C.J. Stroud Practices In Full On Thursday
Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud (shoulder) was already banged up heading into Week 2. The rookie quarterback was dealing with a shoulder injury and getting sacked six times didn't help the matter. After that, Stroud was limited during Wednesday's practice session due to a right shoulder issue. Luckily, Stroud was a full participant during Thursday's practice session. That is good news heading into the Week 3 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The young signal-caller should be considered a low-end QB2 for this game.

Houston Texans rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud (shoulder) came into the Week 2 loss against the Indianapolis Colts already banged up, and he was sacked six times and hit nine times overall and still managed to throw for 384 yards. He ranks fourth in the league in passing yards and has no interceptions in the first 91 pass attempts of his career, which is an NFL record. Stroud has been dealing with a painful right throwing shoulder, but he said he's making strides and will be able to play in Week 3 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. "I feel blessed, I feel good," Stroud said. "Football is a physical sport and that's what I signed up for, but my body is fine. I'll be all right." The first-round rookie will remain a low-end QB2, but he's creeping up the ranks after his first two games and gets a vulnerable Jags defense on the road in Week 3.

The three-time Pro Bowler would be a welcomed addition on the left side of the offensive line as rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud's blind-side protector for a Week 3 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars on the road. It doesn't sound as though Tunsil's knee injury is too serious, but he's still not a lock to be active this weekend and will need to put in some more practice time this week to convince the coaching staff that he's ready to go.

The 21-year-old first-rounder has been the most impressive of the rookie signal-callers through two weeks, and he's coming off an eye-opening performance in the Week 2 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in which he threw for 384 yards and two touchdowns on 47 pass attempts. Stroud is certainly going to have his ups and downs in his rookie season in the NFL, but we've liked what we've seen from him so far. He'll remain a low-end QB2 in fantasy with upside in a tougher matchup this weekend in Jacksonville.

Stroud. Until the 27-year-old Howard is able to return, George Fant will likely start on the right side of Houston's offensive line. Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce had five carries for 30 yards in Houston's 17-13 win over the New Orleans Saints. More importantly, though, he was the only running back that saw playing time with the first unit. In all nine snaps with C.J. Stroud and the starters, Pierce never came out. Devin Singletary's snaps on Sunday came with the second unit. We shouldn't read too much into a preseason game. However, it is encouraging to see Pierce play every snap with the first team. Pierce is coming off an impressive rookie season in 2022, running for 939 yards and four touchdowns. With the team signing Singletary this offseason, many fantasy managers were worried about split touches for Houston's backfield. However, if Sunday's preseason finale was any indication, Pierce could be locked into a more significant role than some had previously thought. Pierce is a great RB2 on your fantasy rosters in 2023 and could be in for a more prominent role in his second NFL season.

Stroud hooked up with Collins for a three-yard score in the first quarter. He will enter the year as Stroud's top option in the passing game. The third-year wideout saw two drives with the first-team offense, and the rookie quarterback targeted him the most. In four Stroud pass attempts, Collins saw two targets -- including the touchdown catch. Since being drafted in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Collins has been stuck behind veteran Brandin Cooks on the depth chart. But with Cooks' departure, the former Michigan star could see a more prominent role on offense. It's not great for Collins' fantasy value to have a rookie quarterback under center, as the offense will likely be inconsistent for most of the year. However, if he can maintain consistency by being Stroud's favorite target, he can be an occasional flex play in 2023.

Needless to say, he hasn't been spectacular, but the expectation is he will take time to develop. He's not yet locked in as the team's Week 1 starter for the regular season, but that could come sooner than later. Surrounded by a weak supporting cast, it would be surprising if Stroud is worth starting in single-QB fantasy football formats this season.
