  • San Francisco Eyes Week 12 Return For Deebo Samuel

The hope, per San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan, is that wide receiver Deebo Samuel (hamstring) will return in time to play Week 12 versus the Rams. Samuel has been sidelined since Week 7 due to a hamstring injury, leaving Brandon Aiyuk, Richie James, Kendrick Bourne, and Trent Taylor to take over bigger roles in the passing game than before. Upon Samuel's return, the aforementioned group would presumably take a dip in production as Samuel has proven to be an integral cog in the 49ers' offense no matter who has been under center. The matchup with the Rams is a finicky one on paper, but Samuel caught his lone touchdown this season against the defense back in Week 6. If he is available on the waiver wire, aggressive fantasy managers can eat the bye week with eyes toward season-long playoff production from Samuel.

  • Deebo Samuel, Tevin Coleman Officially Out

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel (hamstring) and running back Tevin Coleman (knee) are officially out for Week 10 against the Saints. With the team's bye coming in Week 11, both Samuel and Coleman could be back on the field in Week 12 against the division-rival Rams. It will be Samuel's third straight absence and sixth missed game in total in 2020. Rookie Brandon Aiyuk, Kendrick Bourne and Richie James Jr. should operate in three-receiver sets. Aiyuk has the most upside and could see a healthy amount of targets. He's a WR3 with upside after the catch. With Coleman and Raheem Mostert (ankle) both missing another game, Jerick McKinnon and JaMycal Hasty will split the backfield work yet again. McKinnon is riding the hot hand and is on the RB2/3 borderline in a tough matchup.

  • Raheem Mostert, Deebo Samuel On Track For Week 12 Return

San Francisco 49ers running back Raheem Mostert (ankle) and wide receiver Deebo Samuel (hamstring) are expected to return to the field for the team's Week 12 matchup against the Rams, per head coach Kyle Shanahan. While Mostert had already been confirmed out for Sunday's outing versus New Orleans, the inclusion of Samuel to this group likely means that he'll miss said contest as well. With the 49ers having a bye during Week 11, it'll give both players additional time to heal. With Mostert unavailable in the backfield, Tevin Coleman and Jerick McKinnon are likely to share ball carrying duties, although JaMycal Hasty also looms as an option. The trio of Brandon Aiyuk, Richie James, and Trent Taylor all stand to benefit from Samuel's absence against the Saints, as they are the only three WR's on the active roster who don't carry an injury designation.

  • Deebo Samuel, Tevin Coleman Miss Practice

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel (hamstring) and running back Tevin Coleman (knee) did not practice on Wednesday. It's not a great start for either player after they had some extra time to heal up following the team's Week 9 blowout loss to the Packers last Thursday. Samuel is no longer on the COVID-19 list as a high-risk close contact, but he's highly questionable to play in Week 10 against the Saints after already missing five games due to various injuries. Rookie Brandon Aiyuk could see a heavy target load if Samuel misses another game in a contest in which San Fran could need to throw often against a high-scoring New Orleans team. Coleman has missed six of his last seven games with a knee injury and isn't expected to play this Sunday. Raheem Mostert (ankle) has already been ruled out, too, so this backfield will once again be shared by Jerick McKinnon and rookie JaMycal Hasty.
