  • Isiah Pacheco A Name To Watch

Kansas City Chiefs rookie running back Isiah Pacheco has been classified as a "player to watch" by senior NFL reporter Albert Breer. The speedy RB has been "lighting up" training camp and has Kareem Hunt traits, but with a gear Hunt didn't have. After spending four years at Rutgers, the 23-year-old was selected in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL draft. He compiled 2,442 yards and 18 touchdowns off 563 carries during that time. Assuming he makes the active roster, he's expected to spend some time with the special teams unit this year. It's obvious he can handle a heavy workload based on his collegiate career. With Clyde Edwards-Helaire also known for his inability to remain healthy, there's a chance Pacheco could surpass Ronald Jones, Jerick McKinnonand Derrick Gore on the depth chart and receive some meaningful touches out of the backfield this season. But for now, he's just a "player to watch."

  • Skyy Moore Returns To Practice Wednesday

Kansas City Chiefs rookie wide receiver Skyy Moore (hip) returned to training camp practice on Wednesday after injuring his hip on Tuesday. Kansas City drafted Moore in the second round of this year's draft in order to help make up for the loss of All-Pro Tyreek Hill, who is now in Miami. In his final season at Western Michigan, Moore had 95 catches for 1,292 yards and 10 touchdowns. The 21-year-old is an intriguing talent when paired with quarterback Patrick Mahomes, but he'll have to fight for snaps alongside JuJu Smith-Schuster, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Mecole Hardman and Josh Gordon. Depending on how the WR rotation shakes out entering the regular season, Moore could be worth a late-round dart throw in deeper fantasy leagues.

  • Isiah Pacheco To Begin As Primary Kickoff Returner

Kansas City Chiefs rookie running back Isiah Pacheco will start the preseason as the team's primary kickoff returner. "We'll see if he can handle it," special teams coordinator Dave Toub said. "In a few games, we'll be able to know right away. He's promising. He's a big guy: 215 (pounds) running a 4.37 (40-yard dash at the league's scouting combine). That's kind of scary back there if we can get that thing going." If the seventh-rounder can handle the duties, he should be able to secure a roster spot heading into his first NFL season. On offense, the 23-year-old's speed could earn him a role alongside Ronald Jones and Jerick McKinnon, but for now, Pacheco is off the fantasy radar in most leagues.

  • Skyy Moore Injured Tuesday

Kansas City Chiefs rookie wide receiver Skyy Moore (hip) left training camp practice early on Tuesday with a hip injury. The severity of the injury is unknown, but Moore was limping noticeably before coming off the field. The second-rounder dealt with a hamstring injury during the offseason program, but he entered training camp 100 percent healthy. The 21-year-old entered camp looking to make an impact in a receiver room attempting to make up for the loss of All-Pro Tyreek Hill. JuJu Smith-Schuster, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Mecole Hardman will see more work in camp if Moore is forced to miss time. If Moore's injury forces him to miss significant time this summer, it will be good news for Josh Gordon's involvement early in the season.

  • Patrick Mahomes Tweaks His Ankle Monday

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (ankle) tweaked his ankle during the last play of the 11-on-11 portion of training camp practice on Monday. He hobbled to the sideline and was helped to the white medical tent by a trainer. Mahomes emerged from the tent shortly after with a re-taped ankle and went back to the sidelines with his helmet. "Yeah, he got stepped on," head coach Andy Reid said. "He's OK. He's alright. An offensive lineman got pushed back into him." Mahomes took part in individual QB drills before practice ended, and it's likely that he'll return to practice on Tuesday with his left ankle taped up. The 26-year-old star signal-caller should be fine moving forward. Although he lost All-Pro receiver Tyreek Hill in the offseason, Mahomes remains an elite QB1 target in fantasy.

  • Orlando Brown Jr. Reporting To Camp Monday

Kansas City Chiefs left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. will report to training camp on Monday and will play the 2022 season on the franchise tag. Sources close to Brown say he's in the best shape of his life and knows how important the first five days of padded practice are for him, the team and head coach Andy Reid. The 26-year-old's holdout in training camp will end, which is great news for quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the entire Chiefs offense as they prepare for the 2022 season. The former third-rounder has made the Pro Bowl each of the last three seasons and was a stabilizing force on Mahomes' blind side in his first year in KC in 2021.

  • Jerick McKinnon Had Offseason Surgery

Kansas City Chiefs running back Jerick McKinnon (sports hernia) underwent surgery during the offseason. While the 30-year-old wasn't the most impactful fantasy option with the Chiefs last season, he continues to play a pivotal role on the roster, mainly considering the health history of Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Managers should currently treat McKinnon as an insurance policy. However, his ceiling could increase if CEH succumbs to another ailment in 2022-23. Still, even if that happens, McKinnon will need to battle Ronald Jones II, Derrick Gore, and rookie Isiah Pacheco for touches.

  • Carlos Dunlap Signs One-Year Deal With Chiefs

Veteran free-agent defensive end Carlos Dunlap signed a one-year deal worth up to $8 million on Thursday with the Kansas City Chiefs, according to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus. Dunlap was released by the Seattle Seahawks in March after he totaled 8.5 sacks, 35 tackles (24 solo), eight tackles for loss, 14 QB hits, seven passes defensed and one forced fumble in 17 games (two starts) for Seattle in 2021. The 33-year-old still has some juice left in the tank and will be a nice veteran option for Kansas City's offensive line this year behind rookie George Karlaftis.

  • Clyde Edwards-Helaire Comes Off PUP List

Kansas City Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire was briefly placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list on Tuesday to begin training camp with an undisclosed ailment, but he returned to the practice field on Wednesday. The Chiefs were never worried about Edwards-Helaire, but he still has plenty of work to do this summer and preseason to hold off newcomer Ronald Jones for primary backfield duties in KC. The 23-year-old didn't have a normal offseason in either of his first two NFL seasons, so hopefully this summer he can take advantage of it. With Jerick McKinnon a threat to steal valuable third-down work, CEH has become more of a high-end RB3/low-end RB2 after two disappointing seasons with the Chiefs.

  • Skyy Moore Earning Early Praise At Camp

Kansas City Chiefs rookie wide receiver Skyy Moore was named as a standout in the team's indoor workout this Monday by Chiefs reporter Pete Sweeney. Moore was dealing with some hamstring issues earlier this summer, but he stated ahead of training camp that he was 100%. The second round pick out of Western Michigan is one of the more intriguing fantasy targets in this year's rookie class. He's a 5'10" speedster and he landed in an ideal spot within the Chiefs' high octane offense. Additionally, with Tyreek Hill no longer in town, there will be plenty of targets to go around. Make sure he's on your radar for the late rounds of fantasy drafts.

  • Travis Kelce Agrees to Contract Adjustment

The Kansas City Chiefs and tight end Travis Kelce have agreed to an adjusted contract. As a result, he will get a raise in 2022 as money from the back of his contract is being shifted to the front of it. The 32-year-old is currently locked up through the 2025 season. With the original structuring of his contract, he was due to make $6.5 million this coming season and that number was set to incrementally go up and eventually reach $16.25 million in 2025. The exact terms of the new deal haven't been released as of yet. The seven-time Pro Bowler is coming off yet another dominant season in which he caught 92 passes for 1,125 yards and nine touchdowns.

  • Chiefs Put Clyde Edwards-Helaire On PUP List

The Kansas City Chiefs placed running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire (undisclosed) on the Physically Unable to Perform list on Tuesday. However, The Athletic's Nate Taylor is reporting that Edwards-Helaire's situation is nothing major, and he could be taken off the list in the next few days. Still, it's not good for CEH, who has been a bust so far in the NFL since the Chiefs took him in the first round in 2020. The 23-year-old played in only 10 games in 2021 due to injuries and finished with 517 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 119 carries, adding 19 receptions for 129 yards and two TDs. There's a scenario where newcomer Ronald Jones usurps Edwards-Helaire for the starting job in KC in 2022, especially if Jones looks good in training camp. Although CEH could be practicing soon, his stock his falling and he should be considered more of a high-end RB3/flex option in fantasy drafts right now.

  • Orlando Brown Won't Report To Training Camp

Kansas City Chiefs left tackle Orlando Brown will not report to training camp on Monday, which was the expected outcome after he couldn't come to a contract extension with the team this summer. Brown isn't expected to be at training camp with the Chiefs in St. Joseph, MO, anytime soon. He hasn't signed his franchise tag yet, so he won't be subject to fines for missing training camp practices. The Chiefs offered the 26-year-old a deal that would've been more than San Francisco 49ers' star left tackle Trent Williams' six-year, $138 million deal, but Brown turned it down due to security and structuring issues. After being acquired from the Baltimore Ravens, Brown stepped in immediately last year and was a rock on quarterback Patrick Mahomes' blind side.

  • Justyn Ross To Miss His Rookie Season

The Kansas City Chiefs placed undrafted rookie wide receiver Justyn Ross (foot) on Injured Reserve on Monday, and he will miss the entire season after recently undergoing foot surgery. It's a tough break for the 22-year-old, who could still develop into a starting NFL receiver down the road. With Tyreek Hill now in Miami, the Chiefs will open the season with JuJu Smith-Schuster, Mecole Hardman, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and rookie Skyy Moore as their top four pass-catchers. No one wideout can single-handedly replace Hill in the receiving game, which is why KC plans to spread the ball around like never before with quarterback Patrick Mahomes under center in 2022.

  • Chiefs Frustrated With LT Orlando Brown Jr.

The Chiefs and left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. were unable to agree to an extension prior to the July 15 deadline for franchise-tagged players to sign multi-year deals. That development has reportedly led to Kansas City becoming frustrated with its 2021 trade acquisition. “There was frustration and there was disappointment,” Jeffri Chadiha of the NFL Network […]

  • Chiefs Place Four Players On PUP List

The Chiefs are the latest team set to begin training camp with a few noticeable absentees. The team has placed four players on the active/PUP list, per Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network (Twitter link).  The lone defender on the list is cornerback Rashad Fenton. In May, it was reported that the 25-year-old wasn’t a lock to […]
