A few quick hit questions this time. First up, Is Steven Stamkos a lock for the Calder?
While he is the definite favourite, there are some players from previous drafts that may give him a run for his money; Coyotes’ Kyle Turris, Islanders’ Kyle Okposo, Blue Jackets’ Jakub Voracek, and the Ducks’ Bobby Ryan, just to name a few. There are many that believe Stamkos is the runaway winner. Numerous scouts have said that even if wunderkind John Tavares had been eligible for this year’s draft, that they’d have still picked Stamkos, for his developed defensive game.
Which teams have the greatest chances of finishing at the bottom and winning the John Tavares sweepstakes?
The New York Islanders, Florida Panthers, and Toronto Maple Leafs. If you really want to know why, just take a quick peak at their rosters.
Will Sean Avery find new and exciting ways to annoy the hell out of goalies?
Not only will he find new and exciting ways to annoy goalies, he will find new ways to annoy his teammates, opposing teams, his coaches, referees, Gary Bettman, myself, and probably lots of other people. That being said, he can still be a valuable player on the ice scoring goals, mixing it up, and taking opposing stars off of their game, and the Stars are probably a better team with him in their lineup.
