As I mentioned in my blog on August 16, you should be mindful of starting pitchers being skipped over when their turn in the rotation was due up. Just as MLB teams want to evaluate the young hotshot pitchers, they want to do the same with hitters. Don’t be surprised to see a Chipper Jones get an occasional day off as he has battled injuries all season or Alex Rios and Vernon Wells to get more off days as the Blue Jays try to evaluate youngsters Adam Lind and Travis Snider.
With September roster expansions happening tomorrow, teams want to see what their kids can do against MLB pitching. These kids won’t be called up to sit on the bench, so someone will be getting fewer AB’s as a result. Keep tabs on your players and the possibility that they could get some extra rest as a prospect gets his chance.
