Seahawks Unsure If Geno Smith Will Play On Thanksgiving

  • Headshot for Geno Smith

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said he doesn't know if quarterback Geno Smith (elbow, triceps) will be able to play on Thanksgiving on Thursday night in Week 12 against the division-rival San Francisco 49ers after he injured his right elbow/triceps in Sunday's loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Carroll described Smith's injury as a bruise to the lower tricep/back of his right elbow. The good news is that Smith was able to return late in the second half in the 17-16 loss to the Rams and almost led the team to a game-winning drive. But with a short turnaround in Week 12, backup Drew Lock might need to make his first start of the year. Even if Smith is cleared to play on Turkey Day, he'll be a QB2 to fade against the strong Niners defense. Smith went 22-for-34 for 233 yards and one touchdown on Sunday.
