  • Rams Hire Raheem Morris As Defensive Coordinator

The Los Angeles Rams officially hired Raheem Morris to be their next defensive coordinator on Thursday. Morris will be replacing Brandon Staley, who was hired as the Chargers head coach last Sunday. The 44-year-old will bring 18 years of NFL coaching experience on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. He served as the interim head coach of the Falcons for their final 11 games in 2020. Morris was with Atlanta the last six seasons. He was the youngest head coach in the league in 2009 when he was hired by the Buccaneers. Morris started his NFL coaching career as a defensive quality control coach for Tampa in 2002 and was promoted to assistant defensive backs coach in 2004. He worked with head coach Sean McVay a combined four seasons with the Bucs and Washington. Morris will take over a nasty defense led by All-Pro defensive tackle Aaron Donald. The Rams D will likely be the first fantasy unit off the board in 2021 drafts.

  • Rams Focusing On Raheem Morris As Defensive Coordinator

The Los Angeles Rams are focusing on former Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator/interim head coach Raheem Morris as their new defensive coordinator, according to sources. It's looking like Morris will be the one to replace Brandon Staley, who was hired as the Chargers new head coach. Morris was Atlanta's interim head coach for the last 11 games of the 2020 season after Dan Quinn was fired, and he went 4-7 to close out the year. The Falcons Defense allowed 30-plus points in four of their first five games, but they turned things around on that side of the ball once Morris took over. The 44-year-old was Tampa's head coach from 2009-11, with the team going 17-31 in that stretch. Morris worked with Rams head coach Sean McVay in Tampa and also in Washington.

  • Rams Souring On Jared Goff?

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay said that quarterback Jared Goff is "the quarterback right now" after their Divisional Round loss to the Packers on Saturday, but he didn't sound as convincing when asked about it the following day. "The people I've spoken to said basically at this moment the relationship with Goff and McVay: not great. They need marriage counseling is what one person said to me," NFL.com's Steve Wyche said. Goff battled through a surgically repaired broken thumb in the postseason and posted 3,952 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, 13 interceptions a 67 completion percentage and a 90 passer rating, but he was way too inconsistent on a regular basis. McVay plans to meet with Goff to get on the same page moving into the 2021 season, but don't be surprised if LA brings in another veteran QB to push Goff moving forward. He'll be a midrange QB2 if he has the starting gig next season.

  • Cooper Kupp Inactive For Divisional Round

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp (knee) is officially inactive for Saturday's playoff game against the Green Bay Packers. A huge loss for a team whose quarterback is already dealing with a thumb injury, we'll likely see Josh Reynolds step into Kupp's role. Reynolds now has some nice appeal as a DFS value play, but this is likely to be a very run-heavy game for the Rams, with Cam Akers being the real winner here.

  • Cooper Kupp Could Have Decent Floor If He's Active

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp (knee) might be impacted by quarterback Jared Goff's thumb injury on Saturday in the Divisional Round game against the Packers, but his role as a short-yardage receiver should still give Kupp a solid fantasy floor. Of course, this is dependent on Kupp suiting up, as he's been dealing with a knee injury all week. If for some reason he's unable to go, Josh Reynolds would become an intriguing DFS punt play.

  • Robert Woods Has Downside On Saturday

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Robert Woods made the best of an iffy passing situation last week, catching four passes for 48 yards and a touchdown in the wild-card win over Seattle. But with quarterback Jared Goff (thumb) at less than 100 percent for Saturday's Divisional game against the Packers, it will hard to trust Woods in DFS due to the potential downside, as Goff really struggled to complete passes last week. He has touchdown upside, but he isn't the safest choice in this Rams receiving corps.

Jan 16 · Source via Rams Robert Woods
  • Cam Akers Should Play Huge Role Saturday

Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers should see plenty of work on Saturday against the Green Bay Packers, making him a strong DFS option. With quarterback Jared Goff (thumb) banged up, expect to see a heavy dose of the run game. Akers had 30 total touches last week, piling up 176 yards and a touchdown. Expect to see upwards of 20 touches again in the Divisional Round. The Packers are a bottom-half run defense in the NFL, so Akers will have plenty of chances to turn his opportunities into fantasy points.

  • Jared Goff A Risky Divisional Round Play

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff (thumb) will start against the Packers on Saturday, but the injured passer is an easy choice when looking for a quarterback to avoid on this slate. Working in relief last week, Goff was just 9-for-19 against the Seahawks for 155 yards. Expect the Rams to focus heavily on the run game in this one, leaving their passing game to pick up the scraps.

  • Cooper Kupp Questionable Against Packers

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp (knee) is listed as questionable for the Divisional Round against the Green Bay Packers on Saturday. Kupp missed practice all week, so fantasy managers should certainly be way of quarterback Jared Goff's top target if he's active this weekend. Kupp's injury wasn't deemed serious last weekend when he left late in the wild-card win over the Seahawks, but it could very well limit him if he suits up against Green Bay. Wide receivers Robert Woods, Josh Reynolds and rookie Van Jefferson could see more targets if Kupp has his snaps limited, but all of LA's pass-catchers should be knocked down a peg with Goff fighting through a surgically repaired right thumb.

  • John Wolford Ruled Out, Jared Goff To Start Saturday

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay has ruled quarterback John Wolford (neck) out for the Divisional Round game against the Packers on Saturday. Wolford hasn't practiced this week after suffering a stinger in the wild-card game against the Seahawks and having to be taken to the hospital. Jared Goff (thumb) will make the start against Green Bay, with Blake Bortles backing him up. Goff didn't start last weekend after having surgery to fix a broken and dislocated thumb that he suffered in Week 16. The Rams didn't ask too much of him, as he went just 9-for-19 for 155 yards and a touchdown after he replaced Wolford in the first quarter. Goff has been practicing in full this week but is unlikely to be 100 percent against a Packers Defense that allowed the third-fewest fantasy points per game to QBs during the regular season. Goff will be the shakiest fantasy signal-caller this weekend.

  • Cooper Kupp, John Wolford Miss Practice Wednesday

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp (knee) and quarterback John Wolford (neck) both missed practice on Wednesday. Kupp also sat out of the walk-through on Tuesday. He's reportedly just dealing with bursitis in his knee, but it's something to watch as we approach Saturday's Divisional Round contest against the Packers. He'll need to get in at least a limited practice on Thursday for fantasy managers to feel comfortable using him in their lineups. Even if he's active, Kupp will have a much lower floor and ceiling with quarterback Jared Goff (thumb) also injured. Rookie Van Jefferson and Josh Reynolds could see an uptick in usage if Kupp is limited or out against Green Bay. Wolford started the wild-card win over the Seahawks but didn't make it out of the first quarter. If he's active, he's expected to back up Goff this weekend. If Wolford can't go, Blake Bortles would back up Goff.

  • Aaron Donald Pain-Free

Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald (ribs) said that he's pain-free after he injured his ribs and left the wild-card win over the Seahawks last Saturday. Donald said that he felt like he had the wind knocked out of him when the injury initially occurred. "The way I'm feeling right now, I'm not too worried about it... I feel good, I feel strong, and I'll be ready come Saturday," Donald said. The All-Pro pass-rusher isn't expected to do much in practice this week, though, but he's expected to play against the Packers. Donald is a big reason why the Rams Defense has been the top-ranked unit in the league in 2020, but they'll face a tall task against Green Bay this weekend. It may not be wise to expect LA's defense to finish as the top fantasy unit in the Divisional Round, but at least they'll have Donald in the fold.

  • Jalen Ramsey Key For Rams Defense

Los Angeles Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey has shut down the who's who of top wide receivers this season. The list includes Amari Cooper, Stefon Diggs, Terry McLaurin, Allen Robinson II, D.K. Metcalf, Mike Evans and DeAndre Hopkins. None of those wideouts were able to produce a 100-yard game with Ramsey shadowing them in 2020, including Metcalf three times and Hopkins twice. Cooper had the best game against Ramsey with seven catches for 57 yards. The NFL's leader in receptions and receiving yards, Diggs, had just one catch for a four-yard touchdown against Ramsey. That could be potentially bad news for Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams, who will be covered by Ramsey in the Divisional Round. Adams led the league with 18 touchdowns and 98.1 yards per game in 2020, but he could be a DFS bust this weekend.

  • Jared Goff A Full Participant In Walk-Through

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff (thumb) was listed as a full participant in the team's walk-through practice on Tuesday. John Wolford (neck) didn't practice at all, so Goff is trending toward starting in the Divisional Round against the Packers, even though the Rams haven't made an official decision yet. Goff is unlikely to be 100 percent healthy the rest of the way after having surgery recently to fix a broken and dislocated right thumb, which makes him one of the riskiest fantasy signal-callers for the Divisional Round this weekend. The 26-year-old didn't look like his usual self when entering the wild-card game for Wolford last weekend, going just 9-for-19 for 155 yards and a touchdown in the win over the Seahawks.

Jan 12 · Source via Rams Jared Goff
  • Aaron Donald, John Wolford Sit Out Of Walk-Through

Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald (ribs) and quarterback John Wolford (neck) did not participate in the team's walk-through practice on Tuesday. Despite not practicing, Donald is expected to be ready for the Divisional Round against the Packers on Saturday. However, the 29-year-old All-Pro pass-rusher may not see much, if any, practice time this week. The Rams Defense will face a much tougher task in Aaron Rodgers and a high-scoring Packers offense this weekend, so temper expectations a bit from the top-ranked defense. We'd expect Jared Goff (thumb) to get the start over Wolford against Green Bay, but the Rams will likely wait to make an official decision. You shouldn't be holding out hope for Wolford to play against Green Bay.

  • Cooper Kupp Has Bursitis In Knee

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay said that wide receiver Cooper Kupp (knee) has bursitis in his knee, but "the hope is to have him ready to go" for the Divisional Round against the Green Bay Packers. Kupp hauled in four of his nine targets for 78 yards in the 30-20 win over Seattle, but he was seen limping off late in the fourth quarter with his knee injury. While it's not a serious injury, it's something to consider with both quarterbacks Jared Goff (thumb) and John Wolford (neck) also banged up heading into the second round of the postseason. Kupp could also see a lot of shutdown cornerback Jaire Alexander against the Packers, making him a potential bust in fantasy playoff leagues this weekend.

  • Aaron Donald Expected To Play Against Packers

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay said that he doesn't expect defensive lineman Aaron Donald's (ribs) injury to "affect his game status for this week." Donald was injured while taking Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson down on a tackle late in the wild-card win on Saturday. The All-Pro pass-rusher made several trips to the locker room and had trouble breathing on the sidelines. Donald didn't return to the game, but he likely would have if the game was still in question. The 29-year-old is the heart and soul of this Rams Defense, so it's great news that his injury wasn't serious enough to keep him out in the Divisional Round against the Packers. LA's defense was the top unit in the NFL this year, but they'll have a tough task on their hands this weekend and won't be the top fantasy selection for the Divisional Round.

  • John Wolford Day-To-Day With Stinger

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay said that quarterback John Wolford (neck) is day-to-day with a stinger. Wolford started the wild-card game against the Seahawks but was knocked out in the first quarter and sent to a local hospital. The good news is that he turned out OK, although he could miss some practice time this week as the team prepares to face the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Round. Jared Goff (thumb) didn't look all that great while replacing Wolford against Seattle, but we'd expect the Rams to go with Goff over Wolford in the next game with both QBs now injured. Whoever the Rams go with against Green Bay will be one of the weakest quarterback options for fantasy managers in the second round of the postseason, especially since the Packers allowed the third-fewest fantasy points per game to opposing QBs in 2020.

  • Cooper Kupp Fine After Suffering Knee Contusion

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp (knee) suffered a knee contusion late in the fourth quarter of the wild-card win over the division-rival Seahawks on Saturday. He will be fine and should be active in the Divisional Round next weekend. The 27-year-old left the game late and didn't return with the game already decided, but it looks like he escaped a serious injury. Kupp finished the game with four catches on nine targets for 78 yards in the 30-20 win over Seattle. The former third-round pick remains quarterback Jared Goff's (thumb) favorite aerial target, but he'll be a bit risky yet again in DFS playoff lineups next week (likely against Green Bay) with both Goff and backup John Wolford (neck) dealing with injuries. Don't be surprised if Kupp misses some practice time this week as a precaution.

  • Rams Hopeful Aaron Donald Will Be Available Next Weekend

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay said that the team is hopeful that defensive lineman Aaron Donald (ribs) will be available to play in the Divisional Round next weekend after the Rams beat the division-rival Seahawks in the wild-card round on Saturday. Donald was injured late in the game when he was taking quarterback Russell Wilson down on a sack and never returned to the contest. The 29-year-old All-Pro pass-rusher finished the game with three solo tackles (two for loss), three QB hits and two sacks. Donald has been a Pro Bowler each of his seven seasons in the NFL and has also been a first-team All-Pro five times. He remains one of the league's best pass-rushers and is a must-start IDP defensive lineman anytime he's on the field. It sounds like Donald should be available for LA's top-ranked defense in the Divisional Round, but keep a close eye on his status throughout the week. His X-rays came back negative.

  • Jared Goff, John Wolford Should Be OK

Los Angeles Rams quarterbacks Jared Goff (thumb) and John Wolford (neck) are both banged up following the wild-card win over the Seahawks, but a source said that both of them "should be OK." Wolford took a hard hit to his head/neck in the first quarter and was sent to the hospital, but he returned to LA on Saturday night with the team. Wolford went 3-for-6 for 29 yards against Seattle before leaving the game and never returning. Goff entered and finished just 9-for-19 for 155 yards and a touchdown. The Rams tried to protect Goff's surgically repaired right thumb, and the signal-caller looked bothered by the injured finger at times while throwing wobbly and off-target passes. Both quarterbacks could be limited in practice this week in the lead-up to their Divisional Round game, but we'd expect Goff to get the nod unless he has a setback with his finger. Based on the way he looked against the Seahawks, Goff would be an extremely shaky fantasy quarterback for next round.

  • Aaron Donald Questionable To Return Saturday

Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald (ribs) is questionable to return to the wild-card playoff game against the Seahawks on Saturday after suffering an injury in the third quarter. Donald suffered the injury while tackling quarterback Russell Wilson and immediately grabbed at his ribs before walking back into the locker room for further evaluation. Los Angeles' defense has held the Seahawks to just 13 points, but losing Donald potentially for the rest of the wild-card matchup could loom large. The All-Pro pass-rusher had accumulated three solo tackles (two for loss) and two sacks before leaving the contest. The Rams Defense has been one of the best units in the NFL all season long, and Donald has been the main reason why.

  • John Wolford Questionable To Return Against Seattle

Los Angeles Rams quarterback John Wolford (neck) is questionable to return to the wild-card playoff game against the Seahawks on Saturday after taking a hard hit to the head/neck on a designed run play in the first quarter. Wolford started over the injured Jared Goff (thumb) and was moving the ball well on the second offensive drive of the game before suffering the injury. Wolford was 3-for-6 for 29 yards and could've had more if not for a dropped pass from wide receiver Robert Woods. Goff entered the game and was sacked as the offense settled for a field goal. With the way Wolford was performing early in this game, Goff might be a downgrade for LA's offense overall against a Seahawks Defense that has stiffened up late in the season. Blake Bortles, the team's No. 3 QB, was a healthy scratch.

  • John Wolford, Not Jared Goff, To Start Against Seahawks

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay said that quarterback John Wolford will be the starter under center on Saturday in the wild-card game against the Seahawks, with Jared Goff (thumb) backing him up after having right thumb surgery two weeks ago. Wolford will be making just his second career NFL start this weekend against a Seahawks Defense that has allowed the fewest fantasy points to signal-callers in the last five weeks. Wolford will be a low-ceiling, low-floor fantasy QB, with the Rams offensive skill position players also having less upside with Goff not starting. There's still a chance that Goff could play on Saturday, but avoiding the Rams QB situation is probably the safest move. Wolford was 22-for-38 for 231 yards, no touchdowns and an interception in the Week 17 win over the Cardinals.

  • Jared Goff Active For Wild-Card Round

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff (thumb) is active for Saturday's playoff meeting with Seattle in the wild-card game, but Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network cautions that this doesn't necessarily mean that Goff is starting. The Rams have kept things quiet all week about who'll start at quarterback between Goff and backup John Wolford. If you're considering either signal-caller in DFS, you need to be ready to swap them out for the other on a moment's notice, though neither has great upside against a Seahawks Defense that played well over the final quarter of the season. There's still a chance that Wolford starts and Goff is the emergency backup.

  • Jared Goff Warming Up Ahead Of Playoff Game

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff (thumb) has been spotted warming up ahead of Saturday's wild-card meeting with the Seattle Seahawks. Goff reportedly looks good throwing the ball. There's uncertainty about who will start at QB for the Rams in Saturday's game, and backup John Wolford is also warming up and is ready to go if Goff cannot go. Either way, the Seattle defense has played well lately and the Rams starting quarterback doesn't have too much DFS upside, though Goff would have slightly more if he's the starter. The rest of LA's offensive skill players will have more upside if Goff is under center.

Jan 9 · Source via Rams Jared Goff
  • Malcolm Brown Has Little Upside Against Seahawks

Los Angeles Rams running back Malcolm Brown has taken a clear back seat to rookieCam Akers in the pecking order for L.A., leaving him with little upside against the Seattle Seahawks in Saturday's wild-card game on Saturday. Brown did have two touchdowns in the first meeting between these two teams, but he hasn't found the end zone a single time since. He has just 11 carries in the past four games and should be considered nothing more than a punt play this weekend.

Jan 9 · Source via Rams Malcolm Brown
  • Cam Akers Should See Plenty Of Carries In Wildcard Round

Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers saw 21 carries in Week 17 with the Rams starting John Wolford at quarterback. And while Akers didn't get much accomplished with those carries, turning them into just 34 yards, he did add four receptions for 52 yards. Akers has become the clear No. 1 running back on this Rams team, though it's worth noting he was relatively ineffective with his 10 carries the first time these teams met. But if you're looking for volume on Saturday's slate, Akers should get it, even if Jared Goff (thumb) is back. Production might be a different story for Akers, as Seattle has shown improvement against the run as the season has progressed.

Jan 9 · Source via Rams Cam Akers
  • Cooper Kupp Should Have Solid Floor On Saturday

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp has five or more receptions in four consecutive games, including catching eight passes for 66 yards last week with John Wolford starting at quarterback. It remains unclear who the quarterback will be on Saturday, but if it is Wolford again, Kupp should be the player who is least impacted by the downgrade from Jared Goff (thumb) to Wolford. Consider him a solid DFS play, even if his ceiling might not be nearly as high as you might want in a GPP.

Jan 9 · Source via Rams Cooper Kupp
  • Recent Struggles Make Robert Woods Risky In Wild-Card Round

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Robert Woods has seen a drop in numbers lately. After topping 70 yards in seven of the first 12 games of the season, he failed to do so in each of the final four games. His receptions per game through 12 games were 5.9, but that dropped to 4.8 over the final quarter of the season. Add in the likelihood of a backup quarterback taking the field for the Rams and that Woods had four catches for 36 yards against Arizona without Jared Goff and you get the recipe for a mediocre game from Woods. There are more affordable DFS plays that offer a better chance of success this week.

Jan 9 · Source via Rams Robert Woods
  • Jared Goff Pushing To Play, John Wolford Ready If Needed

Los Angeles Rams quarterback John Wolford took the majority of the snaps this week at practice and is prepared to play against the Seahawks on Saturday in the wild-card game if Jared Goff (thumb) cannot go, according to sources. Goff has thrown well despite a broken thumb, but head coach Sean McVay still has not made a decision on who will start against Seattle. Goff is pushing to play, but it remains a challenge given the fact that he had surgery just last week to fix a broken and dislocated right thumb. This will be a game-time decision and is a situation for fantasy managers to avoid on wild-card weekend. The Seahawks Defense has also allowed the fewest fantasy points per game to opposing signal-callers in the last five weeks.
