We are at the 1/4 point of the season and it is time to start analyzing your team. You should have a pretty good idea of whether you will compete or not. Though it is always possible for a front runner to pull a Mets and collapse at the end of the season, you should not to expect to leapfrog 7 other teams to grab 1st place with a month to go. You should start formulating a strategy as to whether you will significantly improve your team so you can compete or if you should start selling off pieces to position yourself for a run at the title in 2009.
In my dynasty league, I am currently in first place in my division. I have already identified several teams who are giving up on 2008 and planning for 2009. They are more than glad to take my young studs in return for grizzled vets. Trading with the teams in contention is rather difficult but is always worth a shot.
This isn’t the time to panic, but it is time to start making decisions. You should formulate a plan for how you will get to the top or make an exit strategy. Since you are not the only one with this in mind, you can often find a partner willing to help you achieve your goal.
