  • Jauan Jennings Having Great Offseason

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings is reportedly having the best offseason of his career, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. The second-year receiver is likely to become the No. 3 option in this offense. Last season, Jennings finished with 24 receptions, 282 receiving yards, and five touchdowns in 16 games. It was a decent rookie season for Jennings considering he was a seventh round pick. Despite that, it's unlikely that Jennings has standard league value heading into next season. There probably won't be enough targets for him to have success on a regular basis. Although, he could be an interesting stash in dynasty formats.

  • Jauan Jennings Showing Chemistry With Trey Lance

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings emerged as one of the team's most reliable targets on third down and in the red zone, but that didn't happen until late in the year. Jennings had 16 catches for 212 yards in the final five games, with 11 of those going for either a touchdown or a first down. He's carried that momentum into this offseason and has displayed an easy chemistry with quarterback Trey Lance that has made Jennings one of Lance's favorite red-zone targets. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said Jennings has had his best offseason since entering the league in 2020 as a seventh-rounder out of Tennessee. The 24-year-old finished last year with 24 receptions on 38 targets for 282 yards and five touchdowns in 16 games (one start). A third-year breakout could be coming, especially if San Francisco trades Deebo Samuel.

  • 49ers Plan To Let Jimmy Garoppolo Negotiate Contract With Teams

Jimmy Garoppolo remaining on schedule to resume throwing puts the prospect of a near-future trade on the table. But the ninth-year quarterback’s 2022 salary will be an issue for teams in an extreme buyer’s market. The 49ers QB is due a $24.2MM base salary this season. Garoppolo’s injury-prone San Francisco career now including a throwing-shoulder […]

  • Deebo Samuel Hasn't Rescinded Trade Request

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel hasn't officially rescinded his trade request from earlier this offseason, but he did show up for the team's mandatory minicamp, which is a positive. There's also not a lot of league-wide chatter about the potential for a trade right now. Of course, San Francisco continues to say that they have no interest in trading Samuel, who finished as the WR2 in fantasy last year, behind only Los Angeles Rams receiver Cooper Kupp. The 26-year-old Samuel apparently didn't care for being used as a running back in 2021, but that was mostly out of necessity due to all of the team's RB injuries. It remains to be seen if the two sides can work out a long-term contract extension, but as of right now, Samuel remains a strong WR1 target that will most likely remain with the team.

  • Latest On 49ers' Running Backs Room

The 49ers’ running backs room is loaded with talent but loaded, too, with questions marks and a history of injuries. In a breakdown of every San Francisco player from OTAs to minicamp, The Athletic’s Matt Barrows laid out the situation.  The 49ers counted on a sixth-round rookie as their lead back last year. • Jimmy Garoppolo Remains On Schedule In His Recovery

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (shoulder) remains on schedule in his recovery from shoulder surgery and for his timetable to resume throwing, according to a source. The expectation is that Garoppolo will throw over the next few weeks, starting in early July per head coach Kyle Shanahan, and that plan remains in place. The 30-year-old had surgery in each March, but he's expected to be ready to take part in training camp, whether it's with the Niners or another team. He hasn't done any offseason workouts, but the 49ers are likely to get serious about trading him again once he resumes throwing. Although there have been whispers that second-year signal-caller Trey Lance might not be ready for the starting job, Jimmy G is still more likely to be traded than to remain with the team for the 2022 season.
