I received some good feedback via email and from the RotoChamps Compiler Support forum about the initial release of version 1.0 of the ’07 Baseball Cheatsheet Compiler and Draft Buddy. No major bugs were reported, but I did make some changes this morning to correct or clean up some errors, and I just uploaded a new version 1.0.
Note I decided not to change the version number since the changes were small, and because people will still be looking through the old links to download from various places. Download links:
Here were the items that were fixed:
1. Issue: The Compile Cheatsheets process does not run all the way through, getting stuck at the cheatsheets tab, and the hitters cheatsheet is not complete. Only some users were experiencing this problem.
Solution: At the point where the Compile Cheatsheets process copies the new cheatsheet over, it runs an edit/replace function to clean up the data. In Excel versions prior to 2002 this was haulting the process because edit/replace included some options exclusive to Excel 2002 or higher (edit/replace cell formatting). These have been removed which should make this process compatible with all versions of Excel as intended, ’97 and higher.
2. Issue: On the pitchers tab, re-ranking starting pitchers is causing an error. Same thing on the hitters tab for OF when they are split LF/CF/RF.
Solution: The sort range and sort order variables were defined wrong. These are now updated.
3. Issue: The summary tab showing players on your roster (top 5) at the selected position does not show projected fantasy points for non-auction, fantasy point leagues.
Solution: The formula was defined to show dollar amounts, if applicable, but not fantasy points. The formula is now correct.
4. Issue: On the auction input and draft input tabs, changing the player drop-downs to sort by rankings or alphabetical was looking for an undefined macro.
Solution: Selecting these options requires Buddy to calculate all formulas throughout the file before it can properly adjust the sort order of the player drop-downs. It now does this.
There is one other known issue which I haven’t got a solution for yet. Even if a player is eligible for more than one position, he is only showing up under one position. This is the result of trying not to duplicate the same player into the draftable player pool when performing the PVM calculations. Notable players this applies to are Victor Martinez, Julio Lugo and Chone Figgins. I’m still thinking about ways to combat this.
