles, one interception, and six passes defended. Peters is a three-time Pro Bowler and four-time All-Pro and has collected 32 interceptions during his eight-year career. The Raiders secondary struggled last season, allowing the fourth-most total passing yards under defensive coordinator Patrick Graham. Peters' best days are likely behind him, but he could provide depth and a veteran presence for the Silver and Black if he signs with the organization.

  • Kendre Miller Not Expected To Miss Training Camp

    Headshot for Kendre Miller

New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen said he doesn't expect rookie running back Kendre Miller (knee) to miss any of training camp in the second half of July. Allen didn't clarify when Miller could get back on the field, but it's a good sign he isn't slated to miss any of the all-important training camp practices. Miller was selected in the third round by New Orleans after a fantastic season with TCU. The 20-year-old rushed for 1,399 yards and 17 touchdowns for the National Champion runner-ups. However, Miller suffered a knee injury in the College Football Playoff semifinals and wasn't able to participate in on-field work during the pre-draft process.

  • Isaiah Wynn Signs One-Year Deal With Dolphins

Former New England Patriots first-round offensive tackle Isaiah Wynn signed an undisclosed one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, according to sources. Wynn will add key depth and competition to Miami's offensive line. The 27-year-old missed the end of the 2022 season due to a foot injury, but he's now in Miami and will compete for playing time as he stays in the AFC East division. He'll most likely be competing with Austin Jackson for playing time at right tackle. In his four years with the Patriots, Wynn played in 43 games and made 40 starts.

  • Matt Ryan Joins Broadcast Booth, Says He's Not Retired

    Headshot for Matt Ryan

Free-agent quarterback Matt Ryan announced on Twitter that he's joining CBS Sports as an analyst this year, but that he's not retiring from the game. Ryan will be in the broadcast booth in 2023, but he's not closing the book on his NFL career after falling flat for the Indianapolis Colts in 2022. The 37-year-old former MVP completed 67 percent of his passes last year for 3,057 yards, 14 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in 12 games before he was benched. It wasn't entirely his fault, though, as the Colts' offensive line didn't give him much of a chance to be successful in the pocket. Even if Ryan does sign with another NFL team down the road, it won't be in anything more than a backup role.

  • Brodric Martin Has A Lot Of Upside

Detroit Lions rookie defensive tackle Brodric Martin, who was acquired in the third round of this year's NFL draft, has 35-inch arms and a massive 330-pound frame. He was easily the team's biggest lineman on the field during rookie minicamp over the weekend, and his upside as a space-eating nose tackle is clear as day. "There's a lot of upside with the guy," assistant general manager Ray Agnew said. "First of all, he's big, powerful and strong. He's got some technique stuff (to fix), but everything about him is fixable. I think our D-line coach will do a great job of teaching him how to play the game. There's a lot in that body, man. We're excited about him." Martin looks to be a quick study and could be contributing early on for the Lions in 2023.

  • Lions Expect Jack Campbell To Make Immediate Impact

    Headshot for Jack Campbell

The Detroit Lions took linebacker Jack Campbell in the first round of this year's NFL draft because they think he'll make an immediate impact in the middle of their defense. Part of the process from now until Campbell's first NFL game in Week 1 will be honing in on the details. He looks the part already as a strong communicator in the heart of the defense, and he's a man among boys in terms of his stature. There aren't too many players with Campbell's size (6-foot-5, 249 pounds) who can move like him at linebacker. While the 22-year-old wasn't often in the opponent's backfield making tackles for loss, his extreme athleticism could make him an IDP tackle machine sooner than later.

  • Sam LaPorta Puts On A Show At Rookie Minicamp

    Headshot for Sam LaPorta

Detroit Lions rookie tight end Sam LaPorta was the best player on the field on Saturday at the team's rookie minicamp, and he got plenty of looks from quarterback Adrian Martinez. LaPorta was targeted early and often and caught everything that came his way. His versatility stood out. Detroit used him as an in-line tight end but also flexed him out to receiver over the weekend, something he did often at Iowa. LaPorta can hurt teams in a variety of ways, so expect the Lions to continue moving him around. The 22-year-old also showed impressive elusiveness and acceleration on the field. The No. 33 overall pick in this year's draft should be a great fit in this offense, but fantasy managers might want to be patient in terms of his 2023 production.

  • Emmanuel Forbes Works In Slot

    Headshot for Emmanuel Forbes

Washington Commanders first-round cornerback Emmanuel Forbes was deployed strictly on the outside in college because of his high-end coverage instincts, but the Commanders typically lined up in the slot during rookie minicamp over the weekend. The spot makes sense for Forbes if the team looks to keep starters Kendall Fuller and Benjamin St-Juste on the boundaries. Forbes should be a starter for Washington in his rookie season in 2023, and he set the collegiate record by returning six of his 14 interceptions back for touchdowns, so he's likely to eventually have appeal as a defensive back in IDP fantasy leagues. But it will be interesting if Forbes stays in the slot, because his 6-foot-1, 173-pound frame doesn't exactly profile well on the inside.
