  • Nico Collins Is "Clear" WR2 In Houston

Houston Texans second-year wide receiver Nico Collins is the "clear No. 2" option on the depth chart, according to DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN. Injuries and quarterback turnover limited Collins to just 33 catches, 446 yards, and one touchdown as a rookie, but all signs point to him taking a big step forward in 2022. He'll start alongside reliable veteran Brandin Cooks in an offense that should look better this year than it did in 2021. Most notably, quarterback Davis Mills has a year of NFL experience under his belt and isn't facing as much competition in training camp. Collins' ADP of 145 makes him worthy of being selected as a late-round flier. He should see significant volume this year.

  • Burglary Charge Dropped Against Texans RB Darius Anderson

After being arrested last month for burglary with intent to commit assault, Texans running back Darius Anderson has been cleared of any wrongdoing. According to Mark Berman of Fox26 (on Twitter), the Harris County District Attorney's office dismissed charges against Anderson. According to court records, Anderson's ex-girlfriend claimed that the athlete forced his way into […]

  • Marlon Mack Feeling Better

Houston Texans running back Marlon Mack (Achilles) said he's "there again" health-wise and said he feels good and is able to make the cuts he was able to make before a devastating Achilles injury in 2020. In his first year in Houston, Mack will compete with running backs Rex Burkhead and rookie Dameon Pierce for playing time. He has experience as a lead back, but he's also played in just seven games the last two years due to his Achilles injury. In his last healthy season in 2019 with the Indianapolis Colts, though, Mack had 247 carries for 1,091 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, adding 14 catches for 82 yards. He could get the first crack for lead duties to open the 2022 season, but Pierce has the upside to eventually win the job in what could be a frustrating committee for fantasy managers.

  • Derek Stingley Looking Good In Training Camp

Houston Texans rookie cornerback Derek Stingley (foot) has looked good early in training camp while coming off a Lisfranc injury that ended his final year in college early. Stingley was a first-team All-SEC selection in 2020 out of LSU, and despite concerns about his foot, Houston took him third overall in this year's draft. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is expecting the 21-year-old to start right away for the Texans in his rookie season. In three games before his injury in 2021, Stingley had eight tackles (3.5 for loss) and a forced fumble. Stingley obviously has an extremely high ceiling at the next level, and the Texans are hoping he'll help turn around what has been an awful secondary in recent seasons immediately.

  • Nico Collins To Be Big-Time Playmaker

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins was taken 89th overall last year and is showing he may have been worth an even higher pick than that. Collins, much like the rest of the offense, struggled during the early part of the season in 2021 but finished stronger, producing 31 receptions for 407 yards and one touchdown in his final 12 games. Collins has been making highlight-reel catches in camp, prompting head coach Lovie Smith to say, "Nico Collins is an excellent football player. We expect him to make plays like that." While veteran receiver Brandin Cooks will certainly lead the charge in this offense, Collins is not far behind. He is primed to take on a big role in an improved offense, making him an ideal draft target as a low-cost option who will offer weekly production for your team.

  • Brevin Jordan Flashing In Camp

Houston Texans sophomore tight end Brevin Jordan took some time to develop in his rookie year but became more involved in the second half of the season. Jordan had 20 catches for 178 yards and three touchdowns during the nine games he played in and is already making some noise in camp, showcasing his athleticism and touchdown prowess. At 6-foot-3 and 245 pounds, Jordan has the size to be a lethal red-zone threat for an offense that desperately needs offensive playmakers. After veteran wide receiver Brandin Cooks and fellow sophomore Nico Collins, there is a real void in the depth chart for Jordan to take advantage of this season. Most tight ends take a significant leap in Year 2 and you can expect Jordan to do the same, making him an intriguing late-round target who possesses top-12 upside at his position.

  • Chester Rogers Signs With Texans

Free-agent wide receiver Chester Rogers has agreed to a one-year deal with the Houston Texans. The 28-year-old visited with Houston on Monday, so apparently that went very well. This is a nice depth signing, but this won't mean too much in terms of fantasy football. Last season, Rogers finished with 30 receptions, 301 receiving yards, and one touchdown in 16 games (two starts) with the Tennessee Titans. Rogers is decent depth and a possible option as a punt returner. However, the Texans have plenty of options ahead of Rogers on the depth chart. It's hard to imagine Rogers having weekly value in Houston while the team is healthy.

  • Texans Work Out WRs Willie Snead, Chester Rogers

The Texans could be eyeing an addition or two in their receiver room. Houston is working out free agents Willie Snead and Chester Rogers, per Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network. Kurt Benkert was the quarterback throwing to the two receivers, Wilson adds (on Twitter). The team is not planning to sign Benkert at this time, Mike Garafolo […]

  • Brandin Cooks Should Remain Productive

Houston Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks should remain impactful in fantasy despite working with unproven quarterback Davis Mills for a second straight season. In his career, the quarterback hasn't really mattered for Cooks, whether it's been Jared Goff, Tom Brady, Deshaun Watson, Mills, Drew Brees or Tyrod Taylor. He has finished with 1,000 yards or more in six of his eight NFL seasons. The Texans' receiving weapons aren't deep, and Cooks is the only proven threat, which screams double-digit targets per game in 2022. The 28-year-old was given a two-year contract extension in April and although he may not have a sky-high ceiling, he shouldn't be overlooked as a solid WR2 in fantasy just because he plays for the Texans.

  • Chester Rogers To Visit Texans

Free-agent wide receiver Chester Rogers is scheduled to visit with the Houston Texans on Monday night. The 28-year-old has reportedly been drawing interest from multiple organizations this offseason. Last season, Rogers finished with 30 receptions, 301 receiving yards, and one touchdown in 16 games (one start) with the Tennessee Titans. He's a decent slot receiver and a possible option as a punt returner. He should land with an NFL team before the beginning of the season. It's unlikely that Rogers would have weekly value, but we'll wait and see where he signs.

  • Davis Mills Improving In Training Camp

Houston Texans quarterback Davis Mills was a pleasant surprise in his rookie season, producing 2,664 passing yards, 16 passing touchdowns and 10 interceptions in only 11 games as a starter. He was also more effective towards the end of the season, appearing more comfortable while finishing with a 3-2 record to end the season. Mills reported he has been using "throw charts" to "focus on the areas he needed work on" to "play faster." Mills is in an interesting spot because the Texans are likely to finish with an early Round 1 draft pick in 2023 and could select a quarterback. They have publicly expressed their commitment to Mills for 2022, though, locking him in as their starter this year. Unfortunately, that likely won't amount to more than a QB20-25 finish in fantasy, making him a target only in superflex or two-quarterback leagues.

  • Davion Davis Practices Saturday

Houston Texans wide receiver Davion Davis (ankle) was practicing with the team in training camp on Saturday after he fractured his left ankle late last year. Davis required surgery on his ankle, but he's back out on the field this summer. The 25-year-old wideout could have a better path to playing time in 2022 after rookie John Metchie III was diagnosed with leukemia, but he still has Brandin Cooks, Nico Collins, Phillip Dorsett, Chris Conley and Chris Moore ahead of him on the depth chart. In two games before his injury last year, Davis caught one of his three targets for 17 yards.

  • Dameon Pierce Impresses Saturday

Houston Texans rookie running back Dameon Pierce showed good vision while returning kicks and on inside running drills during practice on Saturday at training camp. Pierce also caught several passes from quarterback Davis Mills in 11-on-11 drills, displaying his versatility in the backfield. So far the 22-year-old is looking good, but the Texans want to see more from Pierce when pads go on for the first time in training camp next week. Pierce is set to serve as backfield depth in his first NFL season in 2022 behind veterans Marlon Mack and Rex Burkhead, so he won't have much redraft value initially in fantasy.

  • Derek Stingley Expected To Be Ready For Week 1

Houston Texans head coach Lovie Smith said the team is ramping up cornerback Derek Stingley (foot) in training camp, and he's expected to be ready for Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts. Stingley is trying to return from Lisfranc injury to his left foot and he'll be eased into workouts at camp. The Texans will be careful with the No. 3 overall pick in this year's draft. When fully healthy, the 21-year-old has the ability to be an elite cover corner in the NFL. Houston's secondary has been a weak spot for a while, so hopefully Stingley can help start to turn that around.

  • John Metchie III Diagnosed With Leukemia

Houston Texans wide receiver John Metchie III (knee, Illness) announced he has been diagnosed with APL, a form of blood cancer. Fortunately, there is some good news as this type of Leukemia is the most curable. The 22-year-old had already been working his way back from a torn ACL sustained during the SEC Championship in December. However, he likely won't be on the field this season after the latest update. Nonetheless, overcoming this obstacle should be Metchie's biggest priority, even if he never logs a snap at the professional level.

  • Chris Harris Jr. Attracting Interest From Teams

Free-agent cornerback Chris Harris Jr. said on Sirius XM NFL Radio on Friday that five teams have asked about him right now and that he wants to play for a contender in 2022. "I can play all over the field. Pretty much whatever a team needs," Harris said. The 33-year-old veteran made the Pro Bowl four times in his time with the Denver Broncos, including an All-Pro nod in 2016, but he hasn't been much of a playmaker the last two years with the Los Angeles Chargers, recording 55 solo tackles, half a sack, two interceptions and eight passes defensed in 23 games (20 starts). Harris may no longer be a starter at this point in his career, but he can provide some nice veteran depth in the slot.
