  • Chargers Sign Christian Covington

The Los Angeles Chargers signed free-agent defensive tackle Christian Covington to an undisclosed deal on Monday, according to his agent. Covington was a sixth-round pick by the Houston Texans out of Rice in 2015. He's also spent time with the Dallas Cowboys and Cincinnati Bengals in his six NFL seasons. Covington started 14 of the 16 games he played in for the Bengals last season and was on the field for 53 percent of the team's defensive snaps. The 27-year-old had 39 tackles (14 solo) and one QB hit. In his NFL career, Covington has 132 tackles (15 for loss), 20 QB hits, two passes defensed, one forced fumble and 8.5 sacks in 82 games (29 starts).

  • Bengals Select Running Back Chris Evans

With the 202nd pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals have selected Michigan running back Chris Evans. The former Wolverine had just 16 carries for 73 yards last season and last saw serious work back in 2018, so there's a lot of concern here in terms of what Evans can be at the next level. He flashed some good pass-catching ability in college and the Bengals could use someone to fill that role behind Joe Mixon, so if Evans is able to get up to speed in training camp, there's a good chance he can see some work down the stretch in 2021.

  • Bengals Take Kicker Evan McPherson

With the 149th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals have selected Florida kicker Evan McPherson. The top kicker in this class, McPherson converted 85 percent of his field goals and 99.3 percent of his extra points over his three years in Gainesville. Considering Bengals kicker Randy Bullock had his second-worst season in terms of field goal percentage last season, this seems like a sign that Bullock is on the way out in Cincy. McPherson could be a solid fantasy kicker, though taking a chance on a rookie is always risky.
