We all know the phrase “Buy low, sell high”. It was originally used on Wall Street, but also applies to fantasy baseball. We all like to find the bargain in the draft: The player who slips a few rounds too late and ends up with a break through season. And when he becomes the rage of MLB, every owner in your league is willing to pay top dollar for him.
We all dream of finding a few of those in the draft. Well, if you own Nate McLouth, Carlos Quentin, Ryan Church, Xavier Nady, Emil Brown, Skip Schumaker, Carlos Gomez, Eric Hinske, Jason Werth, Cliff Lee, Edinson Volquez, Joe Sanuders, Brandon Lyon, Ryan Dempster or John Danks, you may just own that kind of guy. Of course, every league has their own rules and patterns, but these are likely sell high guys. Of course, if you believe this is the beginning of a great career, you’ll want to keep that player for yourself.
I’m not saying you could trade Nate McLouth for David Wright straight-up, but you might be able to pair one of these guys up with a Mike Lowell and hit the Wright owner at a moment of weakness. You never know who has fallen in love with a flash in the pan type of player, so offer them around.
