  • Browns Claim Chase McLaughlin Off Waivers

The Cleveland Browns claimed kicker Chase McLaughlin off waivers from the New York Jets on Tuesday. Kicker Matt McCrane was released in a corresponding move. McLaughlin made four of his five field-goal kicks last year with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Jets. The 25-year-old will join Cody Parkey on the kicking depth chart in Cleveland and will be expected to compete with Parkey for the starting gig to begin the season. Parkey wasn't all that bad last season, but he did miss extra points in three of the team's final four regular season games and wasn't exactly clutch. So if McLaughlin comes into training camp and impresses, he could win the job over Parkey. This is a situation you'll want to avoid in fantasy.

  • Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah Has Heart Issue

Cleveland Browns linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah (heart) fell to pick No. 52 overall in last week's NFL draft because a heart issue came up late in the pre-draft process, according to sources. However, doctors ultimately cleared him. If not for the heart issue, Owusu-Koramoah could've come off the board in the first round. Cleveland traded up to keep him from sliding any further on Day 2. The former Notre Dame product is a linebacker/safety hybrid, which will allow the Browns to drop him into coverage or rush him off the edge. Owusu-Koramoah will bring intensity and a high motor to his new club. He finished his senior season for the Fighting Irish with 62 tackles (11 for loss) and three forced fumbles.

  • Browns Sign Malik McDowell

The Cleveland Browns signed free-agent defensive tackle Malik McDowell to an undisclosed deal on Monday. McDowell was a second-round pick by the Seattle Seahawks in 2017. He has yet to play an NFL game after a serious ATV injury during training camp before his rookie season. It's an interesting low-risk move for a Browns defense that has really been beefed up in the last year. McDowell was also arrested for driving under the influence and disorderly conduct in separate incidents late in his rookie season and spent the 2018 campaign on the Non-Football Injury list. He was later released in 2019 after being arrested following an altercation with police and was sentenced to 11 months in jail after pleading guilty. The Browns will give him a second chance to prove he's moved past his off-field issues.

  • Browns Draft Demetric Felton

With the 211th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns have drafted UCLA wide receiver Demetric Felton. The Pac 12 leader in all-purpose yards last year, Felton is a versatile option who can play anywhere on the field. He's got some nice acceleration that could allow him to make plays out of the slot, though the Browns currently have Jarvis Landry manning that position, which complicates Felton's path to seeing snaps in the short term. Still, there's talent here if Cleveland can figure out how to maximize Felton.
