Your team isn’t performing up to par and you are not sure why. Join the crowd. My money league team is currently 10th out of 11 and I won this league last year. Of note, I was in a similar situation last season and came away OK.
The season is early and there is no reason to pull the plug yet. With a little patience and a key waiver wire pickup or trade, your team can get right back into the thick of things. No one expected Ryan Howard, Alfonso Soriano, Robinson Cano, Victor Martinez, and Troy Tulowitzki to be stinking this badly a month into the season. These are the kinds of players that will probably make up for their crummy starts early on and will still finish with close to expected numbers. Wait it out and see if they can wright your ship. I’m betting they will (or else it will be a long season for me too).
As far as throwing in the towel and starting to build for next year, I’d watch the Texas Rangers. They are going to be sellers at the MLB trade deadline this year. I know it. You know it. Even Jon Daniels knows it. When he starts to sell off Hank Blalock, Kevin Millwood, and Gerald Laird, you should start the same process if you are as hopeless as the Rangers are. If you have something to fight for, it’s always fun to see what you can do down the stretch.
