  • Allen Robinson II Taking It Slow At OTAs

    Headshot for Allen Robinson

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Allen Robinson II (foot) has mostly been working out of the slot during organized team activities this week, but he's still in the latter stages of recovery from foot surgery last November and said he hasn't been a full participant in practices. Robinson insisted that he will be full-go for training camp at the end of July. He's hoping he can fill the No. 3 receiver role for Pittsburgh behind Diontae Johnson and George Pickens in his first year with the team. The 29-year-old figures to see most of his time in the slot, where he has played around 40% of the time in his career. A-Rob has three 1,000-yard seasons in his career, but he has fallen off considerably the last two years, mainly due to injury. If healthy, he could be a bounce-back candidate worth taking a chance on as a late-round flier in deeper fantasy leagues.

  • Markus Golden Joins Steelers

    Headshot for Markus Golden

Outside linebacker Markus Golden reached an agreement to join the Pittsburgh Steelers on a one-year deal. The 32-year-old spent seven seasons with the Arizona Cardinals and two seasons with the New York Giants, totaling 47 sacks in his career. Last season with Arizona, he only produced 2.5 sacks but posted 11 sacks in 2021. Ultimately, he's likely just a rotational pass-rusher at this point in his career, but he could make an impact rushing opposite T.J. White in spots if makes the 53-man roster for the 2023 season. The Steelers led the NFL in total sacks every year from 2017-2021, and with a healthy Watt, they could get back to that standing.

  • Steelers Cut Linebacker Tae Crowder

    Headshot for Tae Crowder

The Pittsburgh Steelers cut linebacker Tae Crowder, who had a short stint on their practice squad at the end of the season. Crowder, the New York Giants' final pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, was a productive IDP fantasy football starter in 2021 despite being poorly graded by PFF. Crowder made 130 combined tackles and two interceptions in his second season. He lost his starting job in 2022 and was released by the Giants. If Crowder does find a spot in an injury-depleted lineup during the 2023 season, he could be a waiver wire add in IDP leagues. The Steelers also cut linebacker Emeke Egbule and signed linebacker Toby Ndukwe.

  • Steelers Give Mitch Trubisky A Two-Year Extension

    Headshot for Mitchell Trubisky

The Pittsburgh Steelers and quarterback Mitch Trubisky agreed to an undisclosed two-year contract extension on Thursday that also lowers his salary cap number for the 2023 season -- it was previously at $10 million. Trubisky began last season as the starter under center for the Steelers, but he finished the year as the backup to Kenny Pickett. In seven games in 2022, the 28-year-old Trubisky completed 65 percent of his passes for 1,252 yards, four touchdowns and five interceptions. Barring injury by Pickett in 2023, Trubisky will serve as Pittsburgh's backup signal-caller, giving him virtually no fantasy appeal. The former first-round pick by the Chicago Bears has not lived up to expectations in his NFL career.

  • Steelers Sign Luq Barcoo

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed free-agent cornerback Luq Barcoo to an undisclosed one-year deal on Wednesday. He was initially signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2020 as an undrafted free agent. The 24-year-old played in three games (one start) that year in Jacksonville and recorded 10 tackles (seven solo). • Mason Rudolph Re-Signs With Pittsburgh Steelers

    Headshot for Mason Rudolph

The Pittsburgh Steelers resigned quarterback Mason Rudolph to a one-year deal after he did not attract interest in free agency. Rudolph is the Steelers' QB3, behind Kenny Pickett and Mitchell Trubisky. He did not play in any games in 2022. His last start came in Week 9 of 2021 when he completed 30-of-50 pass attempts for 242 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in a 16-16 tie with the Detroit Lions. In his four-year career, he has completed 236 of 384 pass attempts for 2,366 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Rudolph adds quarterback depth to a Pittsburgh Steelers team that has some interesting fantasy weapons at wide receiver, running back, and tight end.

  • Darnell Washington A Big Red-Zone Threat

    Headshot for Darnell Washington

Pittsburgh Steelers rookie tight end Darnell Washington can be used as a big red-zone target and a formidable blocker for the Steelers offense in his rookie season. The Steelers took the big tight end out of the University of Georgia with the 93rd overall pick in the third round last weekend. He stands at 6-foot-7, 264 pounds, and is surprisingly agile and athletic for his size. The 21-year-old is still developing as a pass-catcher -- he caught only 45 passes for 774 yards and three touchdowns in three seasons with the Bulldogs. Fantasy managers in redraft leagues should probably ignore Washington in 2023, as Pat Freiermuth remains Pittsburgh's top pass-catching option at the tight end position.
