  • Patriots Re-Sign Jalen Mills

The New England Patriots have re-signed defensive back Jalen Mills on Wednesday. The two sides have agreed on a one-year contract worth up to $6.1 million for the 2023 season. The organization released Mills earlier this offseason, which saved the team $5 million in cap space. Now, the two sides come together again with what is likely a heavy incentive based contract. Mills recorded 31 tackles and two interceptions in 10 games with the Patriots last season. He's a quality defensive back, so this is a nice move by the Pats.

  • Patriots To Sign TE Mike Gesicki

5:17pm: The Patriots will land Gesicki for just $4.5MM in base value, AtoZsports.com’s Doug Kyed tweets. While the ex-Dolphin has another $4.5MM available via incentives, this base is less than half the money he made on the tag in 2022. The former second-round pick will see $3.5MM guaranteed. 8:52am: Two of this market’s top pass […]

  • Patriots Release Jalen Mills

The New England Patriots released defensive back Jalen Mills on Friday, according to a source. The move saves the team around $5 million against the 2023 salary cap. Mills played in only 10 games in his second year with the Patriots in 2022 due to injuries and finished with a career-low 31 tackles (26 solo), two interceptions and five passes defensed. In his two years in New England, the 28-year-old recorded 61 solo tackles, two interceptions, 12 passes defensed and a fumble recovery in 26 regular season starts. The former seventh-round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2016 should latch on with another team and should be ready for training camp this summer.

  • Patriots Sign Mike Gesicki

The New England Patriots have reached an agreement with free-agent tight end Mike Gesicki. The two sides have come to terms on a one-year, $9 million contract for the 2023 season. This move gives the Patriots a second tight end after they traded Jonnu Smith to the Atlanta Falcons. Gesicki is coming off a down year this past season, but recorded 70 receptions in 2021. The potential is there, but Gesicki didn't fit well in Mike McDaniel's system. He'll likely be stuck in a timeshare with Hunter Henry in New England. Hopefully, a change of scenery will make Gesicki fantasy relevant again.

  • Patriots Visiting With Taylor Rapp Thursday

The New England Patriots are hosting Los Angeles Rams free-agent safety Taylor Rapp on a visit that begins on Thursday, according to a source. The versatile defender could land with the Patriots after spending his first four NFL seasons with the Rams. Rapp had 100 total tackles in his rookie season in 2019 and has had 90-plus total tackles in each of the last two years. In 16 starts last year, the 25-year-old defensive back recorded 92 tackles (58 solo), two interceptions, six passes defensed and a fumble recovery. Moving to a different team this offseason would could afford Rapp of a guaranteed starting spot in 2023.

  • Andrew Van Ginkel Visiting With Patriots

Free-agent linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel is visiting with the New England Patriots on Thursday, according to a source. Van Ginkel had 47 tackles (24 solo), half a sack, four QB hits and an interception in 17 regular season games (five starts) in his fourth season for the Miami Dolphins in 2022. The 27-year-old is also a big special teams contributor, so he should be a nice fit for the Patriots. The former fifth-round selection by the Dolphins in 2019 has 181 tackles (114 solo), 11 sacks, 23 tackles for loss, 38 QB hits, one interception, 13 passes defensed, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries (one returned for a touchdown) in his four NFL seasons with Miami.

  • Patriots To Re-Sign LB Mack Wilson

The Patriots will bring back 2022 trade acquisition Mack Wilson. While the veteran linebacker fielded interest from at least three teams, Tom Pelissero of NFL.com notes (via Twitter) he is staying in New England. Both the teams Wilson has played for — the Browns and Patriots — showed interest, along with the Texans. But Wilson […]

  • Patriots Scoop Up James Robinson On Two-Year Deal

The New England Patriots are signing free-agent running back James Robinson to a two-year deal worth up to $8 million on Wednesday, according to a source. Robinson became a free agent this offseason when the New York Jets decided not to tender him a contract for the 2023 season. The Jets acquired Robinson in a trade from the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2022, but he was barely used, carrying the ball 29 times for 85 yards in four games for Gang Green. Rhamondre Stevenson will enter the 2023 campaign as the Patriots' primary back, but Robinson could carve out a role behind him with Damien Harris on the free-agent market. The Patriots also have Pierre Strong Jr. and Ty Montgomery, among others, and we know how Bill Belichick likes to rotate his RBs.

  • Patriots Have Called About DeAndre Hopkins, Jerry Jeudy

The New England Patriots have called about Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins and Denver Broncos receiver Jerry Jeudy, according to sources. The Patriots also attended free-agent receiver Odell Beckham Jr.'s workout last week in Arizona. It remains to be seen if New England will go after any of these receivers after signing JuJu Smith-Schuster to a three-year, $33 million deal on Wednesday, but they are definitely in the receiver market this offseason after seeing top wideout Jakobi Meyers leave for the Las Vegas Raiders in free agency on Tuesday. The Pats need to give struggling young quarterback Mac Jones all the help he can get, and Nelson Agholor could also leave in free agency.

  • JuJu Smith-Schuster Signs With Patriots

Former Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster has agreed to a three-year $33 million deal to join the New England Patriots. Smith-Schuster is coming off a Super Bowl victory with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022. On the year, he caught 78 of his 101 targets for 933 yards and three touchdowns. The 26-year-old has a 1,400-yard season on his resume. He'll help replace Jakobi Meyers, who just departed to join the Las Vegas Raiders. Smith-Schuster is arguably the best wide receiver Mac Jones will play with during his young career, so hopefully, the team will be able to turn things around on that side of the ball in 2023.

  • Patriots Eyeing JuJu-Smith Schuster, Odell Beckham Jr.

Wide receivers JuJu Smith-Schuster and Odell Beckham Jr. are reportedly drawing interest from the New England Patriots in free agency. Smith-Schuster is coming off a Super Bowl victory with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022. On the year, he caught 78 of his 101 targets for 933 yards and three touchdowns. Meanwhile, Beckham did not play in 2022 after tearing his ACL in the Rams' Super Bowl victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. He held a workout for some NFL teams recently and is on the hunt for a new home for the 2023 season. Either addition would help a lackluster Patriots' receiver group that just lost Jakobi Meyers to the Las Vegas Raiders.

  • Falcons Acquire Jonnu Smith From Patriots

The Atlanta Falcons acquired tight end Jonnu Smith from the New England Patriots on Monday, according to sources. The Patriots will receive a seventh-round pick in exchange. Trading away Smith will open up some 2023 salary cap space for the Patriots while also cementing Hunter Henry in as their unquestioned top pass-catching tight end. In Atlanta, the 27-year-old Smith will play second fiddle to starting TE Kyle Pitts. Smith has fallen off the fantasy radar the last two seasons while playing in New England, catching 55 passes on 83 targets for 539 yards and only one touchdown in 30 games (19 starts). The move to the Falcons will do nothing to put him back on the fantasy map in 2023.

  • Devin McCourty Calls It A Career

New England Patriots safety Devin McCourty announced his retirement from the NFL on Friday on his official Instagram account. The Patriots originally selected McCourty in the first round in 2010 out of Rutgers, and he spent his entire 13-year career with the organization. He made two Pro Bowls (in 2010 and 2016) and will ride off into the sunset and will finish his career with 971 tackles (740 solo), 20 tackles for loss, three sacks, 35 interceptions (two returned for touchdowns), 110 passes defensed, 11 forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries in 205 regular season games. The 35-year-old won three Super Bowl championships in his time with the Patriots.
