  • Russell Gage, Jaelon Darden Have Looked Good

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receivers Russell Gage and Jaelon Darden have looked good so far in training camp. Gage has been as advertised by sporting an array of moves to help him get separation both on the outside and inside in the slot. He's often been the primary receiver in practices with Chris Godwin (knee) missing time. Darden has a much better understanding of the playbook, which includes choice routes that are prevalent in the offense. He's playing faster, running better routes and catching the ball with greater regularity in his second season. Darden also has the inside track for the return-specialist job, which helps his chances of making the final roster. Gage could still be a nice weapon in his first year in Tampa, but the addition of veteran Julio Jones should temper fantasy managers' hopes for a breakout in 2022.

  • Russell Gage Impressing Early In Training Camp

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Russell Gage has consistently impressed in the first week of training camp. "Gage has really been the one to stand out. I don't think we've covered him yet," head coach Todd Bowles said Friday. Mike Evans, Chris Godwin (knee), Gage and Jones are set to be the team's top four receivers, but in the battle for the final two receiver jobs on the roster, Tyler Johnson has turned heads this week. The punt and kickoff returner will likely take one of the final receiver jobs, and Jaelon Darden is still the early leader there. Gage had had two touchdowns in practice on Saturday, and although the addition of Jones makes him slightly less appealing in fantasy, he should still be a fine late-round target as he continues to show nice chemistry with quarterback Tom Brady in practices.

  • Russell Gage Healthy At Training Camp

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Russell Gage (undisclosed) was full-go at training camp practice on Wednesday. Gage, who signed as a free agent after four seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, was unable to get integrated into the offense during offseason workouts due to an unspecified injury. "Russ looks great," said head coach Todd Bowles. "He came back in great shape and we're happy to have him moving." Gage's fantasy value has taken a hit already at camp, though, with Chris Godwin (knee) avoiding the Physically Unable to Perform list and with veteran wideout Julio Jones signing to provide competition. The 26-year-old isn't quite as sexy of a breakout candidate now, especially if Godwin is ready for the start of the season.
